Damn you, sir, you've made me so homesick for Scotland. Just the views in the background were enough ... Glad you felt welcome, and your goodwill and enthusiasm for Scotland, combined with a readiness to take things as you find them, is more than sufficient repayment. So lang may yer lums reek ;-)
Hello Daniel, just wanted to say that I loved your video. I have lived in Scotland for a few years now and it's great to get a fresh take. Keep up the awesomeness x
I really want to live in Scotland, even though I've never been there.:P And this is the first time I hear that roundabouts aren't common in the US, in the Netherlands they're everywhere. Very convenient.
I miss your videos! You're so funny I had to pause the video to laugh a few times and the information you give is wonderful. I know I've raved about your channel before, but if you're still in Scotland just make another video or two. Pretty please :p
Yay! I'm glad you liked it! I have more videos inbound, so keep an eye out. I had to take a couple weeks off because of finals, but I'll have a new one up by tomorrow!
Just my thoughts: 1-you Dont suck..You BOTH are Blessed to have each other! 2-The Mainland people may be Unapproachable, And Yes Rude at times...BUT...In Hawaii, They are Friendly, Beautiful People who help out the "Foreigners" too. Mahalo (thank you) for that Wonderful Video. Blessings to you Both! 💜
+LettersHome Funny how you like silly little things! You study, or work here? I really dont see many differences in our economy, eg how we buy things, what u would do in the morning, where you would go for your tobacco etc.Apart from everything being far more expensve here dont you think? Its caled rio-off britain for good reason. When I was cuning how muc for the cst of livng in the US/Canada I was like "this is AMAZING"!
I'm studying here at the University of stirling. Yeah, it's very similar to the US in a lot of ways as far as daily life goes. It's mainly just the little differences that I notice. The cost of living is a bit more expensive for some things, although I have noticed the essential, basic foods are much cheaper here. Bread, milk, cheese etc. The thing that is cheaper in the states are the 'high quality' meats and stuff like that.
LettersHome Stirling is a nice city for daily life, even going for a drink or something to eat after work/school. Hmm, I always thought the US, or some parts of it were much cheaper! Depends where you go of course I suppose! Like your videos m8! Keep up good work.
Scottish bees are cool. Mon the bees. Scottish wood wasps and hornets on the other hand. Run for your life. You can hear them coming a mile away. They sound like a helicopter formation.
Please don't do that Edinborrow thing that Americans tend to do. It's Edinbruh, you should know that by now. Apart from that, great video and very fair.
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your video you really highlight some fun facts and pleasant thoughts. I'm also living in Scotland from Australia, I have to say there are lots of similarities and people here have similar humour and attitudes to Australians which makes me feel right at home. I generally find Americans annoying (sorry) but you my friend are far from it. I love your fast speech, I watch old Hollywood films to enjoy speedy dialogue and it was refreshing to hear a quick and funny American.
Haha, thanks! Yeah, it's strange the longer I have been here the more annoying most American tourists have been. I had no idea we were so frickin LOUD! Thanks for watching my videos, I really appreciate it!
+heather calder Sure, I have plenty! First and foremost, no matter what type of Visa you are applying to get, I would recommend starting the process as soon as your particular application will let you do so. The UK Visa process is long and complicated, and the rules differ for what sort of visa you are planning on getting, but no matter which one you are going for they all take a long time, and they all end up being more of a hassle than you thought it would be (or at least, that was my case, and the case of several other people I know who have come here). But don't let that put you off. This is a beautiful country and was worth every second of hassle. Second, what sort of suggestions are you looking for? Like where to live or how to settle or what places have good food? Are you coming to live permanently or just for school or work? Whereabouts in the highlands were you looking to live?
+LettersHome I am wanting to move their permanently. I do not enjoy the USA, my goal is to one day live on a farm and survive off land and agricultural business I do not know much about the highlands.
Well then my first piece of advice is to research the settlement visa process extensively, but the gist is this: the UK visa process works on points and tiers. You get more points for being more valuable to the country, and different tiers give you different opportunities (like the ability to work within the country or eventually settle). As far as I understand it, you need to be working within the UK for 5 years before they let you apply to settle permanently. Check out www.tier12345.co.uk/ for more info on the tiers, and check out www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration for more general info on how to settle in the UK. Either way, I can tell you that farming is a huge industry here, most of the open land in Scotland is dedicated to farms and sheep. So that may work in your favor, but I am by no means an immigration lawyer, so don't hold me to any of this. But I really hope some of what I said can help you, or at least point you in the right direction!
I haven't caught up on your other videos (this is the first one i've seen).. but my fiance lives in scotland and i'm in the U.S. I'm trying to decide if I should move to scotland or if he should move here. I'm from Indiana.. are you glad you are in Scotland? or do you find yourself missing home a lot. I'm most nervous about finding a job..
I absolutely love Scotland, especially since I'm from New Mexico and the desert I'm used to is drastically different to all the greenery and rain here. There are a few things I miss about home, which you can see in my thanksgiving video, mostly I miss my friends and family more than anything else, but skype and what'sap have helped a lot with that. I love it here so much that my girlfriend and I are seriously considering buying a place here, renting it out while we are in the states and then having a place to stay so we can come back whenever we want. As far as the job front goes, it's been difficult for me to find a job, but that's because of my visa restrictions. In your case you'll be wanting to get a settlement/marriage visa, which is a whole different ballgame. I'm not a lawyer or anything, but I'm pretty sure that visa will allow you to work full time, so it should be easier finding work.
Whatever you decide to do though (you moving here, or him moving to the states) I would highly recommend talking to an immigration lawyer. Marriage visas are extremely complex whether your getting one for the UK or the US. The good news though, is that once you have them, you'll eventually get residency and you can move back and forth as much as you want. I hope some of what I said helps; I know it's a little rambling. And thank you so much for watching my videos! I really appreciate the support!
Thanks for the reply! I appreciate you taking the time to respond :) I'll definitely keep all of this in mind.. and I look forward to watching your guys' journey!!
I had to switch the playback speed to 0.75%. I actually had to toy about with the possibility of 0.5% being necessary. That was only too slow by a narrow margin.
I just play it back at 0.75% speed, and it seems normal then. For this particular video, I even contemplated the 0.5% playback speed, but that was too slow. I think if there was something in between those two, I would have taken it.
We're v inclusive and decent to our visitors, in Scotland. And you've never done the famous, spit on the heart of Midlothian. P.s. search youtube video, spitting on the heart. lol
I wouldn't eat more Arugula or Rocket or whatever the fudge anyone else wanted to call it hahah, I hate that shit. Accidentally added some to a smoothie 3 weeks ago when I thought I'd dug my hand in to the kale bag...big mistake urghh.
I'm surprised so many people were social and came up to speak to you.. I live in Scotland and it seems like I rarely speak to people I don't know out in the streets. I thought we were more antisocial than anything 😂
Trust me, it's way worse in the states. Especially in big cities. Like, if you even try to strike up a conversation with someone at a bus stop or something like that, it's not uncommon to be met with hostility or weird looks. It's like people think you must be crazy if you're willing to talk to a random person.
Someones's obviously lost their John robot and he's gotten all the way to Scotland. Just ignore it though, it's not like we-- I mean THEY are trying to take over the world or anything. [Insert Star Wars quote here]
how do you manage to talk and still survive? holy crap dude pause for breathe every now and again. very interesting fun video but hard to listen to at times.
Damn you, sir, you've made me so homesick for Scotland. Just the views in the background were enough ...

Thanks to this video I told my fiancee we're moving to Scotland, no discussion! Thanks for the great info!
To find the Thomas Riddle grave; pass through the Flodden Wall; turn right and go down to the far right corner.

Hmmm. Is it bad that I knew you were in the University of Stirling just from the toilets? (How I miss that city)
Omg. This was the most entertaining thing I've seen all day. I'm so glad I found you. You're hilarious!
Yay! I'm glad you liked it! I have more videos inbound, so keep an eye out. I had to take a couple weeks off because of finals, but I'll have a new one up by tomorrow!
+LettersHome Awesome! I'm definitely keeping a look out for your vids.
This absolutely made my day, so so funny but extremely relevant. 😂

What a gem of a channel I have found. :)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my weird, amateur-hour, silly little videos!

You look a lot like John Green from Crash Course
Haha! I get that a lot, actually. Hopefully that means I'll be just as successful! Thanks for watching!
slow down mate. don't speak so fast. I cant keep up lol.
I noticed about two minutes in you're in Stirling. It's interesting to hear your perspective on living here. : )
Yep! We're here to attend the Uni. I adore it here!
I freaking love your vlogs so much
Ah, Sirling University. That's a blast from the past..
Hey! Loving your videos! I randomly stumbled upon them whilst searching for my own profile. Great stuff.
Enjoy!
+Scotland Is Awesome Thanks for watching! I'm loving living here in your homeland. Whereabout Scotland are you from?
Have a look at my page if you like ridiculous songs made using the various characters' dialogues from Home Alone 2, by the way!
Haha, I already did. That's way more creative than anything I could ever come up with! Well done!
1. What are you on? 2. Are you exhausting to live with? 😁😁😁
he sounds like he's trying to copy the vlogbrothers old videos
Scottish bees are cool. Mon the bees. Scottish wood wasps and hornets on the other hand. Run for your life. You can hear them coming a mile away. They sound like a helicopter formation.
Dougaldinho Fishdinho Wood wasps look fierce but they don’t actually sting.
this deserves more views and subs
Please don't do that Edinborrow thing that Americans tend to do. It's Edinbruh, you should know that by now. Apart from that, great video and very fair.
As a recent college grad from America looking to relocate to Scotland, do you have any tips or advice on making the big move?
OMG! At 2:17 you were standing in front of the guesthouse we stayed in; in Stirling.

Are you in Stirling.
Yes, he said he was in Stirling at the beginning. He just talks so fast you missed it!
Thanks
I loved this video lol. You're great. I'm so jealous, I live in Oregon. I would love to move over there.
I am thinking of moving to the highlands. any suggestions?

No, thank you for watching and engaging with my dumb little videos! I just hope some of what I say helps you.
Hate the way Americans say Edinburgh the wrong way
They say 'Edinbro', it should be 'Edinbuura'.
you speak to fast for my Scottish ears to translate....NOW you know how Scottish people feel when we get a blank look for ANYTHING we say lol..
I had to switch the playback speed to 0.75%. I actually had to toy about with the possibility of 0.5% being necessary. That was only too slow by a narrow margin.
I had to slow it down, too, as he *does* talk very fast. Sounds a little weird, then, though.
It is not yellow, is is amber.
WILL --- YOU --- PLEASE ---SLOW ---DOWN!!!!!!
I just play it back at 0.75% speed, and it seems normal then. For this particular video, I even contemplated the 0.5% playback speed, but that was too slow. I think if there was something in between those two, I would have taken it.
You're right about the lights man ;)

Lol, seriously! I've gotten so used to them that I don't know how I'll adjust when we get back home.
Really good video but there is a Costco in springburn😁😂
This video is really funny. I have to second and say you are so similar to John Green. An English major like him!
Remember, non prescription drugs like paracetamol are more expensive but prescription drugs are free
