I dont doubt you, but that one is still barely a year old....not old enough to really put in comparison with these older shows for funniest of all time (maybe an honorable mention, but that's it)
Same! I was laughing so hard I cried my makeup off. Legit the best musical I've ever seen. Although Avenue Q is great as well. I need to see The Producers!
I 100% agree!!!! I saw it as a school play and one of my best friends was Aldolpho and he did an amazing job. Seeing it again wouldn’t be the same to me with a different cast
Agreed, seen all of them and they're among my favourites; I'm always pleasantly surprised when I see an American show that has wit and charm to its humour, and whilst Trey Parker and Matt Stone can come across as brash at times, they are both intelligent guys and know how to appeal to a wider audience. I'm not a massive fan of general American humour, yet I love South Park and BoM.
Finally a list that includes Drowsy Chaperone!!!! I have a special place in my heart for this one (and Guys and Dolls). You included both!!!! I literally screamed when Drowsy Chaperone came up
My Favorite Comedy Musicals are "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "Singin' in the Rain", "Xanadu", "The Little Shop of Horrors" and "The Book of Mormon".
I was really surprised that that one was not on the list. That’s probably one of my favorite musicals solely because of the humor. I was in a youth theatre production of into the woods as the wolf during my freshman year of high school
I absolutely love The Producers BUT The Book Of Mormon is definitely the funniest. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this show! The funniest moment for me being the tap dance during Turn It Off. 🤣 “...and if you just put down that gun I’ll show you Oh Ok I leave!” 🙂
I also LOVE the Producers but Book of Mormon is #1 for sure! By FAR the funniest ever. I LOVE musical theatre so I've been to my fair share and Book of Mormon is BY FAR the best time I've ever had at a show. I'm actually the only straight guy I know that really loves musical theatre so I've always had to either go alone or pay double to bring a date (not cheap when you're lower/working class like me.) But Book of Mormon imo isnt just the funniest musical ever, it might be the most accessible as well. Basically anyone would enjoy it as long as they have a sense of humor so I actually got to go with my friends for once and we ALL had such an AMAZING time (all 3 times). I don't why good COMEDIES never seem to get the recognition they deserve btw but I'd even put it up there with the greatest musicals/broadway shows of all time PERIOD. Arguably #1.
Joseph Blumenberg A Theater down the street from my house is doing the show as it’s regional premiere in the fall. I hope to see it! Been wanting to do so since Smallfoot a few months ago
My high school did The Drowsy Chaperone during my senior year. Also, why not Singin' in the Rain? That one makes me laugh the most and it should've been #1.
Wonder why these musicals never made the list? : .You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown .Aladdin .SpongeBob the Musical .Beetlejuice .Young Frankenstein .Shrek the Musical .Seussical the Musical .Kinky Boots
I saw The Producers in London 2004 with Nathan Lane (whom I just adore). Never laughed so much in my life, especially when there were some goofs, or lines were forgotten. The audience just went along with it and cheered.
Also, thank you for not overlooking some truly brilliant older musicals like "A Funny Thing..." and "Guys and Dolls". Marlon Brando singing and dancing is truly hilarious.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for making THE greatest musical (as well as my fave) Number 1!!! Mel Brooks is a genius. I had the honor and delight to be in an amateur production in my city. I was the stage left tank, a little old lady, and a dancing storm trooper.
I LOVE the Producers but Book of Mormon is #1 for sure! By FAR the funniest ever. I LOVE musical theatre so I've been to my fair share and Book of Mormon is BY FAR the best time I've ever had at a show. My stomach hurt after seeing Something Rotten, I have never laughed so hard in the theater in my life (second place is Spamalot, which was also laugh so hard your eyes water funny), even my husband, whose knowledge of musical theatre is limited to what he's picked up from or seen with me over the last 14 years and didn't catch more than maybe a quarter of the references (He enjoys musicals enough to happily watch them with me but they're just not really his Thing) laughed his face off! (Though he would put Spamalot first.)
Omg, when she said 'Make em Laugh' at the beginning of the video, I nearly started crying out of sadness and nostalgia. Around this time last year, a production of 'Singing In The Rain' that I was is got cancelled due to covid. This makes me sad we only thought this pandemic would last a month or two. Quoting the Odd1sout, "Boy were we wrong!"
There are so many funny musicals. One of my favourites is Addams Family. Addams Family is easy to make funny, but the musical is still funny in its own right!
I’ve seen Book of Mormon twice but Avenue Q is funnier. But I’ve been a huge fan of Trey Parker since Cannibal the Musical and Orgasmo already poked fun at Mormons and was great! For movie musicals the South Park Movie was genius. But Book of Mormon wasn’t as funny as I expected, being familiar with their work I guess. Urinetown should have made the top ten. Hail Malthus! These were all good though and not everyone always agrees.
I’ve seen Guys and Dolls Singing in the Rain and Hairspray (3 times). Back in 2011 my high school did Funny Thing Happened on the Way To the Forum! A few other musicals that should have been on the list are Hello Dolly, Nice Work If You Can Get It, La Cage Aux Folles, Sister Act, Aladdin and Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Got to be in a high school production of "Guys and Dolls". I played Nicely and loved it. My dad will never forget me singing "You're Rocking the Boat".
I was about to riot if The Producers wasn't #1. The pigeon Heiling Hitler is the part that always gets me. This show is an absolute gem and is in my top 5 favourite musicals.
I saw Spamalot on Broadway 4-5 times. Funny all the way. First time I saw it I just missed a couple of the original performers. Saw Gentleman’s Guide..., too. I was lucky to see the original cast of Book Of Morman....OMG laughed all the way through. Amazing. Saw 25th Annual Putnam..., Avenue Q, Something Rotten, and, the original cast in The Producers. Hubby and I love Broadway musicals and try to see at least one a year.
10: Monty Pythons Spamalot 9: Guys and Dolls 8: The Drowsy Chaperone 7: A Gentleman's Guide To Love and Murder 6: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee 5: Avenue Q 4: Something Rotten! 3: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum 2: The Book Of Mormon 1: The Producers
Whenever I see a musical comedy, I always see them sacrificing one aspect for the other, with the same applying to comedy songs in general (at least from what I’ve seen.) I just wanna hear a song that I could jam too while also laughing my but off, like that one song from that waitress musical that goes “I love you means your never ever gettin’ rid of me!” That one was a riot and a bopper 👍 Edit: Also most of them can be pretty crude, which is not my thing
Avenue Q and BOM are the two most freaking funny musicals I’ve ever heard, it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that they were written by the same people
I LOVE the Producers but Book of Mormon is #1 for sure! By FAR the funniest ever. The producers is the funniest musical! Whole theatre was laughing during whole time. I'm just sad the movie version didn't succeed even though it was really well made.
I got to perform in the orchestra pit for the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and had to turn away from the mic positioned at the flute section (me) just to laugh.
If you do a list of funniest operas, please include The Elixir of Love, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Pasquale, Falstaff, The Knight of the Silver Rose and of course The Barber of Seville!
Not to be that kind of person, but Little Shop of Horrors should've gotten higher than honorable mentions. I'm hard to make laugh sometimes but that one really does it for me.
I saw the book of Mormon and I clicked immediately

The Book Of Mormon has to be the funniest musical that I have ever seen!! Really enjoy your videos MsMojo!
Same! I was laughing so hard I cried my makeup off. Legit the best musical I've ever seen. Although Avenue Q is great as well. I need to see The Producers!
@@sassypants7536 - The Producers is fantastic, it's so witty and self-aware, vintage Mel Brooks!
Well what do you expect from a play by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who are the guys behind South Park...
You should do "Top 10 Weirdest Musicals"
JULIO-CESAR ESQUIVEL yesss
#1: The Spider-Man musical.
Honestly "The Great Comet of 1812" is the king of weird musicals in the best ways.
Pokémon Live
Sweeney Todd would be up there for that list
Into the Woods, particularly the original cast, was hysterical.
THANK YOU for putting Drowsy Chaperone on the list! It is CRIMINALLY underrated.
I 100% agree!!!! I saw it as a school play and one of my best friends was Aldolpho and he did an amazing job. Seeing it again wouldn’t be the same to me with a different cast
YES! The Drowsy Chaperone needs more recognition
I honestly hadn't heard of this one at all.
Skorpyz it’s not one that a lot of people have
i was in a production of drowsy this summer! i played adolfo:)
So extremely happy that Spelling Bee and Something Rotten is on this list!!!
You have to have a great sense of humor to appreciate shows like ‘Avenue Q’, ‘Book of Mormon’, ‘Spamalot’ & ‘The Producers’
I love Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon, mostly because their sense of humor is offensive yet smart, something that musicals seriously lack
I adore "Avenue Q" and "The Producers" is my all time fave musical.
Agreed, seen all of them and they're among my favourites; I'm always pleasantly surprised when I see an American show that has wit and charm to its humour, and whilst Trey Parker and Matt Stone can come across as brash at times, they are both intelligent guys and know how to appeal to a wider audience. Not to miss out, Gentleman's guide to lor and murder.
Kinda dark for the murder plots...
I love Avenue Q and Book of Mormon. I havent seen the other 2 yet. But I have a feeling ‘Spamalot’ is not my type of humor...
I know it's pretty new but I would've thought that Beetlejuice was at least an honorable mention!
the fact that there isn’t a single starkid musical is on here is just...incorrect
The whole reason I clicked on this vid
;-;
These are all shows that have been/are on broadway unlike starkid productions
The Duck is most displeased...
Finally a list that includes Drowsy Chaperone!!!! I have a special place in my heart for this one (and Guys and Dolls). You included both!!!! I literally screamed when Drowsy Chaperone came up
You've got to give some credit to the narrator and audience yellers in Rocky Horror Picture Show. They had me in stitches :D
My Favorite Comedy Musicals are "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "Singin' in the Rain", "Xanadu", "The Little Shop of Horrors" and "The Book of Mormon".
I think one of the most surprisingly funny shows is Into the Woods! It's use of humor and wit is brilliant!

@manuel orozco not a premier because my summer camp did the amateur world premiere this summer haa
My high school did The Drowsy Chaperone during my senior year.
Also, why not Singin' in the Rain? That one makes me laugh the most and it should've been #1.
Mine did it during my Junior year and the next we did Guys and Dolls, so that one also has a special place in my heart
Wonder why these musicals never made the list? :
.You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown
.Aladdin
.SpongeBob the Musical
.Beetlejuice
.Young Frankenstein
.Shrek the Musical
.Seussical the Musical
.Kinky Boots
Kinky boots yes!
Shrek is hilarious
What about into the woods? The recording with Bernadette peters is so funny.

I never outwardly laughed as much as I did when I saw Something Rotten! live
starbrite526 Ik I have NEVER laughed out loud at a musical, not even Book of Mormon until I saw Something Rotten 😂

Wow Sara rameriez was in spamalot msmojo u are awesome it’s her birthday today
I knew Book of Mormon, Avenue Q and the Producers would be on here, seen them all, love them all!
There are so many funny musicals. One of my favourites is Addams Family. Addams Family is easy to make funny, but the musical is still funny in its own right!
Shrek the Musical should have been mentioned.
My mom did the producers over the summer and I LOVED the show it was so funny
This is a pretty good list! I'm here to give Nunsense a shout-out as well.
"Nunsense" (and all of its sequels) are hilarious--but they've never played Broadway--only Off-Broadway.
Beetlejuice is also hilarious! I was laughing so hard 😂 great list
Avenue Q is my absolute favorite!!

I sing Dentist to my dentist at every appointment
Yay!! Something Rotten! is on the list!!
I was so very lucky to catch the last show of Spamalot in Vegas. I even got to meet Eric Idle!
Saw The Book of Mormon and had to click the video

Beetlejuice and The prom shouldve gotten an honorable mention
“Top 10 Funniest Musicals”. Also known as “The Nathan Lane List”
Got to be in a high school production of "Guys and Dolls". I played Nicely and loved it. My dad will never forget me singing "You're Rocking the Boat".
I was a crapshooter and had a blast
I was about to riot if The Producers wasn't #1. The pigeon Heiling Hitler is the part that always gets me. This show is an absolute gem and is in my top 5 favourite musicals.
No Rock of Ages? Me and my pal were absolutely killing ourselves laughing when watching that
Two from this past Broadway season are absolutely hilarious: The Prom and Tootsie. Tootsie should be in the top 5 funniest at least.
I saw Spamalot on Broadway 4-5 times. Funny all the way. First time I saw it I just missed a couple of the original performers. Saw Gentleman’s Guide..., too. I would have added “Evil Dead the musical” I crack up every time I listen 😂
Syd the kid!! !! I know right? I was thinking the same thing.
I have seen everyone of these musicals and for once I agree with your choices 100% ! Great job
I was wondering who could beat The Book of Mormon. And then saw the number 1 and totally agreed :)))
10: Monty Pythons Spamalot
9: Guys and Dolls
8: The Drowsy Chaperone
7: A Gentleman's Guide To Love and Murder
6: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
5: Avenue Q
4: Something Rotten!
3: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum
2: The Book Of Mormon
1: The Producers
Shrek should have been in the spot that Gentleman’s Guide is in.
Sutton is represented well though with Drowsy Chaperone.
Another great list Emily!

MsMojo: Number 1, The Producers
Me: CORRECT
Yess. A gentleman's guide to love and murder.
I saw Beetlejuice and it was absolutely hilarious. It should’ve at least been an Honorable Mention
you should’ve put sister act on here, the show is hands down so funny and one of the funniest i’ve seen
Hairspray should’ve been on this list!
It *is*
Another funny musical that should have been on the list was: I love you, you're perfect, now change. Such a great show
The Drowsy Chaperone is my absolute favorite musical ever!!!
there's something to be said about "Mama Mia" and "Rock Of Ages" I have seen both so many times.
I'd add anything from Starkid, and Beetlejuice, but I totally agree that The Producers is the clear number one
I LOVE the Producers but Book of Mormon is #1 for sure! By FAR the funniest ever. I LOVE musical theatre so I've been to my fair share and Book of Mormon is BY FAR the best time I've ever had at a show. Do a starkid list
All of these are great but I think Young Frankenstein is also hilarious!
Avenue Q and Book of Mormon are two of the most hailrous musicals ever. The only ones I have watched
I know it's not a musical but if any of the UK folk here have seen the play that goes wrong, i nearly peed myself
A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Murder sounds like a musical version of Alex Guinness - Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949).
I presented Little Shop at my school, I was Audrey II
How did you forget about dear Evan Hansen, I literally could not stop laughing the entire time
Got to see Spamalot, I laughed so hard I cried. LOL 🤣
The second Forum appeared, so did my Broadway geek, singing each and every song shown
Very very great fun list I like it a lot and a lot of fun too great job mis mojo one of my very favorite list ever
I've performed in 2 of these, and hope to perform in a few more!
The producers is the funniest musical!
Whole theatre was laughing during whole time.
I'm just sad the movie version didn't succeed even though it was really well made.
I love Avenue q so much. Flee out with the fam years ago just so we could see it in London.
I still wish that Mel Brooks would make "Springtime For Hitler" a real musical.
I listened to Book of Mormon a while back for the first time and laughed so hard!
Definitely second best under Avenue Q
I just saw The Drowsy Chaperone at a local production and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
i am so happy to see something rotten, my all time favorite musical, on this list!!!!!
We need deadpool: the musical
Omg I would see that!
oh no
Hugh Jackman would make an appearance, of course.
@@seamusburke3350 oh
I got to perform in the orchestra pit for the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and had to turn away from the mic positioned at the flute section (me) just to laugh.

Book of Mormon: who hath summoned me
Love that you mentioned Putnam County Spelling Bee
Beetlejuice is a good musical! CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG
I’m a little mad beetlejuice wasn’t mentioned
I'm glad The Producers was on top, but seriously? Only an honorable mention for Little Shop of Horrors?
You missed La Cage, How to Succeed in Business without really trying, and Scoundrels And Scalawags.
Book of Mormon is my fave!
Not to be that kind of person, but Little Shop of Horrors should've gotten higher than honorable mentions. I'm hard to make laugh sometimes but that one really does it for me.
Love the Thespian Swag tee!!
I know it's fairly new and idk if it was out but Everybody's Talking About Jamie is so funny! But the humour is very British centred
Hairspray should’ve been up there. When I saw it I was shocked at how funny it was
But what about company!??! I saw the new version on west end and it was the funniest show I’ve ever seen!
