And it sounds fantastic! With the baffle in place, the sound is robust and full throughout the rev range and my neighbors only moderately hate me. Great thanks to both M4 and Sportbike Track Gear for a great addition to my new toy, and a shout out to Brian and the crew at STG for a warm welcome, tour of the facility, and the opportunity to hang out for a few hours. did you have to flash your ECU? I want to order one, but don't want to send my ECU in somewhere to get flashed during riding season and would rather wait for the winter for that, but I don't want to do damage if it runs too lean.
Got the install done yesterday with the aid of from this video. Thanks guys. I will say that getting the secondary exhaust on the header pipe was a BIG bitch. That thing was TIGHT.
We have not ridden the bike so I can not comment on the fuel consumption. That said my expectations are there would be no real difference. As for tuning the bike if you ride the bike and are happy with the performance no need to get it tuned. If you find yourself wanting a little more refinement then you should get the bike tuned. Hope this helps. - Van
Great video helped a lot. I did not see a reason to mess with the rear set or reverse a bracket fyi. Mine is a 22 mt09 not sure if that matters, but no issues regardless.
You guys f’ing rock. Thanks for the walkthrough. Also, I spoke with M4 and the 2021 does work with the 2022 model which is what I just bought. They said some retailers haven’t had a chance to update and add the 2022 compatibility yet.
Did you have any problem with the mufflers not seating tight? Mine leaks and are not tight fit and I can't push them any further in due to bracket, it would align with the hole if I push it in further
No we did not have any problem with them on this bike. The joints are meant to slip together easily when new and will seal up more over time with use. - Van

I know this is an old video, but how the hell did you put that hindge back behind the radiator without issues? I’ve installed everything and torque it down but now I’m having issue putting the hjndge back because it isn’t lining up with the hole in the bottom.
The OEM flanges are thicker than the M4 so I would not torque them to the same number as this will bend them. You need to tighten them by hand right to the point where they start to bend in a bit and stop. This is what I do on all of the bikes and have never had an issue. - Van
Has anyone seen or heard additional audio of the M4 exhaust. All I’ve seen is this video and a handful of ecu runs. Nothing out doors, on the road or even with a walk around. I’m hoping that Austin racing comes out with something soon. Currently the M4 is the only one that I like the look and sound of.
With an aftermarket system the torque value would be different due to the exhaust flanges being different thickness and design. Use the method we show you in this video and you will get a good result. - Van
Permatex Ultra Copper Maximum Temperature RTV Silicone Gasket Maker www.sportbiketrackgear.com/permatex-ultra-copper-maximum-temperature-rtv-silicone-gasket-maker/
According to Yoshimura, the stock Yamaha exhaust system weighs 15.6 pounds. Just as a general service to UA-camrs I mention this. M4 claims 6 pound weight savings, so I'd say the M4 system weighs about 9.6 pounds. I've noticed the Akrapovic and Yoshimura headerpipes for the '21 MT-09 have crossover tubes between the header runners. M4 must not have determined those to be necessary for exhaust scavenging? Arrow doesn't use them on the '21 either.
We weighed this on a digital scale Joe brought with him. When M4 develops a system Kyle spends a ton of time on the dyno to make sure it makes the most power possible. If his system does not have a crossover it did not need one. Perhaps the additional silencer is the difference. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Cool beans. Yeah some manufacturers use the crossover pressure tubes, it may shape the power curve slightly differently than without them. Similarly to velocity stacks on the intake, moves the power curve around.
Thoughts on the new MT09 bike as a whole? I've got a first gen FZ09 with almost 70k miles on it, and even though it's still capable of pulling 3rd gear power wheelies, some day she'll wear out and I'll be hunting for a new bike. Is this new machine a capable beast? The first gen needed a lot of tweaking to make it rideable- ECU flash, manual CCT, suspension were all mandatory IMO.

We installed this on a customers bike that lives in PA. He has reached out after riding it and said he is happy with the sound and performance. Important to note when M4 manufacturers a pipe making power is the priority. They have their own dyno and use this extensively when building a new pipe. There is a 0.0% chance M4 would sell a pipe that would reduce the performance of your bike. - Van
@Sportbike Track Gear I believe that no manufacturer builds a part that would intentionally reduce power. That being said there are tunes for a reason. Some parts or exhausts require a tune specifically to produce the full potential of power. Without tunes, adding exhausts can and will bog down an engine. I personally have the M4 for my FZ07 and I love it but it sure killed my torque until I tuned it. I don't care if your customer loves it cuz I know they do. But do you have numbers or plan on obtaining numbers to show no impact on torque?
@@jtcosimmonsma7071 I just put this same full exhaust system on my 2024 MT-09 and it actually feels noticeably more powerful. Not a ton, but it was noticeable for sure with power wheelies.
@@sportbiketrackgear I won't say there isnt an increase in HP or torque without a tune, but I can't understand how any professional would not at least mention that these bikes come from the factory running lean and adding any kind of full performance exhaust will make it run even leaner. I think as those headers get a few thousand miles of stones flinging at them they are not going to look very nice. Also concerned the lambda sensor only seems to be picking up exhaust from one cylinder. Other manufacturers make sure it's a mixture of all cylinders

I don't think there will be any flames with any exhaust you put on this bike because Yamaha removed the AIS with this engine redesign. No AIS means no air injected into the exhaust chambers, so no unspent fuel being ignited in the exhaust.
