    The PowKiddy X55 has been out for quite a while now, but still remains a popular gaming handheld. Recently a couple new colorways were released and rumored to have improved shoulder buttons. I’m not sure if mine has the improved buttons or the original. In this video we’re going to check out all of the primary features of the PowKiddy X55. We’ll test the buttons and the dpad, and explore the settings while also having a little fun testing a few games, including a full port of the awesome 2022 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge!
    The people at GoGameGeek did a great job configuring this device with the open source JelOS firmware. Many other sellers leave it to the customer to learn everything about the RetroArch and Emulation Station menus and they send out consoles that could take days or weeks of setting up before you’ll have a real chance to enjoy using them. GoGameGeek also compiles an enormous list of games and organizes them very well. For newcomers this can be a daunting task, but GoGameGeek does all the tedious work for you.
    This PowKiddy X55 is one of the first handhelds I’ve ever received that arrived with all my settings just how I like them, preconfigured. It’s like they knew exactly what I wanted without even asking. The games are all scaled correctly, utilizing the best and most appropriate filters for each individual system. Bezel art overlays have been implemented to make for a much more aesthetically pleasing view of the 5.5” 16:9 screen while playing the games with an aspect ratio that take up less screen real estate, so no big black bars at all. Button mapping is preconfigured accurately for each console as well. All of these settings can be changed to your liking, but for me this console arrived absolutely perfect.
    After the headaches and issues I’ve experienced from previous handheld purchases on AliExpress, GoGameGeek is like a breath of fresh air. Their website is nice, informative, and easy to navigate. Everything is curated well, just like the game cards they include with their handheld devices. It shows they care, and to me that’s important.
    If you value your time and want to have the best experience getting back into retro gaming, GoGameGeek is a great place to start. The extra effort they put into fine tuning these devices allows for you to just turn on the console, find your preferred games, and play them the way you want. You’ll see them how you remember your games looking from the past on a CRT television. It’s amazing to have Sony PlayStation and N64 running perfectly in the palm of your hand.
    Good customer service and fast shipping are hard to come by in the retro handheld gaming industry, but GoGameGeek.com has done well. I strongly recommend visiting GoGameGeek.com if you’re considering buying a new retro handheld device, especially if you’re new to emulation, even if only to browse. It’s a fun website to visit.
    Much love to you all

    Hello OG ✌️
    I had to buy one X55 in order to have a display large enough for my eyes to be comfortable 😉
    Thank you for the review - greetings from a fan from the Czech Republic.

      Hello! I understand. My eyes get strained on the smaller handhelds too. The X55 screen is a good size for a handheld. Thanks for checking out my video! Greetings from Los Angeles.

    instead of the x55, I got the RG505 with this ingenious and incredibly cool OLED display.
    and yes, I don't regret it for a single second!
    with GammaOS the RG505 just runs perfectly!
    No matter if PS2, Gamecube, Switch = everything is possible!
    The lower systems run perfectly, of course!
    So the bottom line is that I would prefer the RG505 to the x55 every time!
    greez!

    It's kinda on my radar, but there's other gadgets to order in before it. Maybe if I find it at a great price, but that's still cash that can go towards an RG556 or something.

    .... Playing the
    3DO ROAD Rash is even more enjoyable to me now because I recently learned how to get into retroarch to adjust frame skip etc and now while not perfect The
    3DO ROAD RASH
    Is Actually Playable mostly staying between 49 and 55 frames per second ....
    ....Before 3DO ROAD RASH would lock the X55 up Every Time and id have to restart the X55 and now 3DO ROAD Rash I Can Play N Play N Play Without This Game Locking Up My X55 ....

    I have the x55 so would be a waste to get another one for this configuration so is it possible to just get the configured memorycard ? Don't know if the card showing on the website is the configured one or the original

      I think you might be able to find preconfigured cards on Etsy. Likely AliExpress too. I don’t think GoGameGeek sells preconfigured without a console.

      You need to have the game on your PC, get the running files and copy them to the game folder... There are tutorials on the internet on how to do this...

      You can find all of the latest JelOS builds including the last X55 firmware at this GitHub. I’d recommend searching for a set up guide by Retro Game Corps or maybe Joey’s Retro Handhelds. github.com/JustEnoughLinuxOS/distribution/releases

    How to fix psp menu because it doesn't open when i press r3 and select x and i cant fix it

    • @OGTechNick
      @OGTechNick  26 днів тому

      Sounds like you somehow accidentally remapped it. Try going to the tools section on emulation station and opening up ppsspp directly from there. Once in ppsspp, go to settings -> controls then try setting your home button to R3. I can’t remember if there is another button mapping option that says “open menu” but look through the options and you’ll probably figure it out. If not, let me know and I’ll try asking somebody who would know exactly what to do.

    What's the difference between the GoGameGeek x55 and the stock one?

    • @OGTechNick
      @OGTechNick  Місяць тому +2

      Most places sell the device without the games being configured properly in regard to aspect ratio, button mapping. GoGameGeek goes above and beyond with this. They add the proper filters so the games look accurate and they fill the black bars where the bezel would be with system related artwork. They do a nice job of organizing the roms in alphabetical order, without duplicates, and include box art as well.

      You’re the man. I really appreciate it and I appreciate your other comments. That’s cool that you were able to get 3DO Road Rash to a playable state. I’ve never tried it on 3DO. I’ll have to give it a try soon. There is so much to learn within RetroArch. It can be pretty confusing at times, but I love it. Especially when tinkering yields results like this. Thanks again, man. Have a great day.
