I've just got home from Fraser a few days ago and I loved it. With phone reception there is only Telstra. I have Dodo who use the Optus network and had none. I did get reception in Eurong but when I tried to make a call I got a message saying "Network not recognised". I did go to Ungowa one afternoon and get service there.
Very useful video for a lot of people planning to visit either island. I had been to Fraser but your recent videos have made me looking forward to visit Morton Island as well. Also, I appreciate how hard it is to speak to the camera from my experience of sending a one minute birthday wish to a friend. You just did nearly for half an hour, fantastic effort as long as you didn’t edit away hours of footage.
I just came back from Fraser Is. a week ago and it is truly a spectacular spot, I would love to get over there more often however it's a long drive from Nth QLD I might see if I can get back over there again next year.
Hi Tyler I was just about to buy a Rhino rack system for my Ranger ,then I watched John Cadogan he suggested your Video , so I have to thank you both , A suggestion to you seeing as you have already researched this problem is to contact your local member of Parliament and ask them to make legislation to force manufacturers to display their complete weight allowances for their Racks, as I would bloody bet they won’t do anything about it themselves, not when it means a loss of business I am subscribing too mate Anyhow cheers mate and thanks again
Oh man the pigs at Moreton! Back before camp setups were as advanced as they are now. We use to have a group of many families that would go each year. We never really seen much of the pigs but one year they were everywhere! Everyone was using those plastic kmart style boxes for food storage. We had pigs breaking into food boxes and busting open tinned food and anything in a packet! There was a camp site down from us that made a pig trap and caught a pig and the rangers had to come take it away. They have plenty of permanent pig traps on the island so they might have slowly wiped them out over the last 15-20 years or so
Brother, that was an exceptional episode. Been researching the lap my Misses and I will do, obviously the QLD Islands are on our list, but you really put it in the perfect context. I was already sold on Fraser but you convinced me that Morton is a must! Be saving this one. BTW this was your absolute best "vlog" episode, you were not droning on, was hanging on ever word. Well done Bro. ( sorrow for droning on!??)
Being a Brisbane lad spent a lot of time at Moreton but also Fraser. Fraser way better for fishing although if you're there at the right time Moreton can turn it on too. Mate hit a pig at night on the beach at Moreton once. Poor pig guts spilled and he was dead quick. There used to be brumbies and goats there also. The bunkers on eastern beach of Moreton definately an interesting tour and nice view from the top of one. They are quite extensive and you can easily miss a couple if you don't know where to look. There was a track that went from Tangalooma to the bunkers called Rous battery track. We drove from Tangalooma one time and took hours as it was overgrown only to find the Rangers had put a large concrete cone to stop traffic coming from Eastern beach direction. We spent another hour or two moving wood and sand to build the ground up around it to drive over it. We noticed soon after they blocked the entrance from Tangalooma end. 😂
thank you for this video. it has helped alot.. going back to Fraser for the first time in over 15 years and was debating going to Moretonas well but wont be now.
Been to fraiser 3 times and moreton 2 times, Like u said if you could only do 1 I would go to fraiser. But now ive done both, I prefer moreton island because its more relaxing and easy to get around .In saying that what i usally do is do both islands in 1 holiday trip. If your new to 4wdriving on sand I would do moreton island first then do fraiser after because its harder and need more skills to drive on fraiser
Great job on explaining the pro's and con's of Fraser and Morton Islands. I have to agree on everything you have said... I have been to Fraser 7 times and Morton 4, We love them both
Thanks Tyler. The information you've shared was really helpful. Now, I don't have to explain it myself to my cousin and just point him to this episode. He's never been to neither islands and he's planning a trip for the beginning of December, but he couldn't decide which one to go to first. Hopefully this will help him decide for himself. Cheers mate.👍👌
Great video as usual Tyler. I'm hoping to get to both islands one day. Long way from Melbourne so I will probably have to do both while up there. I think that I told you this at the Melbourne 4x4 show, but you won't remember because that Saturday was crazy busy, I love the outtakes you do at the end of your videos. Let me know if you are ever interested in doing a tag along in the Victorian High Country sometime.
Great informative video! I went to Fraser Island many years ago and loved it! We went specifically for the Taylor fishing and I've never been fishing like it ever since! I'd love to get back up there one day but it is such a long way from the NSW Central Coast.
Great video. The Tangalooma resort bypass track on Moreton can be a challenge, especially if it is a busy time where vehicles come face to face. Deep, soft sand and it is a little hard to jump off the track in spots. So with inexperienced drivers, it can be a choke point.
great vid on both islanda , yes Fraser does get the tourist buses (some come across from inskip on the ferry) but Moreton also get Carnival Splender cruisers from Sydney so an extra few thousand tourists when she is anchored off the island
Fraser is my local so I have been going there for te last 30 years and I still haven’t seen all of it. Definitely worth spending some time just chilling around
Moreton was $500 return including 4wd permit with 4x passengers at Xmas. If towing a trailer it’s even more as it takes up an extra space on the ferry.
Well said mate. I think Morton for me. It's the crowds that get to me. I'm not sure about the bookings. It's free in NSW state forests. Do you know about QLD state forests?
Hey mate thanks heaps we are leaving Melbourne on the 2nd of August for Cape York and Tele track stopping over at Moreton and Fraser islands on the way for 3 days each unfortunately time dependent for the whole trip. I am taking my 22" Caravan all the way to Cairns and leaving it at a friends property for the rest of the trip to the top. Was considering taking the van over to Moreton but no intention to Fraser whats your opinion and can you recommend any descent camping spots that would fit the van and my sons family with 2 swags. Thanks.
@@tedjames2534 interesting, ya flog... Fraser Camping: $7 per night VAP: $55.90 Ferry: $130 return Moreton Camping: $7 per night VAP: $55.90 Ferry: approx $100 each way Straddie Camping: $18 per night VAP: $55.9 Ferry: approx $100 each way Looks like straddie is the more expensive option, so your point is invalid... What's it got to do with how much it costs anyway 🤣 I've also done Moreton and Fraser countless times plus toured around the country, moneys not an issue. I simply asked for his thoughts on straddie because it's dog friendly. Sorry that I like to take my dog camping offends you 🖕
Moreton Island actually only permits fires in existing fireplaced and fire pits. You cannot use your own BYO fireplace/pit as you have advised and shown in your footage.
Fraser has changed since I was last there. Back then you'd drive up the beach until you saw a nice place to camp. No booking, no fees. I guess as the world gets more crowded you have to have more regulation and charges for everything.
Fraser is too busy and no fires means i have no desire to camp there. However i go to Cape Flattery before either, less people, no permits and whiter sand!
Hi Tyler. I have done Fraser Island a handful of times, I’ve towed our caravan over to Fraser Island already. I have not done Moreton island yet and it is on the list however do you recommend taking a caravan over? Are the campsites on the western side of the island caravan friendly? Our caravan is 17.5 ft and has off-road independent suspension
Yes they do. Fraser has quite a few areas that are fenced to keep dingoes out. the east side ones are always full of Adventure Kings gazebos. Moreton has some industrial bins near the Tangalooma wrecks. if you are talking about waste dump points there is quite a few on Fraser and one at Bulwer on Moreton.
"Western" sunset? 🤔❓ Is there any other on planet Earth? 😁 Great insights on both islands. Very informative and a great help. This will help a great deal when planning my trip. Thanks. 👍👍
I’ve been to Fraser 3 times - absolutely love it. We did mainly beach beach camping outside of the dingo fences, which is great because you can enjoy the scenery and have a bit more privacy. Just have to be a bit mindful of the dingos if you have smaller children. It can be a bit stressful making sure the kids don’t wander off. My next family trip will be to Moreton because of this, (and we haven’t been to Moreton yet) Great vid on a Sunday morning as usual! Cheers
Hah Tyler, I've put my opinion in a comment on your recent trip to Moreton. We've done both, K'gari is an annual occurrence, hence there lies my preference, K'gari anytime over Moreton. I'm so impressed you recommended K'gari over Moreton for anyone only able to do 1 over the other. Moreton worthy of a visit but not in preference to K'gari. K'gari definitely for Fauna & Flora. There is just so much more to see do on K'gari, I'm always learning of new things to do, for instance on our trip this year accommodating to younger attendees with us, we discovered cocktails are available at Happy Valley. Discovered that is a definite way to run up the credit card balance. Diesel far more viable purchase in my opinion but young ones will be young ones. Keep the good entertaining informative material coming as I'm truly enjoying your content. Close by being a tad controversial, dogs have no place/reason to accompany anyone into a N/P. Leave the mut at home or board it.

Good stuff, watched an interview with "Cowboy Tuned" and he said you were his few favorite follows. Figured i give it a try and I am not disapointed.
Been to both. Loved lake Mckensy and Eli Creek in Fraser, but Moreton is much better for swimming at the beach !!!
Moreton for the win. Went to Fraser in the 80,s, early 90’s and there is just a scary amount of people there now..
Great job on explaining the pro's and con's of Fraser and Morton Islands. I have to agree on everything you have said... I have been to Fraser 7 times and Morton 4, We love them both
The WW2 battery ruins on Moreton are interesting. Moreton was a strategic point of defence.

Great content Tyler.
Very informative and has inspired us to take a visit to Morton Island.
Thanks Bro
That’s great information for new people. Cheers

Watching from Fraser Island.
Excellent detail, really handy.
Morton has it and I’m with Telstra 🤣🤣 loves the outtakes. Good stuff mate 👌🏻
Been looking for a guide like this. Awesome
Awesome video Tyler, I have never been to either Island, very informative on what to expect 👍

What’s the tides like on Frasier and Morton island in relation to being held up or and gaining access to the sights?
Hey mate. Quick question,
Any curfews on either island? Any certain times your not aloud to drive around etc
