2 of my favorite people you and Dave Ramsey. I love his passion for helping people have that financial freedom. Thanks to him I was able to have my emergency fund, pay off my credit cards and now my car loan and school loan is the next thing I have to tackle. The envelope system is hard at first but it helps me be more disciplined and once one gets used to it it’s so rewarding to see one is finally having control of our own money and our life more importantly. People do think we are weird but just like Ramsey says “we need to be weird to be able to live like no one else so later on we can live like no one else”. Thank you again for this video!

Thank you for sharing, Tracy! I watched your budgeting videos more than once & I also read Total Money Makeover. As a single professional woman, without children, I’m blessed to be doing very well financially but your videos inspired me to organize my finances in a more realistic & conscientious way.

Inspiring and raw ! Thank you for always being true to who you are ! I’ve been through the program and you don’t realize how free you are until you go through it ! We wake up each day living in the moment and knowing that moment will last without being tied down with debt that after going through this program you realize it suffocated your life ...

Another great video Tracy. I could totally relate to the difficulty of pulling the children out of private school. My husband and I pulled ours out for their last two years of high school; not to become more fiscally responsible (although it DEFINITELY helped with our budget), but to allow them that "exposure" while we could still influence and guide them while they were still under our roof. I agree too that both spouses really need to be on the same page, or becoming financially free will be a much more arduous task! Thanks again for being so transparent and willing to share your personal experiences with us.

Thank you Tracy! My husband and I did this back in the 90’s when we where married. However I am divorced and have a 23 year old daughter on her own. I am not doing good. I have a medical condition now for 8 years and in disability. I am struggling so bad. I decided this week to do a overhaul of everything. I just found your channel and I am thrilled. I feel so guilty because I was so good with money and now just horrible. I am not a shopper type person and I am very thrifty. However, at times I want to buy something at Target etc. I feel guilty buying anything for myself. I am going to get my life back and buckle down and do what is right for my household. Thank you.

You are so right about that financial compatibility factor! I grew up in a home where my parents were polar opposites when it came to their views on money, and it affected every other area of their marriage. I’d say it’s one of the most important areas to be clear on when it comes to having a happy marriage. Another great video!

When my husband and I got married, he taught me the beauty of living below our means. This was drastically different from how I’d lived when I was single.
It took a while to adjust, but I’m SO glad that I did. Not only are you not a slave to bills, you also become free from the care of keeping up with everyone else.
PS: I cannot wait for tomorrow morning’s video!

I literally laughed out loud when you said your kids were caught alive in the minivan LOL Your story reminded me of what Dave Ramsey says, " Live like no one else, so one day, you can live and give like no one else". You go girl! I'm still working the baby steps but had the plastectomy several years ago and just paid off yet another one working a ton of overtime and 2 extra jobs...can't wait to get to Nashville to do my debt free scream woohoo!! I loved hearing your story, thank you :-)

You are so right, Tracy. It's about what takes place in the home. This is where the children will learn and get their security and love. I think my husband and I have to rethink a few things. It's hard. I've avoided it. So I looked up this video to watch again (regarding money).

I liked Dave Ramsey's book. I learned a lot from it and am sad I'm the only person in my household willing to do it. Everyone else looks at me like I"m cuckoo. But that doesn't mean I can't use it for my own budgeting purposes. Great vid!

Hi Tracy. A video so much needed. Unfortunately, I am 52, and ashamed to admit that I have a good income and no savings. And as I work in the private sector in a European country, there is a risk of loosing your job at any time. It’s a pity that I still struggle with my so unwise desires to buy....clothes and makeup! Such a wasted life. So your advice is always so welcome, even if a little late for me. ❤️

Dimitra P. , it is never too late. Believe me. You just need to take the first step. The Universe, God whatever you believe in will help you. I am a witness to that. A single parent got myself into so much debt. I taught I would never make it. I did it one day at the time. My favorite book besides the one Tracy mentioned is " How to get out of debt, stay out of debt and live prosperously by Jerold Mundis". You can do it. Give yourself some love, and forgiveness, and grace. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mistery, today is what matters. So just for today I will not go into more debt. I will be praying for you, and cheering you on.

Thank you for sharing your story Tracy! My husband and I have been through some very hard times financially, and own each of the mistakes we have made. We are both in the 2nd half of our lives, and have a long way to go towards financial freedom, but it is something we work on every day. Sinking Funds and Cash Envelopes are an enormous help to our path to that freedom. We are “snowballing” all of our sons medical bills. Right now I am grateful that we both make very good incomes and can afford to live a stable life. I am also grateful for all the hard lessons learned from each of our financial disasters. As you have said before, you can’t walk around wounded and feeling sorry for yourself.. You have to rise above it, learn from it, and try to do better!

Tracy, I am so glad I found your channel! I am throughly enjoying your videos and all the wonderful topics! I have been wanting to do the Dave Ramsey method but have been scared to begin. And one of the main reasons why is the fact that our three children (ages 9-14) all go to parochial schools! When you revealed that yours did too, wow, did you really hit home with me! And to top it off, both my husband and I are products of Catholic schools, too, K-12!! So that’s all we know! This year is the first year we really feel the pain of the tuition b/c we finally have a freshman, and boy is HS EXPENSIVE! Did you ever make a video speaking in depth about removing your children from parochial school? I really don’t think we want to do that, but we are suffering financially! Thank you so much!❤️

    • @TracyHensel
      @TracyHensel  4 роки тому +2

Thank you for your wonderful comment and for sharing. I have never done a specific video on the transition of parochial to public. I believe if I share my true thoughts too many people would take offense to it. I have no desire to conjur all the negativity. I still believe that for our girls, parochial school was by far the better choice, but because my husband and I did such a great job parenting, we made up for some of the differences. On the other hand, I never regretted our choice because once the girls were in travel sports we would have never been able to do it + it allowed me to stay home and raise our girls. Good luck to you in whatever you choose to do in the long term.

Can you do a video in communicating with your partner in a healthy and open way?... One quick example for me is in finance. Sometimes my partner wants to buy a product and ill let him because I'm afraid if he doesn't get it, he'll feel bad and italso makes me feel bad; while knowing that it will hurt us financially. Vice versa

Tracy I love your videos and advice! You are a great teacher. My parents never never were ever opened up to teach or talk about any of life's lessons like this. Communication is key in marriage. I have a very head strong husband that does things his Way. He is super conservative from a below poverty childhood and it has molded him into a money hoarder and investor. Lol So, it kinda puts me in a hole with my ideas. I admire your marriage and family !! You are lucky..🌸

I have everything written out and ready to go however just to make our primary and secondary bills run smoothly we need about $1150 more then what we are making a fortnight? What would you do in this case as I have tried to cut down on everything I possibly can. I’m also probably over thinking it but we get paid this coming Friday and we have things like a rego and phone bill needing to be paid so I just don’t know where to start in order to make things start working but I am so excited! Hi Lana! You may want to consider setting up a coaching session with me. You can do that from the shop page on my website. Many times, when doing budgeting coaching, I will recommend one of the two getting a secondary job until you can get more ahead. The other option is selling some household items that do not get used. Generally that can really add up. Definitely don't over think it. It takes years for most people to start seeing real results. One pay off at a time. Control what you can control. If you cannot control it, no reason to let it fester. You have the right goals!! Keep moving the needle!

Yay thank you so much for replying, I get so upset because im right in to budgeting, minimalism, selling anything unused however my husband is the total opposite. refuses to sell anything, has a passion doing up cars meaning we have 4 but only drive two, feels like a vicious cycle of me constantly complaining and nagging.in saying that he's perfect in every other way possible hehe. I run my own business but its really quiet at the moment, I also have 3 kids aged 2, 4 and 7 so with no family here to help, getting a job would almost cost more. anyway its all set up and ready to go so once I can get some numbers down I would love to set up a coaching session xxx

My husband and I are newly weds. One of our goals for this year is to start investing. Do you have any recommendations on which books to read to strengthen our knowledge in that area?

Hi Tracy! Good morning. I love love your video's I follow you daily and usually try not to miss your snaps! I started your method and it was a life changer.. However, I have a question, would you do a video regarding anxiety? Or at least your input. I find that a lot of us going through anxiety that a lot of people also see it as a "mental Disease" what would be your input. Thank you and love love your work!! Your rock!

Thanks for sharing your history! During the three years of credit and debt payoff did you return to the work force or add additional income or just cut the extra “fat” from your budget? thanks for all your motivation!

GREAT question!! Thanks for submitting it. I did not return to work. My husband did teach 2 nights a week at a Tech School (College) that brought in some extra cash. Other than that, we cut back substantially!

Took the kids out of a school that gave them a community and best ever scholastic/religious foundation. Too bad for the kids, but hey, you kept the dream house you wanted. As long as mom gets what she wants.

How is that limiting you from achieving the goals you have for yourself? I coach on Limited Beliefs. I currently have a waiting list, but I can certainly help you with these GAIL's. It would be a great goal for 2020.

You provide excelkent information on a variety of subjects. However, aking the kids out of a loving, supportive, educational school exposed your limited belief system so I don't feel ypu are the one to help me. Thank ypu for your offer to help. My family is grown, house paid for and I am ok.
