Sorry my drunk broher got a little out of hand at your sale.
It's so much fun watching counter-top ice makers make ice. Also, I've never had Walmart look in the box to make sure the item I'm returning is actually the right item. It probably has a lot to do with how busy the service desk is. If you'd like a suggestion for the blankets that customers are taking out of the packaging (people are garbage); I roll blankets up like a sausage and use big rubber bands to keep then all tidy. That way if the customer "unpacks" it, it's an easy fix.

As far as Walmart opening returns, no not usually. Between family working there and personal returns they never opened the boxes even when they were opened already they didn't look into them.

Deleted Listing: when eBay removes a listing for a policy violation or Vero, it is so annoying the way they do it. Why they don't just move it over to the Un-sold category is beyond me. It's like they're punishing Sellers by wiping the data so completely, just to make it harder. They even do it for minor issues and send a note that says you can re-list it (like they did your item), once the issue is fixed, but it's not that simple. Usually even their Customer Service reps can't call the listing up. I have a couple items, like a Pocket Knife that I still haven't found because when they wiped, the Custom SKU data was lost, so there is no reference for a storage bin location. eBay added GSP to the listing (not me) and someone in England flagged it for a policy violation. The fix was for me to take off the GPS option, but I have know idea which bin it's in. Last time they pulled an item for a safety recall, but the reference they sent was for an entirely different product, so after review, they let me re-list it on eBay, but all the data is gone. So I did all the work to list it again and their Bot called it out a second time. So annoying!!

I remember a boss i once worked for who said she gave her managers the benefit of the doubt when dealing with bad customers, except for swearing at a customer.
So, my critique of how Tim handled that guy is he shouldn't of sworen because that does raise the tension level and in some places that's a fireable offense and when the person was outside the building, don't egg on the customer, because Tim already won with getting the guy out of building. Which should be the ultimate goal. Egging the customer on is counterproductive. Let the customer be dumb.
Overall, Tim just has a few things to tweak. The swearing can be overlooked because he seemed to recognize the error.

Walmart definitely doesn't check boxes too hard. So I bought an air mattress last year. Get it home and open it and it is clearly someone's old mattress. Had coolaid stains and all that. I took it back and do you know they wouldn't refund me because they said the seal on the top was broken😒😒I told the lady of course it is because I had to open the damn thing but clearly they went in through the bottom and switched out the mattress. Why would you have a seal for the top and not the bottom?" I literally almost got into it with security. I was so pissed! Ever since then I have been very tempted to find a way to make them pay🤷♂🤷♂

Have you thought about using an ultra violet marker on your items when you check them so when they return them you can check with an ultra violet light that it is the same item you sold them. Just an idea

Walmart takes back anything. First Walmart I worked at, customer service allowed someone return used underwear with skid marks in them. 🤢🤮 Walmart is one of the businesses that says the customer is always right.

Assign Ben to do tools and lawn stuff. Mitch to do electronics and kitchen stuff. That way you can figure out who did what in addition to initials on the tags. Maybe a date with the initials.

The color change items you spread around the table so someone would not buy them all,if I saw them on the table ,I would probably gather them up so they are all together and neat. That might put me into one of your annoying customers categories ,lol

Not a horrible result, all considered. The first day being so cold certainly wasn't a help.
Suggestion for you though: if you want to compare apples to apples on your past sales, consider your product mix. You have the same basic amount of space. So where is that extra $2500-$3000 a day gone? If you really want to get apples to apples, eliminate the special buy items and just look at your general inventory. You will see the differences more clearly.
I seem to remember you best sales were like when you had more beauty, toys, and similar stuff. I might be wrong, but you may want to consider that. You might always want consider if the special buy area is really a help or a hinderance. Does it get some people in the door that are just looking at that and touching nothing else? Or do most of the people attending ignore them? Might it be better to set up a special buy display in a warehouse annex area to give you more area for product?

Digital optical audio ports are notoriously fragile. When I worked in the business it was a common return because a customer would be too rough with them and break the connector from the board.
It was almost 80 here lol. I do NOT miss living in Minnesota for 10 years. I will never go that far north again. As for your sale. I am REALLY glad you are doing so well, it gives me hope, as i told you my plans, to mimic very similar to your model. So Hopefully I can do pretty good down here. On returns, I very rarely take returns. Once it leave my property, its yours. I test almost everything before it goes out the door. Unless it's sealed in new box. But, once I open up, it will no longer be a "hobby" for me. It will be my career. So I should probably be nicer to my buyers so I have repeat customers lol. OH OH I means to ask you, you interested in brand new furniture still in box? There is a furniture company here that wholesales closeouts to one pallet sale guy I know. Exclusively, and he sells them super cheap. All new in box, medium to large like ikea furniture but it is shippable. Let me know I will give you the info. He sells tons of other pallets but not many want the furniture as it does not seem to do too well around us.

I've seen boxed dolls on walmart shelves with obviously changed dolls. Like the new bratz being switched for old tatty disney dolls.
I know its a lot of work, but maybe with Ben running the warehouse end, you could just be the only one testing the products so that way quality control begins and ends with you. It looks like Ben has done a good job so far in the back, and that creates a little more time for you to test the products that need to be tested.
