Isan Series Episode 4: Last Day in Udon Thani + Michelin-Guide Noodles!
It’s our final day in Udon Thani, and we’re ending on a high note before heading into Laos! 🇹🇭 🇱🇦 Today, I’m visiting the Michelin Guide-recommended Madame Phatehh (มาดาม พาเท่ห์) for their unforgettable noodle soup.
What makes the pho here so special? It’s all in the details:
🔥 Stir-fried meat and vegetables add a smoky, savoury depth.
🍖 A rich, flavour-packed bone broth simmered for 6 hours is the heart of every bowl.
And let’s not forget the incredible story of the friendly Auntie who owns this gem! She spent 25 years in Laos, perfecting her Laos/Vietnamese/Chinese fusion flavours. Her passion, warmth, and attention to detail make dining here an experience like no other.
Join me for one last taste of Udon Thani before the journey continues into Laos!
Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more food, travel, and adventure content!

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this UA-cam channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
Love it when you are all out together.
Great video.
Looked so tasty. Have a great week.
Thanks Nicky, I hope you’re well!
@@theroamingcook Thank you

Great 👍 you should do more videos in Udon. There's loads up here, e.g. Seka province and it would make you very popular on YT 😉
More incoming mate, I’ll check out Seka for sure. First time I’ve heard of it 😅
@theroamingcook do you have email or a way to message you? I live up here and 1000% you'll love my recommendations.

🌶🌶🥵👏👏. Glad you were able to come and showcased the restaurant so well Gary and Family 😋💓. Owner and her staff are so nice too. It's always a treat for me to see you bring the entire family when you do a video mate 👍.
Thanks Bruce mate, it’s always a pleasure to have the family with me while I’m ‘working’ 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hey Garry!
I will go to that "Pad kra pao" place in BKK you recommended in the other video.
THX for all the work you do
Love to see your wife and child enjoying with you.
Cheers!
I hope you enjoy it 🙏🙏🙏
I love especially the other Madame Phatehh Restaurant! THis one i did not know until now;)
What the sauces did the auntie use? You said oyster sauce but I could not hear the name of the other sauce well. Thanks Gary. FYI, I learn Thai food secret from your video recording from the kitchen and descriptions of the tastes of the dish.
By the way, that bowl of pho costs me at least $12 in Los Angeles. I really want to move to Thailand soon.
I’m 90 percent sure it was light soy! I’m so glad you’re getting some use out of the videos for cooking 😃🙏
Just to the charming Chiang khan on the Mekong.
Going to spend February with Ellis in Colombia

@@theroamingcookI asked my Thai husband to explain what he meant by saying thank you don’t say thank you. Pretty much you have to say krub khun. He guesses Laos uses krub jai which in Thai refers to young person. It’s safe for us as foreigners always use krub khun.
Talk to an older Thai adult, say thank you. Not to say thank you.
Sorry I don’t understand 🙏
Shame that Udon Thani is dirty
We must have been in a different part
@ Hey mate. Yeah, but as far as I can see - and the first time I went to Udon Thani was over 20 years ago - is that it is dirty and the local government spend no money on footpath upkeep etc. Yes, there’s great new roads, yes, there’s always great Christmas decorations around Central, but the place is dirty, broken, dusty, busy.
❤❤ua-cam.com/users/shortsqo_C_SuiyZI?si=UTx5uMUItASQXpMJ so cute to my son and wife and Gary
Thank you na
Nice, Gary. I love the mix of inspirations, that's how I cook at home.
I was thinking that while I was editing Willie 😃
