Guys I can confirm this, Frankie Palmeri is one of the coolest dudes you'll ever meet. Met him after the Eternal Enemies tour just chilling around. Seriously he's always either up for a conversation or he's willing to take a picture. The dude is pretty damn cool to the say the least. Even if you talk shit about his music I still think he's a good person at heart. Trust me on this one. But if you had negative experiences with this guy. Go ahead tell me.

Everybody wants a band to move on and change their sounds whenever they remain who they were that made us love them. But then when bands change their sound to 'branch out' people disown them for saying they've changed.
These guys got me hyped in 06 when they were still CT boys. And they still get me hyped to this day. I love the punch chugging. And it's only getting heavier and better as recording technology progresses.

As much as I agree, only having open notes on the open low string isn't that interesting either. Progressive music is more so about the groove and feel of the song, not necessarily technicality but they can be quite complex. But hey, everyone has their own opinions.

Groove? Listen to Meshuggah or Pelican or something if you want an actual heavy groove, not the same open notes played over and over again on every song ever.
Slower, more straight forward, less goofy lyrics and a stotic music video that shows emmure to be exactly what they are. A band made for live shows. Nothing more needed from this video, nothing less. I approve heavily.

Everyone always rips apart Frankie and Emmure. I don't get it. They've been around a long time, they're obviously successful, they still have 3 original members, and they honestly have developed their own style to their music. Frankie writes all his songs with a definate style to his lyrics. It may not be the most complicated music ever but people enjoy it and they have a devoted fanbase. They're not my favorite but I have much respect for them. End rant.

yeah, i just read that all four band mates quit on frankie. but emmure is still touring (they have the chaos tour next month) so i'm guessing frankie is continuing with the band. i think frankie is what made emmure anyways... i think he'll put out a new album. i'll let ya know after i see them on halloween if the new band mates (or temporary) are any good!

In 2007-2009, it was the cool thing to be in drop A# or drop A and have a melodic vibe to your sound. Emmure jumped on that. Fast forward to today, where djent is fucking everywhere, and tuning is now down to drop Ab, G, and F; Emmure is all over that, too. Now, Nu-Metal is making a comeback (WHY!?!?!). Emmure will probably eat that up as well. Whatever trend is in, Emmure will without question embrace it.

Goddamn, Goodbye To The Gallows was my jam for a while. I really enjoyed that album. Still do to an extent. Every album since then just got worse and worse. Speaker Of The Dead was easily the worst. Remember Word Of Intulo? Literally one note song. At Drop Eb. Why?

well, except for the fact that they have indeed changed on every cd. yes they've kept the same core sound, but like call of duty, various features and elements of it have been expanded or altered with every release. anyone with a critical ear can tell definite stylistc and thematic distinctions in each Emmure album. I could go on, but I think you get my point.

This is the first song I've heard from these guys, and I honestly think seeing this shit live would be more entertaining and energetic - I nearly fell asleep watching this.
I wouldn't even be the slightest surprised if these guys put on a fantastic live show, like letlive do.
I've seen them live, and yes dude, they are one of the best live acts I've witnessed, even surpassing the Korn show I saw. while the guitar players typically have one expression, that's more due to personality, and you can immediately tell live. They feed off the crowd, and it's absolutely brutal.
If this is the first you've heard of them I suggest going back in time to the album felony or goodbye to the gallows much more entertaining.

That's a bit of a hyperbole. You can basically say it's the "same shit" for virtually every band in existence unless they went from pop to metal or rap or some shit; basically a group that changed genres altogether. The reason it sounds similar to you is because with the exception of some minor lineup changes, they're essentially the same band with every record/song. Now if you listen to Goodbye to the Gallows and then listen to Slave to the Game, any dipshit can see there is a noticeable difference unless you're just so bias towards them you're unwilling to admit it.
As I'm sure you know, most Emmure fans don't listen to this band for its innovative use of instruments and creativity or unparalleled lyrics. I personally listen to them, as you said, because they're a heavy, fun band to bang your head to. I also appreciate Frankie's growls (but I can't say I really care for the rapped vocals).

I think it's a step up from the last album, possibly speaker of the dead for sure, but not a 10/10 musically. Production makes it pretty cool though, but Joey Sturgis usually makes that happen with bands who write a lot of breakdown drivin stuff.

The way that I see this band, as a whole, is a guilty pleasure- a "junk food" band, if you will. Yes, the lack of musicianship is apparent, and for the most part, it is pretty generic when compared to, from what I saw, Animals As Leaders and other bands that are more driven and technical (why AAL was used in the first place to compare to something from a totally different genre is beyond me).
However-
This is one of those bands that make music specifically to invoke anger when listened to alone and to mosh and knock the shit out of each other when seen live. It's exactly like club music- you would not normally listen to songs like Where Them Girls At? unless you were at the club where the monotony is ignored and everyone is dancing or alone while in a drunken stuper.
Same thing here. Emmure is usually a band to mosh to at concerts, and club music is usually for clubbing at bars. With "hardcore" music like Emmure, you participate just to have fun, not to try and bask in the genius of the musicality of the band.
You may see it differently, but this is how I've observed it. Makes sense when you actually participate in moshes, though. The heavier the music, the more aggressive people will get. It doesn't matter if the music is technical, just as long as it is heavy or brutal. This is, unfortunately, the sad truth in most "hardcore" bands today.
Before you go flying off the handle with "Oh, so you don't like technical music?" comments (believe me, some people are really that stupid to assume that), I enjoy kinds of music, and am a musician myself. I revel in technicality in perfect harmony with musicality, but I also like to indulge in "junk food" bands like Emmure to blow off some steam and knock a few heads in inside the pit. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here.
