📌 For the watercolor lover who is eager to paint with freedom and authenticity without the shadows of doubt limiting their creativity, this free 3-day live online watercolor retreat is crafted just for you.
📌We're going to come together and paint 9 wildflowers expressively, without the pressure of having the 'perfect' tools.
Is buying more art supplies the secret to better paintings? 🎨✨ I used to think that more colors, more brushes, more everything was the answer. But truth is: creativity can’t be bought.
It’s not about how many supplies we have, but how we connect with them to express what’s truly within us.
I will be extending this conversation of how we can free our creativity at the Paint and Petal online watercolor Retreat (and guess what - this retreat is FREE!).
We're going to come together and paint 9 wildflowers expressively, without the pressure of having the 'perfect' tools. It’s about coming back to our true selves and painting from a place of joy and freedom.
Maybe it’s time to stop chasing tools and start creating your own magic. 🌸🖌️
📌Join The Floral Foundation - a $7/ month membership where I help artists to get started and fill the gaps in their self-taught journey with greater structure and guidance so they can spend more time painting and less time connecting the dots. You be surprised at the value you get for the cost of a fancy coffee at Starbucks

Over the years I purchased thousands of dollars of art supplies, fooling myself into thinking they would make me a great Artist. They didn't. I have finally learned that finding my joy in art, and just doing it, is what brings me happiness, not lots of unused supplies.
Amen! I whole heartedly agree!😊
I am an art supply hoarder. I keep telling myself I will NOT buy anything else but it's been difficult. When I'm bored and /or frustrated with my art or feel like my muse has left me, I buy something new to inspire me. Rarely does it have the desired effect and often leaves me feeling shame for buying things I truly don't need. I am really trying to rein myself in as I've finally realized that more stuff does not equate to more or better art.
Well said!!! I feel so too...
And i too say. Amen to That!
I’m the opposite… I find more joy in the obsession…. The days/weeks of researching whatever craft has taken my fancy that week/month, reading thousands of posts on those items in FB groups and Reddit, watching hours and hours of UA-cam videos, scouring websites for where I can get them in New Zealand and then finally pulling the pin and buying those well-researched supplies, the dopamine hit from receiving them, swatching, omg, I LOVE swatching…..cataloguing or organising … and them storing them around my craftroom so they look pretty… over actually using any of the supplies for art …because, I can’t actually draw anyways… and then I lose the oomph for them and find something else… iI’ve come to the realisation that I just want ALL the shinies and that is why my craftroom looks like an arts and craft store… but it makes me happy to see it all and the possibility that ONE DAY I might use it 😂😂😂😂
Collecting art supplies and making art are two different hobbies 😅
Hahahaha you could be on to something!
Thank you for that reminder. I love your style of storytelling and painting!
Wow, Jillian! Love seeing your haul and your painting. I agree approaching a painting with curiosity is the way to go. It’s so hard to let go of expectations sometimes!
Jillian, you are a sweetheart Thank you for sharing your painting process & your thoughts!
Thank u for being here Joyce!!
I totally relate to you. Love art supplies!
Me too can never resisy
I so agreed with your thoughts as you painted . I find it so hard to just play as I always want it to be a masterpiece even though I know I learn more by experimenting Can we really have to many art supplies and art books :-)
😂 You have a wonderful sense of humor. This was so funny, I’m sharing it with my husband!!
Hahah glad you enjoyed it°
This is so good, what a wonderful haul ☺☺
I would not be able to join live but I would love to watch later when recorded. Will you let us know when we can watch NOT live! Thank you so much. I love your beautiful work.
Ha ha! Collecting art supplies is fun. I can relate to this title.
😂it really is!!! Too fun...
I love your shopping haul! I think I have an art supply addiction, Hahaha! While I am sure I do not need all of the different supplies I have, I really enjoy having so many options to use on my paintings to add interest, texture and color.
I always learn something about myself when I watch you. Thanks for sharing your struggles as well as your successes! Also, I think you should NEVER feel guilty about getting new art supplies
so nice 😍❤
Will you please share the colors you used in the floral painting? I love them. ❤️❤️
I have noticed I made more art when I had less supplies, but then I got scared, I will run out (when I was a kid, I was poor and actually did run out of some). Now I have lot more, and it's like a bit difficult to decide which one shall I use... Love them all though, and used them all at least a few times.
The other thing is, when I look back at some of the art I made and did not like at the time, I do like now.
I also love the flow of the painting you made, love the variety of colours and the way you use the brush makes me curious of that brush movement society, was it?
I hope you don’t mind me saying but I prefer when people talk to their art supplies. Just my opinion. I didn’t watch the whole video because I was frustrated.
Everyone has different feelings and yours are valid 😀
The music is hurting my ears
