Great tips. I really think it's an important tip to consider is ask clients their expectations on their event. What some of the things they would like their DJ to accomplish for the event.
Love your comment about placement of laser lights etc. Good Call. I have a cheap remote Technica mic and I am still experimenting with the Squelch to get it right. Scotty B
+Scott Beattie It is an ongoing effort go tweak that sound for perfection!! I did a small karaoke show in a weird room last night that took a ton of time to get the sound/microphones set up to my liking... -John
Rather than using tape, we use double sided velcro wrap/strips. You can reuse them hundreds of time & at the end of the night use them to wrap your cables. It keeps your wire bag neat & organized. Search "velcro roll" on Amazon & look for double sided. They come in long rolls & you can cut them to any length. For less than $10 you have a supply that will last years. We use different colors for different wires. Audio cables get black & dmx/lighting gets red. If you have leftovers, just wrap them around your tripod & they will be there when you need them. You will find a thousand uses for them once you start. If you want to go all out, there are heavy duty ones that work with big extension cords. In an emergency we used one to hold a microphone in a broken clip on a mic stand. Also used to mount a microphone receiver on a truss for better reception.
Things that suck.........someone from the bridal party bringing the wireless underneth the head table. I have a better chance of getting bit by a shark on land.......
