I'm currently on my (probably) 7th playthrough and I just can't not appreciate how the entire starting area (from Goodsprings to about Novac) is handled. The reason you're are being recommended to stay on the road is because pretty much everything offroad is mid to late game content. I love it as a means to force the player to explore the open world a bit. Your story goal is The Vegas Strip, but if you try to go straight there its extremely dangerous and you probably won't have enough money to get in without The Kings getting you a pass. Its a great way to reinforce the behavior they want to see without just dragging your all over the map themselves.
Best advice always have party time mentats, a lot of radaway and wear the hazmat before you go into a vault you never know what’s going to happen and if you want to skip a fight if you’re low on ammunition or need to convince someone to do something put on the naughty nightwear saves you so much time especially when talking to companions
First game I ever truly role-play. I played a ridiculously good-looking and hardy but weak idiot who was really lucky and wide-eyed innocently and cluelessly charismatic. For traits I took Small Frame(+1agility) because RPing skinny guy and Skilled(+5 to all skills) because of pre amnesia muscle memory. And because you can take Skilled three times(char creation, leaving starting area, Big MT autodoc respec) for +15 skill points to EVERYTHING. The perks and unique weapons in this game are so fun. Cowboy and Grunt are auto-takes as they buff so many weapons. And they both buff the best knife in the game, the unique Bowie Blood Nap. Yeah, I was stabby. I could go on and on...
16:47 Iirc, blade of the east is Legate Lanius' weapon. Whether you loot it off of his body or not, you only have one more fight where you can use it ehich is against Olive Boy. After that, Epilogue slideshow then its over. No new game +. Even if you try to continue the saved game, i believe the blade wont be in yoir inventory.
New Vegas was supposed to let you keep playing after you finished the main story, but was cut due to time. Bethesda gave Obsidian 18 months to make this game.

So, badger has clearly never played this game without wild wasteland on... Case in point: the flaming yao guai. You do NOT need wild wasteland, as ghost of she is part of honest hearts' mainline quest. The part that WAS wild wasteland in that quest was the "take drugs, kill a bear" quote as it was a reference to the advice dog meme. That being said, I wish badger mentioned the one MASSIVE downside to this game: it's an unstable mess of spaghetti code that really, REALLY likes to crash. though that is due to the fact that the game had only 18 months to develop, was being run on a much outdated engine even for the time, was made by a team who had no prior experience with said engine, and had to have all of its dlc out the year after launch so that, quoting Bumbles Mcfumbles here, "Skyrim could come in and fart all over the carpets"
@@aregulargamer1 tell that to Bumbles Mcfumbles, dude had the fan patch installed and it didn't really help much... Game crashed 43 times before he lost 3 hours of progress due to his latest save being corrupted...
My favorite thing to do is a glitch at the start of the game where you leave the starting area there’s a menu that pops up asking if you want to change your character before moving on. But if you do it just right you can pull out your pip-boy and the menu will pop up over and over again until the pip-boy moves off screen. Allowing you to pick the skilled attribute again and again maxing out your skills from the start. And the best part is that the downside of the skilled attribute doesn’t stack only the plus 5 stat points so you get max stats for just - 10% of your exp.
Ok some things: With the Unarmed skill Dead Money becomes much easier, no need for Sneak. Old World Blues is the best DLC because it is basically wacky sci-fi filled with comedy, basically bathroom and crude humour, my favorite. The final DLC, Lonesome Road, feels like Baldur's Gate 2 Throne of Bhaal, it is an epic level adventure where even the lowliest orc has a +1 axe even though it is the Forgotten Realms and +1 can't really be mass produced there... so in Lonesome Road you basically make infinite money by selling the epic level loot to the amazon terminals in the walls. Also, my Level 50 Mailman who could literally Za Warudo (with the high level perk Implant GRX) and a courier duster and a deathclaw gauntlet felt more like a power fantasy hero than a fully built and optimized dragonborn. Also, I haven't finished the video yet but: Wild Wasteland is a Trait, while Mysterious Stranger/Miss Fortune is a level up perk.
Unarmed is busted in New Vegas. Deathclaw charging down the hill to eviscerate you? Just one hit kill it with an uppercut that sends it flying back up to the top of the hill.
@@Kez_DXX yeah, the Deathclaw Gauntlet wasn't even my main weapon, it was a maxed out Laser Gatling, but as powerful as the Laser Gatling was with its fully upgraded ammo that could quickly melt the hp of any enemy, it was completely unnecessary in the final fight, as both Legion and NCR couldn't do anything against some sharp bones...
@@FriendlyArchpriest I distinctly remember going for an explosives route and getting the mad bomber perk, then proceeding to casually toss a fat mine at Caesar's head.

Level 1 Courier beelining it to the Divide lets you, in-character, have no clue what the Legion or the NCR are. You'll leave at level 10 with some of the best weapons in the game in peak condition, with more stimpaks and caps than you know what to do with, and you'll have the best medium armour in the game that will make you forgive the NCR for being Californian; that is how unquestionable the Elite Riot Gear fit is.
11:35 Interesting point about this is apparently there's a issue with the system if you have a follower company you while you go through here any weapon you have given them will Disappear Completely from their inventory never to reappear again so be careful of what you give your follower in weapon variety.
5:47 that is actually and intentional feature, its not like Fallout 3 or 4 where enemies scale to your level, there's actual places with specifically higher level enemies like Quarry Junction and the deathclaws and the rad scorpions are the same, a challenge, that yes can be sercomvented with a few ways, but not suggested allowing you to have future objectives
Tbf you also should check out Nikolai's "Fallout New Vegas in a nutshell" i think you'll like it, theres also "The Western STALKER" and "Fallout 3 in a nutshell", you won't regret it.
I forgot badger's comment about speech and barter, I was drinking coffee when he said it almost spit mah drink 😂😂😂😂 I love how accurate his explanation on that subject is though, also love the commentary from kip basically lining up with how I'd react 👍👍👍👍
IIRC there is a diference between Miss Fortune and Mysterious Stranger. The Stranger can one-shot one target you choose on vats. The Miss makes something critically fail. Like weapons blow up. Or shoot a grenade if the target has it on its inventory. And when she finds nothing, there is a chance she shoots a rocket on the target.
I wonder if Russian Badger ever did a video on Outer World's...... He could have some fun with that.... Good olde Obsidian, like a warm blanket of memories, and trauma
6:14 vanilla new vegas doesnt really scale by level, most of the enemys you encounter have a base level that their at and part of the balancing of the game is putting harder enemies in places with better stuff or more late game areas, the radsqurpions are there for the same reason the deathclaws are in the quarry and the cazidores are around, to stop you from skipping the story and goin straight to vegas
Yeah, to succeed at saving Kimball during the presidential assassination quest, not only do you have to stop the direct attempt on President Kimballs life, you also have to disarm the C4 explosive charge that has been planted on his Vertibird. Also, Honest Hearts is good, and I can enjoy Dead Money, but Old World Blues is by far my favorite dlc for New Vegas.
So the thing is the armor issue is intentional. The area where you ran into the radscorpians is closed off and the people in goodsprings warm you of the nasty critters that way. That's why the game tells you to go to primm and then novac through nipton
34:47 is, is the reaper a gardener in this universe? A sickle? REALLY? Not a Scythe mind you, but a SICKLE?!?!?! I’m now laughing at a picture of death just gardening in his free time
New Vegas was intended to have a post-campaign, to show you how your choices affected the Mojave, and also allow you to finish any missions you missed before the credits, but the devs only asked for a year and a half of development time, so that was all cut, and it’s the first Fallout since Fallout 1 to have a hard cutoff at the credits. And no, no New Game +, you just have to restart, unless you get a mod for it.
There are precisely two characters that will always stick with me. One was a man with green hair and a box-shaped head named Neggbert Puncherson, and the other was the magnificent Gill Bates with pale dead skin, beady black eyes, and a nose so long and crooked it pokes through several of the helmets in the game. Truly wondrous tales those men told.
When it comes to Vanilla New Vegas, the game kind of expects you to head south towards the NCR outpost and swing around towards Novac to chase Benny. While yes, you can try heading to the strip right away, there is a wall of meat between Goodsprings and Vegas... And it very much doesnt like being poked by puny early game weapons.
if you do the quest for that gun he stole the big iron from you find out he's the son of the mysterious stranger and he gives you the gun as a reward either way you get the gun and its actually really good.
I kept my charisma high so I can always have a high barter level because I prefer buying brand new guns instead of constantly looking for scrap to make a weapon repair kit I only used those for unique weapons also no matter how high your level is always get a anti tank rifle, fat man or rocket launcher when fighting deathclaws that chainsaw ain’t gonna do a damn thing even with legion perks NCR = nice guns
During the lonesome road you can get the blade of the west a near carbon copy of the blade of the east so you can actually use a near copy of the legates sword
Currently building a 60s style sci-fi character in my game. Didn't have issues with scorpions, but entomology perk does seem to help my plasma gun melt them easily. Would love a new Vegas stream if you're up for it.

Yeah, radscorpions are terrifying in the early game but then again if you're trying to go north from Goodsprings cemetery its even worse. Going left of the radscorpion hotspot you run into Cazadors and going to the right you get road blocked by Deathclaws and/or supermutants. Let's at least be thankful that there aren't any Albino radscorpions in New Vegas, those suckers were a nightmare to deal with in Fallout 3.
Between fallout New Vegas and fallout 4 deathclaws are hands down for me more scarier than cassadors because I be walking around all of a sudden boom deathclaw right up in my face
And in bioshock 2 if you telekineticly grab a golf club and carry it over to the Andrew Ryan exhibit in chapter 4 I believe you can throw it at the dummy of Ryan and get the " 9 irony" achievement
There is no new game plus, so you don't have anything to use the blade of the east on. But there are different weapons with the same model you can get before the final mission.
yes, there is a third option to end the game, where YOU take over the army of killbots with Yes Man's help and together you nuke both the NCR and the Legion, making New Vegas an independent body with you in control and the Securitrons keeping it safe. Frankly its always the option I pick because I hate the NCR and the Legion.

Your story goal is The Vegas Strip, but if you try to go straight there its extremely dangerous and you probably won't have enough money to get in without The Kings getting you a pass. Its a great way to reinforce the behavior they want to see without just dragging your all over the map themselves.
Not going to lie, I've seen this before, I just came here for your maniacal giggling while I work on stuff. 👍
Dead Money: the only thing I’m letting go is poverty
I always like to watch this video again and again and just imagine what Badger would do if he had the mocap
Best advice always have party time mentats, a lot of radaway and wear the hazmat before you go into a vault you never know what’s going to happen and if you want to skip a fight if you’re low on ammunition or need to convince someone to do something put on the naughty nightwear saves you so much time especially when talking to companions
I'm so used to videos of badger with his buddies
That just a solo badger video doesn't hit the same
worth noting one of the best and simplest mods for the game is one that just makes wild wasteland a toggle during character creation instead of a perk
Btw wild wastland is a trait you can get at the beggining of the game you can have 2 traits perks you get every few lvls
New Vegas was supposed to let you keep playing after you finished the main story, but was cut due to time. Bethesda gave Obsidian 18 months to make this game.
The video that made me buy New Vegas.
(I know people will call me a heretic, but I like the NCR.)
*_”Degenerates like you, belong on a cross!”_*
JK just so you know. I also sided with NCR on my first playthrough, and my character’s name was _Lucky Luke._ No explanation needed I presume?
I sided NCR and brotherhood lol
@@ShadiC636You sir are the only one worthy of the title "Man of Culture".
@@Snakie_Chan Thank you! That’s nice of you to say that!
You know, I might actually give New Vegas another go, but this time my new character will side with the Legion and his name will be *_Uncle Ruckus._* No -rela- explanation needed, am I right?
@@ShadiC636 I just imagine your character walking inside NCR territory with this playing in the background:

That's why you just get the mod that fixes the game. Took like two downloads and I barely had any crashes. Still autosave all the time though.
That's why the fall of Fallout 76 exists.
@@aregulargamer1 tell that to Bumbles Mcfumbles, dude had the fan patch installed and it didn't really help much... Game crashed 43 times before he lost 3 hours of progress due to his latest save being corrupted...
2:38 It's VEGAS. you'd be stupid NOT to.
Ok some things:
With the Unarmed skill Dead Money becomes much easier, no need for Sneak.
Traits like wild wast land can only have two of them
Perks like mysterious stranger, mad bomber so can can be picked into leave 50 every other level with out mods
One perk every other level, to a total of 15 perks, after the first two from the doc's house. And about 10 or so more perks with all the dlcs.
The dlc's tell the story of your chracter and where he came from.
I must have watched this vid and the old one about 50 times in the last few days you two are such an entertaining combo
I really love the stuff Badger puts out.
When Kip laughs it just reminds me of Brad Dourif when he laughs as Chucky in the Child's Play/Chucky Movies
I forgot badger's comment about speech and barter, I was drinking coffee when he said it almost spit mah drink 😂😂😂😂 I love how accurate his explanation on that subject is though, also love the commentary from kip basically lining up with how I'd react 👍👍👍👍
One every few levels, to a max of seven-ten I believe (with all the dlcs)
Fun fact, the build shown in this video is actually fucking broken and works way to well
I love "walks on water agility" because in Oblivion you could skip acroos the water with enough acrobatics
Oblivion was just an experience.
IIRC there is a diference between Miss Fortune and Mysterious Stranger.
The Stranger can one-shot one target you choose on vats.
The Miss makes something critically fail. Like weapons blow up. Or shoot a grenade if the target has it on its inventory. And when she finds nothing, there is a chance she shoots a rocket on the target.
that video is legendary, it's so tight there is NO way anyone can make a better video on new vegas
Honestly this video is just that iconic.
9:05 Something Something FEV
I love it but why does bro got that coyote laugh
I wonder if Russian Badger ever did a video on Outer World's......
He could have some fun with that....
Good olde Obsidian, like a warm blanket of memories, and trauma
I'm doing an Abraham Lincoln run of Fallout 4
That's why the game tells you to go to primm and then novac through nipton
i like how his VR model software was picking up the sound of the video as him talking, so the whole video his VR model is going :o
While I watch this imma take a sip from my trusty Vault 13 Canteen
34:47 is, is the reaper a gardener in this universe? A sickle? REALLY? Not a Scythe mind you, but a SICKLE?!?!?!
I’m now laughing at a picture of death just gardening in his free time
One of my favorite KIP reactions in the catalogue! 😊.
"Does anybody like the NCR?"
"Thats Impossible"
There are precisely two characters that will always stick with me. One was a man with green hair and a box-shaped head named Neggbert Puncherson, and the other was the magnificent Gill Bates with pale dead skin, beady black eyes, and a nose so long and crooked it pokes through several of the helmets in the game. Truly wondrous tales those men told.
My biggest problem with vegas was how often my dam wepons broke........ oh hey deathclaw bang, bang, ting.... ahhh fck my rifle broke again
NCR: Familiarity
Caesar's Legion: Brute Force
Independent: Forced Harmony
Mr. House: Long term investments
You can get a Blade of the West from Lonesome Road, it's basically the same as the East variant, but slightly weaker.
During the lonesome road you can get the blade of the west a near carbon copy of the blade of the east so you can actually use a near copy of the legates sword
in Fallout games i normally go max intelligence and max charisma and just say f*ck every other stat i dont neet them.
yep always max luck for me, my friends say i'ma lucky bastard so livinv up to it lol :P also bloody mess is a fun as hell trait ;)
I'd argue that no faction is the best. Not even Independent.
Legion is definitely the _worst_ faction though
“Dont know any major interaction that usses charisma” umm what every boss fight can be avoided with charisma thats like what fallouts known for
Currently building a 60s style sci-fi character in my game. Didn't have issues with scorpions, but entomology perk does seem to help my plasma gun melt them easily. Would love a new Vegas stream if you're up for it.
Fun fact house has two female base seciutrons
One is in game the other got cut but is still cannon .
Source Veronica and the devs ...house has some fucked up shit
Apparently the rad scorpions are there to discourage you from going that direction and instead funnel you south
Fav moment in Fallout NV is when I discovered the Hotkey Ammo Glitch...
Everybody looking for that platinum chip when I got that platinum drip
in Fallout 3 and NV change the VATS key from V to Q like it is in FO4. The only thing the Fiends don't take are mentats. Their traps are the worst.
Benny's so pissed about being crucified he stopped being charismatic for 5 seconds
Best moment in new vegas
14:30 what in the name of hell is Odo from DS9 doing in a nuclear wasteland!
Future reference for you if you haven't played. Destroy everything you want before walking in to the strip.
Between fallout New Vegas and fallout 4 deathclaws are hands down for me more scarier than cassadors because I be walking around all of a sudden boom deathclaw right up in my face
Hey Skippy here's a fun fact: if you find a golf club and use it to kill Mr. House you get an achievement referencing bioshock
And in bioshock 2 if you telekineticly grab a golf club and carry it over to the Andrew Ryan exhibit in chapter 4 I believe you can throw it at the dummy of Ryan and get the " 9 irony" achievement
NV is great because
Sinon's Hecate is best weapon
There is no new game plus, so you don't have anything to use the blade of the east on. But there are different weapons with the same model you can get before the final mission.
yes, there is a third option to end the game, where YOU take over the army of killbots with Yes Man's help and together you nuke both the NCR and the Legion, making New Vegas an independent body with you in control and the Securitrons keeping it safe. Frankly its always the option I pick because I hate the NCR and the Legion.
