Military service can go from 18 months to 2 years, it's not exactly a short time... We don't really like to talk about it too much cause there is a lot of controversy and debate about idols being exempted or not, especially regarding BTS. Some athletes, musicians and dancers can be granted exemptions, but it doesn't apply to kpop idols as of now. Actually, some entertainment companies petitionned the government for a reform to permit exemptions for idols (Big Hit actually did not participate). Following this, a new law was put in place last year to allow the age of enlistment to go from 28 to 30 yo (int.age), provided the idols have received recommendations for cultural merit. As of now, those requirements only apply to BTS
If they all go do their military service at the same time, army will most likely stream their albums so much that they'll bring older ones on the chart again. It happened before :D Also, going together would be more consistent with their philosophy on things but I guess we'll wait and see.

It's NOT for just 1 year. Full military service for an average person/non celebrity is between 21-36 months, depending on the unit you are assigned to/attached to, as well as, if you are active/non active service. Eg: my cousin who is attached to the navy has had to serve for 24 months (+ 1 month bmt-basic military training). However, there's a lot of controversies surrounding celebrity going into service due to the fact that there were known cases of celebrities trying to wriggle their way out of the service as well as how some were given less-strenuous services or extra leave days simply because they were celebrities. That's the reason why the topic is always sensitive regarding celebrities going into military service. That said, there seems to be a rise in the opinions from the general public that supports BTS's partial exemption from the service (eg: some have suggested for them to simply complete their bmt and be let go) because of their enormous contribution towards the country's economic and cultural front. Still, it is a sensitive topic and in all honestly, also a very political one. Most armys avoid talking about this because it is simply not our place to do so. We will just continue to support them. Like another army has pointed out, just because BTS is going into the military doesn't mean army is. We can still stream and chart regardless. I just wanted to clear some facts about the ms in SK.
True. Quite funny those people want them to go because they really thought when BTS enlist another group will replace BTS in the game, when in fact BTS is the game changer both kpop industry and western industry. W/c odd bec as RM said, BTS success is 50% from army, 35% from them (5% each members and 15% from BH/Hybe. It's them who will enlist not the whole fandom. Their support and impact will continue as long as BTS continue to be in the group and we will comeback from military as a group. Whatever they choose, we as their fans will continue to support them.

Sometimes I worry that they haven't quite grasped that they have broken out of the kpop mold which creates groups with an expiration date and low chance of comeback after military. I'm not questioning their intelligence, but they've been brought up in this culture and have become something else entirely. When they celebrated their 7th and 8th years because of the significance of making it that long, I thought to myself - Dudes, you will be playing to packed venues as long as there are ARMYs - which will be forever - and as long as you want to. They will change and grow and so will we, and new, loyal ARMY will find them all the time because their music and philosophy appeals to all ages, and they are truly wonderful humans.
Here's info that some still aren't aware of: ❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!! So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! This one is a concert staple!! When they perform this LIVE??? When J-HOPE performs this live??? Nahhh it’s lethal. This that one song they’ve never taken out of their set since it dropped bc when they perform it, it’s no holds barred. This is also co-choreographed by J-hope so him going off makes sense.
They have in-house choreographers, and sometimes hire other choreographers for certain songs. Actually on this one, i believe j-hope contibuted to the choreo!

What a nice reaction! It's perfectly fine to question whatever you want, as long as there's respectful attitude. Personally, I don't think that they are going to disband ever because they WANT to be a team. As long as nothing big happens, I don't see it coming. About the dance... Personally, I am always a little taken aback when people critic, for example, Jin's dance skills. He might not be the best dancer in BTS, but I challenge everybody who complain about his performance to do better than him, to came from a complete lack of dancing background and to become so good to the point of being able to keep up with J-Hope or Jimin. But the way, if you'll ever watch the PTD concert clips you will see how actually far Jin and RM come with their dancing abilities.. I am so proud of them. Korean men must go to the military by the age of 28, but the BTS law postponed BTS' enlistment at 30 (but it's valid for every Korean men with outstanding merits). Nobody knows what's going to happen, really 😅
What’s funny is that the dance is meant to be playful and sarcastic because the meaning of the song itself is a political statement and criticism for basically the “boomers” and the newer generations (millennial and genz) having to put up with their BS just like in the US. Basically they are making fun of the “seriousness” of older generations and how they have made the economic situation very difficult for newer generations to get ahead because they think just getting a job is enough to live a full life but they screwed the economy with their greed and corruption that they blocked new generations from getting ahead in life.
No matter what happens as far as military goes, whether they go all at once or a few at a time, Bangtan will have Army's support 100%, we'll probably go overboard tbh lol, to show them they have nothing to worry about, we'll be charting every album till they come back.
JIMIN is King of Kpop (for 3 years now). He has a background in Hip Hop AND Contemporary dancing. He's easily the most complete dancer in the group and excels at any style so you can see why a lot of people prefer Jimin's style of dancing. J-Hope is also a great dancer. Jungkook too. The 3J unit are the most experienced and skilled dancers in BTS. Jimin and J-Hope are the main dancers of BTS for a reason!
I'm pretty sure they can't pre-record before enlisting because they can't make extra income while serving. I really hope the enlist together for a few reasons. Because if they serve separately we might not get BTS as 7 for up to 7 years because of Jin's and Jungkook's age difference. BTS has always emphasized since the beginning and even at their most recent concerts BTS is 7. Suga even said that's why they didn't do solo songs at their concerts in LA because they wanted the focus to be on all 7 members. And what that guy said about some of the members moving up the ranks, there is no member in BTS that couldn't have a successful solo career if they wanted to whether singing, acting, etc.. It's 18 months minimum and 21 months if you are a public service officer. Like Baekhyun of EXO is a public service worker because he has hypothyroidism. To put into perspective BTS success BTS has sold 32 million albums in South Korea and the 2nd most selling male group is EXO with 13 million. NCT with all of its subunits sales added together is around 15 million albums but I think all the subunits sales are counted separately for actual charts. And keep in mind BTS didn't even have a full album release in 2021 and were still the 3rd most streamed artist in the world on Spotify. So it won't shock me if they surpass 40 million next year. BTS also have 12 music video over 500 million views on youtube and 6 music videos with over 1 billion views. The most viewed video by any kpop male group besides BTS is BigBang's BANG BANG BANG which has 566 million views. I really think exemption could be on the horizon. If gold medalists and classical musicians can get exemptions so should BTS. And everyone should also keep in mind BTS has never asked for special treatment or an exemption. They've all said they consider is a duty to serve their country and will serve when called.
At the end of BTS' 2nd day concert in LA, Suga spoke about why there were no solo performances from them in their in-person concert, that all their cue guides, choreography, props etc. were all about the 7 of them together & purposely so that Army can focus on all 7 of them. It is consistent with their philosopy to stand by on all 7 of them. That was reassuring 😊
I don't know how much you knew about Baepsae before going into this reaction but it is one of their more serious songs, it's a commentary on the high expections of their generation even though they were not afforded the same opportunities. It's a topic that can translate globally. The choreography, all the crotch grabs, hip thrusts and leg extentions, though they look goofy, are an interpretation of the lyrics.
Nice reaction. I just wanted to add something about the dance itself as an interpretation of the song. Baepsae translates as a crowtit ie.small bird ( shorter legs ) and it is compared to the longer legged Stork in the saying, ' a crowtit cannot catch up to a stork'. This is because the playing field and conditions are not even or fair to start with. The song addresses this with respect to sociopolitical climate. In the dance you can see when BTS stretch out one leg and swerve to imitate the movement of the stork. The flapping of hands and lower squat steps reflect the crowtit ( the smallerbird). And the hip thrust, in my opinion, is an F*** you to the system. Very fun dance and choreo 😍

Once again, this dude in the red hat knows nothing about these members individually; he needs to get familiar with each of their talents! You cannot compare Hobi with Jimin - one is an expert street dancer and the other trained in virtually every dance genre. We love them as dancers equally. And Jimin is ridiculously athletic (as we all know) and has martial arts expertise. It really annoys me when people make statements as facts when they know nothing!

Soccer players ( which the gov’t amended the law to include them), those who win a medal in the Olympics, those who win gold medals in the Asian games, classical musicians. They make it seem impossible to exempt BTS but they just have a bias towards k~pop idols. They can actually credit BTS with Military service time, just doing what they normally do since they speak before the UN annually now, the AMA artist of the year award could count towards their time. SK didn’t receive BTS well in the beginning . They were still kids so of course they did not have control over their image or the music. Big Hit’s CEO and main producer writer PDogg controlled their image and sound. Remember, RM was 15/16 when he signed. Jk was 14 when he signed and 15 when he moved into the dorm. Keith is right. Everything was manufactured and the boys were not comfortable with their rap clothes /image. Jimin was made into a tough guy image. He only started showing his abs because they were told they needed that pop. The guys decided it should be Jimin. He went through hell emotionally first as a trainee given less training than the six others. Then he was objectified when he had to start lifting his shirt. He struggled with toxic masculinity. Insecurity. Anxiety. Depression. He worked out the way JK does now. He needed to maintain the abs. His Ji~booty was and still is legendary. What freed them was the boss’ decision to do k~pop When they were interviewed, they were asked what their roles were in the group. Jimin really didn’t know. He would say, they say I am in charge of charm…then later the high note king. This is the 3J’s aka the dance line so that’s why no one else is included. V was added to dance line after Singularity. Military is 2 years .. bts deserves exemption . Athletes who won gold medals and classical musicians get exempted, does anyone know a gold medalist Korean athlete or a classical musician? Bts received the cultural award, it's the highest award received from the Korean govt , for promoting Korea's culture and generating the positive impact like financial impact on the Korean economy , same level as Samsung and Hyundai. Bts won billboard, MTV UK MTV USA, American music awards, British music awards since 2017 . They won global artist of the Year , they outsold every artist globally 2020 . First time that a kpop group top the list . They were nominated for a Grammy , it's not easy to be nominated for a Grammy if u are not North American or white . They won artist of the Year at the freaking American music awards . They are Asian and not Asian American but Asian from Korea and they broke into the USA and UK music market . Do u know how many Americans have not managed to get recognition in America? Here comes a Korean boy band , barely English speaking and somehow built a fan base in the USA that forced the mainstream media to pay attention , they tried to ignore bts for years , thought of them as just some group that will quickly lose it's popularity . Very few western artists won awards at the Asian award shows whereas bts is winning awards at all the award shows , USA and UK. They deserve exemption . They won artist of the Year at the American music awards , grammys will do their best to block bts from winning Grammy but if they do win , even a small award , it's a big deal for the music industry worldwide . Bts story will always be in the music history books because they are the first Asian group for many things , they are the first group to have all kill win at the mnet Asian music awards , never happened before and bts did it twice . j-hope is probably the best dance freestyler you can find in kpop. Dancing is deep in his bones. It definitely is like second nature to him. There are a lot of compilations of his freestyle if you guys would like to react to it. As for his performance, being 'hoseoked' is a term armys came up with to describe someone being bias-wrecked by him at a concert because it happened so often. There is a general consensus that no one can leave a concert not mesmerised by his stage presence and charisma. Also Lowe (sorry if that's not how you spell your name), if you see this you gotta check out their Mic Drop SNL performance. j-hope goes OFF in that.

Military service can go from 18 months to 2 years, it's not exactly a short time...
We don't really like to talk about it too much cause there is a lot of controversy and debate about idols being exempted or not, especially regarding BTS. Some athletes, musicians and dancers can be granted exemptions, but it doesn't apply to kpop idols as of now.
Actually, some entertainment companies petitionned the government for a reform to permit exemptions for idols (Big Hit actually did not participate). Following this, a new law was put in place last year to allow the age of enlistment to go from 28 to 30 yo (int.age), provided the idols have received recommendations for cultural merit.
As of now, those requirements only apply to BTS
If they all go do their military service at the same time, army will most likely stream their albums so much that they'll bring older ones on the chart again. It happened before :D Also, going together would be more consistent with their philosophy on things but I guess we'll wait and see.

It's NOT for just 1 year. Full military service for an average person/non celebrity is between 21-36 months, depending on the unit you are assigned to/attached to, as well as, if you are active/non active service. Eg: my cousin who is attached to the navy has had to serve for 24 months (+ 1 month bmt-basic military training). However, there's a lot of controversies surrounding celebrity going into service due to the fact that there were known cases of celebrities trying to wriggle their way out of the service as well as how some were given less-strenuous services or extra leave days simply because they were celebrities. That's the reason why the topic is always sensitive regarding celebrities going into military service.
That said, there seems to be a rise in the opinions from the general public that supports BTS's partial exemption from the service (eg: some have suggested for them to simply complete their bmt and be let go) because of their enormous contribution towards the country's economic and cultural front. Still, it is a sensitive topic and in all honestly, also a very political one. Most armys avoid talking about this because it is simply not our place to do so. We will just continue to support them. Like another army has pointed out, just because BTS is going into the military doesn't mean army is. We can still stream and chart regardless.

True. Quite funny those people want them to go because they really thought when BTS enlist another group will replace BTS in the game, when in fact BTS is the game changer both kpop industry and western industry. W/c odd bec as RM said, BTS success is 50% from army, 35% from them (5% each members and 15% from BH/Hybe. It's them who will enlist not the whole fandom. Their support and impact will continue as long as BTS continue to be in the group and we will comeback from military as a group. Whatever they choose, we as their fans will continue to support them.

Sometimes I worry that they haven't quite grasped that they have broken out of the kpop mold which creates groups with an expiration date and low chance of comeback after military. I'm not questioning their intelligence, but they've been brought up in this culture and have become something else entirely. When they celebrated their 7th and 8th years because of the significance of making it that long, I thought to myself - Dudes, you will be playing to packed venues as long as there are ARMYs - which will be forever - and as long as you want to. They will change and grow and so will we, and new, loyal ARMY will find them all the time because their music and philosophy appeals to all ages, and they are truly wonderful humans.

❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey!
JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! What a nice reaction! It's perfectly fine to question whatever you want, as long as there's respectful attitude. Personally, I don't think that they are going to disband ever because they WANT to be a team. As long as nothing big happens, I don't see it coming. About the dance... Personally, I am always a little taken aback when people critic, for example, Jin's dance skills. He might not be the best dancer in BTS, but I challenge everybody who complain about his performance to do better than him, to came from a complete lack of dancing background and to become so good to the point of being able to keep up with J-Hope or Jimin. But the way, if you'll ever watch the PTD concert clips you will see how actually far Jin and RM come with their dancing abilities.. I am so proud of them. Korean men must go to the military by the age of 28, but the BTS law postponed BTS' enlistment at 30 (but it's valid for every Korean men with outstanding merits). Nobody knows what's going to happen, really 😅

What’s funny is that the dance is meant to be playful and sarcastic because the meaning of the song itself is a political statement and criticism for basically the “boomers” and the newer generations (millennial and genz) having to put up with their BS just like in the US. Basically they are making fun of the “seriousness” of older generations and how they have made the economic situation very difficult for newer generations to get ahead because they think just getting a job is enough to live a full life but they screwed the economy with their greed and corruption that they blocked new generations from getting ahead in life.

JIMIN is King of Kpop (for 3 years now). He has a background in Hip Hop AND Contemporary dancing. He's easily the most complete dancer in the group and excels at any style so you can see why a lot of people prefer Jimin's style of dancing. J-Hope is also a great dancer. Jungkook too. The 3J unit are the most experienced and skilled dancers in BTS. Jimin and J-Hope are the main dancers of BTS for a reason!
I'm pretty sure they can't pre-record before enlisting because they can't make extra income while serving. I really hope the enlist together for a few reasons. Because if they serve separately we might not get BTS as 7 for up to 7 years because of Jin's and Jungkook's age difference. BTS has always emphasized since the beginning and even at their most recent concerts BTS is 7. Suga even said that's why they didn't do solo songs at their concerts in LA because they wanted the focus to be on all 7 members. And what that guy said about some of the members moving up the ranks, there is no member in BTS that couldn't have a successful solo career if they wanted to whether singing, acting, etc.. It's 18 months minimum and 21 months if you are a public service officer. Like Baekhyun of EXO is a public service worker because he has hypothyroidism. To put into perspective BTS success BTS has sold 32 million albums in South Korea and the 2nd most selling male group is EXO with 13 million. NCT with all of its subunits sales added together is around 15 million albums but I think all the subunits sales are counted separately for actual charts. And keep in mind BTS didn't even have a full album release in 2021 and were still the 3rd most streamed artist in the world on Spotify. So it won't shock me if they surpass 40 million next year. BTS also have 12 music video over 500 million views on youtube and 6 music videos with over 1 billion views. The most viewed video by any kpop male group besides BTS is BigBang's BANG BANG BANG which has 566 million views. I really think exemption could be on the horizon. If gold medalists and classical musicians can get exemptions so should BTS. And everyone should also keep in mind BTS has never asked for special treatment or an exemption. They've all said they consider is a duty to serve their country and will serve when called.

At the end of BTS' 2nd day concert in LA, Suga spoke about why there were no solo performances from them in their in-person concert, that all their cue guides, choreography, props etc. were all about the 7 of them together & purposely so that Army can focus on all 7 of them. It is consistent with their philosopy to stand by on all 7 of them. That was reassuring 😊

The choreography, all the crotch grabs, hip thrusts and leg extentions, though they look goofy, are an interpretation of the lyrics.

Nice reaction. I just wanted to add something about the dance itself as an interpretation of the song. Baepsae translates as a crowtit ie.small bird ( shorter legs ) and it is compared to the longer legged Stork in the saying, ' a crowtit cannot catch up to a stork'. This is because the playing field and conditions are not even or fair to start with. The song addresses this with respect to sociopolitical climate. In the dance you can see when BTS stretch out one leg and swerve to imitate the movement of the stork. The flapping of hands and lower squat steps reflect the crowtit ( the smallerbird). And the hip thrust, in my opinion, is an F*** you to the system. Very fun dance and choreo 😍

Once again, this dude in the red hat knows nothing about these members individually; he needs to get familiar with each of their talents! You cannot compare Hobi with Jimin - one is an expert street dancer and the other trained in virtually every dance genre. We love them as dancers equally. And Jimin is ridiculously athletic (as we all know) and has martial arts expertise. It really annoys me when people make statements as facts when they know nothing!

Military service is 18 months. Those who are exempt. Soccer players ( which the gov’t amended the law to include them), those who win a medal in the Olympics, those who win gold medals in the Asian games, classical musicians. They make it seem impossible to exempt BTS but they just have a bias towards k~pop idols. They can actually credit BTS with Military service time, just doing what they normally do since they speak before the UN annually now, the AMA artist of the year award could count towards their time.
SK didn’t receive BTS well in the beginning . They were still kids so of course they did not have control over their image or the music. Big Hit’s CEO and main producer writer PDogg controlled their image and sound. Remember, RM was 15/16 when he signed. Jk was 14 when he signed and 15 when he moved into the dorm.
Keith is right. Everything was manufactured and the boys were not comfortable with their rap clothes /image. Jimin was made into a tough guy image. He only started showing his abs because they were told they needed that pop. The guys decided it should be Jimin. He went through hell emotionally first as a trainee given less training than the six others. Then he was objectified when he had to start lifting his shirt.
He struggled with toxic masculinity. Insecurity. Anxiety. Depression. He worked out the way JK does now. He needed to maintain the abs. His Ji~booty was and still is legendary. What freed them was the boss’ decision to do k~pop
When they were interviewed, they were asked what their roles were in the group. Jimin really didn’t know. He would say, they say I am in charge of charm…then later the high note king.
This is the 3J’s aka the dance line so that’s why no one else is included. V was added to dance line after Singularity. He also went through a lot as the secret member. #BTS #Redemption46

Bts received the cultural award, it's the highest award received from the Korean govt , for promoting Korea's culture and generating the positive impact like financial impact on the Korean economy , same level as Samsung and Hyundai. Bts won billboard, MTV UK MTV USA, American music awards, British music awards since 2017 . They won global artist of the Year , they outsold every artist globally 2020 . First time that a kpop group top the list . They were nominated for a Grammy , it's not easy to be nominated for a Grammy if u are not North American or white . They won artist of the Year at the freaking American music awards . They are Asian and not Asian American but Asian from Korea and they broke into the USA and UK music market . Do u know how many Americans have not managed to get recognition in America? Here comes a Korean boy band , barely English speaking and somehow built a fan base in the USA that forced the mainstream media to pay attention , they tried to ignore bts for years , thought of them as just some group that will quickly lose it's popularity . Very few western artists won awards at the Asian award shows whereas bts is winning awards at all the award shows , USA and UK. They deserve exemption . They won artist of the Year at the American music awards , grammys will do their best to block bts from winning Grammy but if they do win , even a small award , it's a big deal for the music industry worldwide . Bts story will always be in the music history books because they are the first Asian group for many things , they are the first group to have all kill win at the mnet Asian music awards , never happened before and bts did it twice . Won every daesang. So they deserve to be exempted

j-hope is probably the best dance freestyler you can find in kpop. Dancing is deep in his bones. It definitely is like second nature to him. There are a lot of compilations of his freestyle if you guys would like to react to it. As for his performance, being 'hoseoked' is a term armys came up with to describe someone being bias-wrecked by him at a concert because it happened so often. There is a general consensus that no one can leave a concert not mesmerised by his stage presence and charisma.
