    Saved me a bundle by learning to do it myself from your video! It was good to have a pool dealer who knew exactly the parts I needed, a total of $53 in parts, and my time. Thanks

    Thanks so much‼️🔥. After 30 years of relying on my top notch Pool Company, I was inspired by your video to attempt DIY. My 1st attempt was unsuccessful as I over tightened the impeller- no worries because you already had covered that issue- after rewatching your excellent video, I was up & running 15 minutes later. I purchased the whole seal/gasket kit on Amazon for $15 next day delivery. Greatly appreciated the seal part #👍Well done, easy to follow, detailed video. Thank You Again‼️‼️‼️

    Great video dude, very precise & easy to follow. Hardest part was the wiring, and that’s because of the way it was wired at my pump room (inside and hard to access). Had it removed, repaired and replaced in about an hour. Rebuild kit was 20 plus tax, versus 850 for new pump and motor, so THANKS!!! Keep up the good work 😎👍

    Thank you, Excellent video! Opening the pool is always a difficult task, at best. Add a problem and it can be expensive. I was able to take my pump apart, install the new parts, and put it back together all in about an hour. Oldman had to rest every now and then.
    Thank you for the links to Amazon parts, I was about to order them, but decided to shop around the local pool stores to see if I could get them quickly locally. One guy told me he had kits with the exact parts and wanted $58, but he couldn't tell me what was included. Shopped more, and the guy I bought a kit from included all of the seals and a small bit of the Silicon Lube, all for $26, he told me everything in the kit. I bought that kit. The guy I bought from was very happy he didn't have to come and do it, he was swamped. Honest, good man gets the dollar.
    The Grand Kids will be able to play in Grandma and Papa's pool this weekend! AND we didn't pay $700 for a new pump. I liked, subscribed, and shared the video!

    I had to stretch out the new wet-end ribbon-shaped gasket, the new part kept popping out. It helped. It still leaked and so I'll be working on the wet end's new gasket again later this week for a client. I dislike how thin of a gasket it is.

    Great video. Would a bad seal cause suction issue. I believe it ran dry for a bit. Now have suction issue.

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +2

      Hello, if it ran dry long enough to create heat I run across the Threaded plumbing fitting that thread into the pump can leak air so I normally will re Teflon tape these fittings. I haven't seen the pump seal itself cause a suction issue, just air leaks , impellers and gaskets.

    I followed instructions and replaced the seals and all the gaskets. I still have a lead that seems to be coming through the channel below the diffuser. I was told not to use lube on the pump seal. Is that the most likely place for the leak?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  3 місяці тому +1

      It could be that or a faulty pump seal.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. My 16 yr. old hayward super pump has a small leak that appears to be coming from underneath. Do I need to replace the whole seal? How do i know it is not just a housing seal plate gasket, or the diffuser gasket?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  Рік тому +2

      There is a small seep hole on the back plate where the motor attaches if the water is coming from there it's the pump seal. Normally is the pump seal

      If procedure was done properly then I would say you got a bad seal. It's rare but I have had to replace a few twice.

    My inground pool maindrain works fine. But cant get steady suction on skimmers. Hook up vaccum and loose all suction. Took valve off no obstruction. Eventually my bottom left housing 9 16th bolt area began leaking by gasket..but i couldnt vaccum before that.any suggestions??

    I have a pump like that and the suction is weak and output is low flow. I've tried to take it apart but the upper right bolt seems to just spin like the nut is stripped inside of the housing. I've tried to backflow to try to clean the impeller in the water seems to flow through the impeller area back into the basket area like there's no blockage but when the pump is plugged in Hook to water lines going into the pool without a filter I can put my hand on the line my fingers in the line and it's barely sucking water and when the output of the pump is pushing water out of that line it's like it's coming off of slow flow water hose out of your house I would think it'd be throwing at least three feet from that hose but it's just drizzling out like slow flow house water hose what could it be me quit the impeller be worn out could there be a seal inside of there stopping it from having suction

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  3 роки тому +6

      With out actually inspecting the impeller its tough to diagnose the problem at hand. I have seen these impellers torn apart on the inside from one rock getting inside. Also seen leaves get through the pump basket and clog the impeller. If the motor is running good I would say your gonna have to get it apart some how and I'm sure your gonna need a new wet end side of the pump for a new bolt housing. Just use the model number of the pump when looking for a new wet end there about 100 bucks for a generic one. Impeller same thing model number and Horse power of motor. They got to match. So long story short theres really nothing that would slow the water flow down as much as your talking but a clogged line or resistance from dirty filter, bad impeller, bad diffuser gasket, or bad motor.

      Sounds like the threaded insert in your plastic housing is spinning while you are turning the bolt. If you can get the other 3 out, you can probably “ lightly “ pry the housing off( the threaded insert should come out of the housing, still attached to the bolt) if so, then you can hold the insert to get the bolt off. If after all this and if you don’t damage anything, after you replace the seals/gaskets, you could epoxy the insert back into the housing, careful not to get epoxy on the threads, and it should hold. You don’t need to tighten the bolts up very hard, as he shows in the video. Probably need to replace the impeller also, since you don’t have any suction/pressure. Good luck 👍

    How long do these seals usually last? Im on season 5 of my new pool and is leaking already, is this normal?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Edward, pump seal life expectancy varies. I have had them last 10 plus years and I have had them only make it a year. It totally depends on the environment that surrounds them meaning pool PH and the main cause that I come across that shortens their life span is dry running pumps or pumps that have lost their prime for several hours creating heat from the impeller just treading a small amount of water and even if none of the above pertains to your situation you have to remember that the pump seal is about the cheapest part in the actual pump being only 5-20 dollars for a new one. Hope this helped and yes 5 years is pretty average on having to replace one.

    *** PLEASE HELP*** I have a Hayward 1 hp pump motor that’s leaking in the same place, but It doesn’t say super pump, but the pump model number is SP2605X7. Would that motor take the same part number for the seals??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

      @@Poolelementary I found it by the model number of the pump. It appears there are many many pumps out there by Hayward that use the exact same gasket kit. It looked like probably 20-30 pumps use the same one. I do think it’s the same parts you were using in the video. I just ordered a gasket kit for that pump, and I’ll just keep any I don’t need until I do need them. Thanks for your response, you surely help hundreds of people, and I just want you to know that you are appreciated greatly for teaching all of us who watch your videos. Thanks again!

      If it's a slow leak from the pump shaft seal you should be alright running it for a week or so but I can't make that call without seeing it. If you do run it just keep an eye on it!

    Ya definitely don’t have to pull the drain plug. The water will run out while removing the bolts. An pulling it apart.
    Removing the plug is just an extra step.
    Ad most loosen the clear lid cover

    Just change seal and gasket with lots of silicone but pump have a leak by top right between housing and plate
    Gasket is perfect place and new .
    And bolts are tight why keep leaking like a pin hole right between plate and housing 😢😢😢
