The oil serves a second purpose. It allows you to check or adjust the sealing of the faceshield against the gasket seal. When adjusting the base plates for the visor, silicon oil is smeared thinly around the gasket. Install the faceshield. Lightly close the shield fully. The oil should come in contact evenly with the shield all the way around the gasket. If it does not, then you adjust the base plates until you achieve an even contact of the oil between the seal and shield. Clean off the oil and retry and adjust again, if needed, to get even pressure around the edge. You will turn the adjusters until smear is even around visor edge. This gives you a perfect seal and stops any whistling.
You must have a very different guide than mine. The manual that came with my helmet says to lubricate the moving mechanical parts of the helmet, not the gasket.
It's pure silicone oil? What does it's label read I'm asking because I'm considering buying silicone oil for my vehicle maintenance. Just to protect rubber and plastic Let me know
My visor gasket ripped next to where there is a small tab to open the viser, is there any way to replace it? Hurts to throw away my x-twelve because of a ripped gasket, a lot of air is coming through that opening and its really annoying. :(
Loved filming this, shame I sold the R6

But shouldn’t that be done at the factory?
@@jamesmccracken4763Great question.
Is that something that can be done at anytime?
It doesn't have to be when the helmet is brand new. Thank you.
Thanks for making this video. Helped me out! Ride safely!

Mike Q if you pause at 00:11 the guide shows an image and explains the procedure

Christopher Nolan
yh we had to pay him £20000 for his creative insight :-p
Damn, did he give you a discount?!
It was actually filmed and directed by me excellent comparison though.
My GT Air 2 visor is absolute murder to remove. Thanks for the tutorial.
This rubber gasket has a crack on my helmet, water goes trough sometimes... It's glued ut I wonder if I can replace the seal
Why on the Shoei Glamster does it say to only put the oil around top and sides but not the bottom??
I have a GT Air and getting the visor back on is a pain in the ass. Lol!
Alexis Robles yea im better at it now there ia a technique to it apparently
Alexis Robles lol? My gf had one and i always done it first try. Its relatively easy actually i think
Is it necessary to reapply the silicone oils after a while? Say once per 3-6 months?
stanislausxx its what they recommend but no i haven't

Just to protect rubber and plastic
Let me know
On the label in the video it reads silicon oil. Doesn't give more information then that

From what I hear they don't sell the visor gasket separately. Try a local parts dealer and see if there is a way to ask shoei direct?
So in other words doing this will prevent wind noise? And I correct?
It's more to stop the seal cracking. That's what the guide says anyway
MiBandit does it prevent cracking on the black pastics as well?
Brilliant tutorial......thank you for sharing 👍
Ok so where do I buy this oil
Ebay silicon oil. Its used to lube stuff
Do you really have to paint it on like that?
Robert Hanna you could use ur finger tip or a tissue?
Great video! Thanks!
Very helpful thanks
Nice work
Awesome, I used my finger o_0
Half way round until, OMG i have a finger
Nothing beats a bit of good old-fashioned fingering
Thumbs up!

I think you need to practice adjusting, removing and fitting a visor before you worry about silicone
