You forgot to mention the two 10mm bolts on the cooling flange on the back of the head. You must have done it or the head would not have come off.

Hi, I would like to congratulate you for your video! I have a doubt with the socket that you used to remove the screws of the head, are RIBE M11? several people use the M10, however in the ETKA indicates that the screws in 2.8l, V6 engines are M11! this is very similar to the TORX T55, which one really should be used?

I'm looking for the same answer.. So far i have confirmed that 1.8T APU engine use M11 bolts aswell...

Good video man, I'm thinking of buying a Audi 1.8t owner says it has a "bad head" is it worth it or could something else be wrong with it?

Depends what is wrong with the head. With original valves, if timing belt snaps or skips, valves simply bend. With aftermarket valves, they can break and then you will have serious damage done to the piston, head, and cylinder walls. Not worth repairing in that case.

I would like to know if the gaskets blow with awp heads! My car has new timing belt kit and I had a head gasket test done which points to a bad gasket.. I still have power. After about a 15-20 mile drive it will over heat and bubble out of the overflow! this happen twice to me now the car sits until I decided to do a head gasket or not... 2003 1.8t awp head 102k. HELP

Thank you. I do have the whole process. Rebuilt the head by myself, put it back on, did the timing belt, put the front end on, and sold the car. this is what i do for a living. I just need to find time to compile the video. can't seem to have that time

Online Police Good for you man, I am about to start doing the same to my 04 Passat 1.8T, my issue is worn rings on #4; putting a new engine is out of the question because of cost, also the one in there now has only 89k on it...you think you can help with parts list and tool needed for the job? I want to make sure I got it all before I start tearing it apart.

oepixels I cannot think of anything superspecial. But of the top of my head you need first of all a
      1. torque wrench
      then
      2. Head bolt tool called Poly drive (available tru snapon or ebay)
      3. Metric wrenches, sockets, hex wrenches, hex sockets, torx wrenches, torx sockets, alan wrenches, alan sockets (available at harbor freight, or more expensive at Sears)
      3. cam chain tensioner compressor (ebay)
      4. Valve spring compressor (ebay, look for VW one)
working on the block will need
      5. Piston ring compressor
      6. cylinder hone
thats all i can think of. I don't have many tools to be honest. All of the above could cost you about $200
