Certain people talk about summons as if it was a game genie hack. FromSoft put the summon in there for a reason, and with so many different summons they clearly think it's an important tool for the player to have. The elitism and utter snobbery around not using summons blows my mind. There are people who don't want to spend 100s of hours in the game, or learn every boss fight. I could argue these ultra builds are just as cheesey. Some people dont want to craft these meta builds and just want to play through the story using the gear they find rather than following a step by step walkthrough video. For those people it's perfect. Not everyone who plays souls games, have the hard core souls mentality or find any replay value in the game. Great job on the video, glad someone who clearly knows the game actually said the summons is okay.
Agreed! It’s totally dependent on play style. For many, esp those who just play it once it deff helps to use what they give you for sure 👍 and thanks! 🙏
People really sleep on the anvil hammer, if you have enough levels to max out the AR its one of the best charged R2's in the game on a weapon that you can't infuse - go equip it with two-handed sword talisman, axe talisman and charged attack tear in wonderous physick plus golden vow - your charged heavy blasts off into orbit, not to mention the ash is good for clearing regular enemies or pre-loading damage on an enemy about to charge you
Backhand blades are amazing !! I only have one issue with them and that's the camera. Attacks kinda put you in a state where you have to extra adjust cam movement. Can get messy when you're high somewhere and there's risk of falling to your death. Great video mate thank you

I liked this recap' even more than many of your videos, thanks! I just get definitely rid, after 2 years, of my beloved greatsword/giant crusher. I found the fire knight's greatsword so much better for its incredible moveset in ALL possibilities, R1, R2, roll/crouch R1/R2, running R2, charged, etc. (sorry, Guts...). I'm terrified by the DLC as I'm trying to solo it without scadutree fragments, lvl 150, NG+. Reached Messmer and killed every boss/mid-boss I found through exploration and I took my time. Just switched from my Giant crusher to the FKGS. Still terrified.
Im glad I havent tried any of these yet, so I dont feel the loss. Ive been rocking fingerprint shield and mohgs spear or double curved swords and theyre still peetty gnarly.
I think Arc builds, especially Faith/Arc and Str/Arc are the strongest. Faith/Arc gives you access to dragon communion, which is one of the best spell families imo due to the amount of damage options, and str/arc is just the best bleed build ( Bleed Beastman's curved sword > Occult Scavenger's in terms of AR) and lets you take advantage of the occult giant crusher, which has the highest AR in the game. And the dlc only helps make faith/arc and str/arc better with the new stuff like bloodfiend's arm and the new thorn sorcery. In terms of ease of use though BB is still the best.
@@reggy7706 depends on your level. RL 125-150 the scavs will net you more DPS on occult with 50-60 vigor (50 at 125, 60 at 150) & 25-30 endurance. 160-200 Beastmen/gargoyles. Loved the video 👍 I love playing Strength/Faith builds in the Dark Souls trilogy, and Elden Ring, because of the versatility, and it gives you that paladin feel. I refuse to use the Blasphemous Blade in Elden Ring due to how easy it makes things. And it is kind of ugly in my opinion. Tend to use the Claymore instead, or the plain ol' Longsword. Pulling the Blasphemous blade out to beat a boss, feels like turning the difficulty down to easy. 😂 EDIT: As for using summons. I say go for it. If you do need help, that's what they are there for. Same as respecing builds for individual bosses. It is okay to make things 'easier' in your single player experience if you need to.
I had no trouble running the Faith Strenth Build running Blas Blade, Brick Hammer Prayerful Strike and Iron Greatsword Sacred Strike Set Ups when needed.
With the Taker’s Flame knockdown reduction I think there’s a good argument that the Ruins Greatsword is one of the best weapons in the game now. Its ash is so similar and it still has all the knockdown capability (or knock “up” really, which rules 😂). Granted it is more stat heavy and doesn’t heal, but with Taker’s Cameo equipped it’s my new easy mode. Plus personally I just find str/int more fun than str/faith. But that’s totally subjective.
It doesn’t heal you though lol that’s the big part. You hit at the same time you get hit with the BB and you’ve basically tanked the hit with the heal. Also Ruins’ Greatsword is bad on NG+ and beyond, with poor scaling on the ash.
@@AverageGamerMatt A difference there might be based on playstyle - for me I use ashes more sparingly (don’t really like trading damage) and mostly use R1s and charged R2s. Ruins Greatsword has a much better charged R2 with the gravity follow-up second hit and I’m pretty sure it does more poise damage on those non-ash attacks. So it works better for me
But I totally take your point that with BB trading damage doesn’t even matter and you can just spam the ash and be fine 😂 I guess I agree that I’m wrong here lol

@TheKingofRedLightning Your right👌 it does balance it out. (I just liked being overpowered destroying everything in my path😅😈. Felt good after getting wrecked by them at the start lmao)
Looks like you had poor timing with the patch coming today lol, thorns has to be far and away the best build in the game now I'm really surprised it didn't get nerfed and the turkey leg still shreds.
They nerfed everything you said except the thorns, and honestly I dont think the thorns will be nerfed, you have to take into account you need to be up close to hit all 3 thorns which leaves you super vulnerable to attacks. Also the thorns spell causes bleed which gets that big dmg, I think the only thing they’ll nerf on it is probably the bleed proc and how quick it can get it, but then again as I said, you need to hit all 3 thorns and be up close for all that dmg, the dmg from mid-far range especially against a target that moves a lot isnt all that good, so in consensus, I believe the thorns spell is perfectly balanced cause if you wanna get that big dmg, you need to risk taking hits which as we know, most people running sorcery builds dont got the armor or hp to tank a lot of hits
Agreed! It does have to land everything. But we’ll see. Today’s patch was basically a hot fix. They do long nerfs/buffs sometimes like a month later. I’ll be covering thorns soon though. 🤘

Blasphemous blade lol can’t recommend better. Early on though Bloodhounds fang. Check out early game guides on my channel. 🤘
@@AverageGamerMatt curiosity what would that be faith 2 hand build ?
@@AverageGamerMatt what weapon should I be " Training " before I manage the Blasphemous Blade
@@kree197238 early on you can grab GUTS Greatsword then lean strength/faith. I have an early game guide on my channel for it. It’s under “early game guides”.
Think the nerfs that bad now over with Flame Knights Greatsword idk the whole poise thing kinda making it boring now with just poising through everything instead of doing anything fun like with some weapons in the dlc?
A lot of the new weapons are fun, but many need buffs. I expect to see more balancing soon hopefully. 🤞
black knife tiche really evens that playing field i think.
Very good glass cannon lol
flame spear seems stronger than flame skewer tbh. Skewer's follow up feels useless af and flame spear's buff lasts quite a bit a longer. Plus the initial hit does more stagger, I think
They’re both good for it. It excels in flame art. 🤘
love the vids
Thank you! 🙏 🤘
Why use Winged Sword Insignia over rotten one in some builds?
I was on NG for some of these. You can only get 1. Rotten winged is better than winged if you have it.
So armor doesn't really matter much as long as you get to at least 51 poise?
Basically yes lol just hit 51 so light attacks don’t knock you down as much.
Why not build the Milady just lightning in general?
Versatility of a faith build. A lot you can add to it even at 150.
Heyy what’s the starting class you recommend if I want to respec to try out most weapons in this video. ?
Samurai & some were Hero.
Is that still the case for the other video u did for 15 Overpowered builds ranked video?
@@saisampathpotu2578 other video was all samurai. 🤘
Thanks for the help. Samurai it is then.
Construtive criticism here. Love ur way to play the game and build strategys. Try to speak a bit slower though
Thank you, appreciate the feedback! 🙏
Nice video.
Still don't get why people are so anti-summon. If they weren't meant to be used, wouldn't be an entire material and upgrade system dedicated to them, including in the DLC.
@@silverwolf2761 thanks! Yeah I don’t get it. Whatever is fun is best imo.
@@AverageGamerMatt Really like the end secion of the video and the milady build you've actually made here. Think I could work in a shield? I am a high level so stat split not an issue
Did the thorns get nerfed in today’s patch?
Nah. It still may be balanced though. I’ll be doing a build for it soon. 🤘
Milady w Wing Stance is my favourite weapon in the game! Absolutely SHREDS!
Is a build with BHF not a top 3 build in the game anymore?
It’s great but for me not really. TOP 5 probably.
Okay thanks for responding
Why the milicents prosthesis on the fire knights greatsword build?
Lol nvm I paused the video .2 seconds early.
It was just to hit the dexterity requirements. I didn’t want to respec from another faith build for like the 4 points I needed.
get any weapon what you like upgrade it to max get good stats most important thing you have to do find a open window in enemy'd attack pattern (git gud) thats all
Ehh that’s not true. Some weapons are downright bad lol varres bouquet for example. But yes patience is key.
@@AverageGamerMatt i remember my first elden ring walkthrough when i was trying to kill varres and he got my hours before entering in actual game lol
Aren’t the Godskin peelers better than scavenger
@@Nik-fn2yl nah not for DPS at RL 125-150. More bleed, but bleed resistances go up with each proc. Scavs have amazing pure physical damage on occult in between procs.
Wish you would have made this after the nerfs to the bloodfiend and perfume
@@nataslette5006 Bloodfiend’s is still great. Perfumes I ignored cause it was obv broke lol thorns I’ll be doing a build for but BB is always the easiest & simplest for me.
Bro how do i replay bosses in elden without starting a new game?I wanna fight the endgame bosses again with the new weapons i got
You can’t that I know of lol
Best game ever
Hell yeah it is! 🤘
How can I send you my build. I was able to get through the dlc at 150
I do build requests through Discord (there’s a tab for it there) but tbh I get a lot of them/and have a decent amount planned. I also got through twice at 150. It was tough but not too bad lol
@@AverageGamerMatt good to know sir I definitely like your content
Hey can I get some help please I have some lord runes and I don’t know how to use them all at once the game does not give me the option to do 99 runes at a time pls help it would be much appreciated
Just sell them at round table.
elden ring devs *gets rid of blasphemous blade knockback*
Also elden ring devs *introduces new weapon arts with the SAME knockback effect*
While that can be true, they don’t also heal you for a ton lol
@TheKingofRedLightning Your right👌 it does balance it out. (I just liked being overpowered destroying everything in my path😅😈. Felt good after getting wrecked by them at the start lmao)
Make a Falx build 🙏 🙏 🙏
I am soon! 🤘
Looks like you had poor timing with the patch coming today lol, thorns has to be far and away the best build in the game now I'm really surprised it didn't get nerfed and the turkey leg still shreds.
Ehh not really. BB is still by far easiest to use imo. Thorns I’ll cover but they could still be hit. The bonk stick I included.
Yuup backhand blades sre.my favorite and pur frost on them.unstopable.arcane build period
Nice! Yeah they’re insanely good. 🤘
Did they nerf impenetrable thorns?
nope i dont think so
Not yet! So I’ll be doing a build for those soon it looks like.
Greatsword
Always a good choice. 🤘
They didn’t touch the backhand blades
@@setwhen2 yeah that true, they only nerfed swift slash for pvp so nothing too bad there
I feel like people are sleeping on Fire Knight Greatsword with sacred and savage lions claw. Insane damage.
Yep! It’s amazing in sacred & flame art. Savage lions claw is fun too.
where can you get the sword
@@gezimnexhipi4905 shadow keep. The fire knights that wield it.
Na it’s trash towards end game even with ashes of wars it’s dookie
Sacred was a bug, they nerfed it heavy
Where is the moonlight greatsword?
Number 4 for me, honorable mention. It lost its poise damage, so I dropped it from my top 3.
Please help me with final boss😢😢
I’m struggling with this 🙏🙏🙏
I want a build to humialiate Messmer and the Final boss, I want to not even let them move. Any sugestions?
ADLS or maybe the thorns.
How to kill radahan I am struggling 🥲😭
Prob BB & mimic. Just don’t summon at the door lol
I've seen shield poking build work consistently
Finger Print Shield with the Scholars Shield buff alongside a bleed infused Lance takes down the final boss with ease.
I heard you laugh at your own joke about the greatsword. Lol. Also blasphomous blade and midos blade has carried me through most of the dlc at ng+7
Haha yeah & that’s a great combo! BB is so easy still lol
Greatshields are the true easy mode.
They trivialize SO many enemies.
True I’m trying to get into shield builds soon lol haven’t liked them that much so I’ve been trying them more lately.
@@AverageGamerMatt A few months ago I did my first greatshield build, combined with the Pike. It was a lot of fun, as long as you don't solely use shield pokes. I focused on impaling thrust and guard counters.
I've been trying it With bale and the final boss , It's not helping
@skillywilly187 Pest Thread Spears work a treat against Bayle, just stay under him and spam. As for the final boss, buffing with Scholars Shield makes it a hell of a lot easier.
@@AverageGamerMatt pair shields with weapons that have natural poke synergy.
Spears/great spears/thrusting swords/heavy thrusting swords.
Don't just spam shield poke. Use it as a tool when the enemy is hyper aggressive.
My favorite standouts are Bolt of Gransax, Antspur Rapier, and Dragonkings Cragblade.
Dancer swords are stronger IMO
They’re good, but no bleed & pure physical damage. I like them though they’d prob make my top 5. 🤘
RIP perfume builds :(
It was never intended to do that much damage..lol
The only file i can access the DLC off rip on was my naked club only run, so this video is useless😢
i could care less if people tell me to use a summons or not
While that’s true, the community can be tough sometimes (from feedback I’ve heard myself too). I say play whatever way is most fun. 🤘
Ez the best build is the one I'm using lmao
These builds kinda rip the fun from the game tho, everything is so easily handled that self efficacy isn't able to build for the player.
Everyone has fun in their own way though.
I strongly disagree. Ive been playing ng +7 over and over. I like challenging and easy builds equally. Especially since a quick run through of the game only takes about 3 hours and then i try something else. People enjoy different difficulties and some people also enjoy coming up with efficient builds or discovering exploits/cheese. There are so many different ways to play this game
Why ai voice
It’s my own voice & my own script for all my videos. Recorded with a condenser mic. 🤘
"Base game weapons are better than DLC weapons"......i......i just.......what?
They are. Aside from the thorns & Bloodfiend’s arm (the latter got a slight nerf), they do more damage as a whole. Perfumes are now gone. They’re cooler looking, but take any of the DLC weapons (esp somber ones) on NG+ and beyond. They just can’t keep up.
Anything mage related is not good at all so idk why it’s on the list 😂
Mages are typically easy mode in souls games. Still are lol
