      Also.... backing on from the gift side of things.... when to decide to stop purchasing for kids, friends and family.... eg age? Closeness etc?

    I love that you talk about budgeting, finances, manners, etiquette, grooming, etc!! There’s nothing elegant about being in (unnecessary) debt or eating junk food in our exercise clothes every day. There’s also nothing shameful about living on a budget, yet so few people are willing to talk about it! Thank you for sharing 😃

    I’ve been loving your videos for years and especially love you holiday budgeting and planning series. This year will be so different and difficult for many of us. For me, my job loss means my budget has completely changed and it’s hard to even imagine looking at the holidays in a COVID 19 world. Many of my family members need to self isolate due to chronic health issues. I’m hoping that you will consider doing a holiday planning with these restrictions in mind. Best wishes for good health and happiness always.

    Tracy your envelope system is a miracle! I only started using it for the past 5 months, yet I saved for all the Christmas shopping and half of the budget for my trip to Berlin in 2019! I am planning on using the system for all of 2019! Thank you for your wonderful advices this past year! I hope you have a great New Year's Eve! Lots of love! 💕💕💕

    Tracy once again you have shared priceless information. I will have a peaceful Christmas 2019. I struggled with being prepared financially and I see the benefits of the envelope system. It is forcing me to think about how I spend money. It is also helping to stay focused. I have spent money on many unnecessary things. Now I have color. Thank you for taking the time to share with us. You look fantastic 💄 I can't wait to spend time with my children this Christmas . I have twin granddaughters ( son a sheriff Dept in the Army now ) the girls are three and I haven't seen them for a year 🌻I'm so excited . I really want to enjoy it . Being prepared is very wise . I'm from a large Military family ( Christians ) it's been a great years since I have spent money at Christmas . It's very cleansing not to put that pressure on oneself . I am so excited for 2019 Christmas 🎉 though it's going to be so much fun . Debt free .

    Huge user of the app Giftlist. This way I out in the budgeted amount oer person and if say I find what I want to get them on sale in July I purchase and enter into the app under there name with the $ amount. That way come novemeber when I am getting the last of it done I knwo who I have bought for already and it gives a running total. This has worked very well to stay on budget and not either over spend or buy duplicates for people or add people randomly. Totally going to do an account for birthdays! Never thought of having a secondary account for that in addition to christmas makes sense!

      Thank you Ann! You are one of the few that will admit to credit card use and abuse. Honestly not only shows a lot about a person, but it also indicates the potential level that a person can succeed in. If you say your goal is to change something, you will. You have taken ownership and responsibility. True characteristics of people that are willing to make a change. God Bless you! I LOVE that you made my desserts and that they were such a hit!!! Wishing you much success in 2019!

    Tracy I enjoyed this video so much. You are posting it at a perfect time...right before the January pay checks start rolling in. I have watched all of your budgeting videos and I'm excited to start out the new year with a 2019 Christmas budget plan. My husband and I were able to use mostly cash for our three children this year but I would love to have that money available sooner. I have added a page in my new bullet journal so I can implement this for Christmas 2019 and a June vacation. I'm realizing now that June envelope should have been started sooner but that's ok. I would also LOVE the budgeting tips for children. My kids are 11,8, and 6 so this is a great time to get them on board. Thanks so much.

    I've enjoyed your budgeting videos and this new one as well. Helpful future videos would include investing and how to help our children with budgeting. I find the process to be overwhelming. I have started a budget using the envelope method several times. There are so many categories to include. I've tried broadening and also narrowing categories but still end up with too much to consider. It's the little expenses that trip you up, such as, scholastic book orders, an unexpected gift, etc. Making a workable budget and putting it into play can be very trying. Thanks for all the information and guidance you provide.

      That's fantastic Laura! I wish you much luck this year. I will be interested in hearing how you feel come Christmas 2019. You are absolutely correct. Let's say that I find a good deal and purchase something in January. It gets recorded ... generally I will put the receipt in the envelope with the person name on the receipt. Then I will pay myself back from the money that gets put in the envelope. I deposit the money back into my business account. I hope this answers your question. Glad you loved the Peanut Butter Bars.

    Wow! Never thought about what. Spend! Thank you for an eye opener! I’m gonna do it. Can you please make a video about how to teach kids about money? We got a chase account for our son including an attached savings. We have not given him that card for fear he will blow through his money. The debit has only 200.00 on it ( not his savings amount) I can view purchases on line. My question is how do I start this process. He is 16... I know kinda old to start, but he is a bit immature and thinks he comes from wealth. Ugh. Told him that is not the case! Thank you Tracey!! Love all of your content ❤️😘 Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!

    • @TracyHensel
      @TracyHensel  5 років тому

      Thank you for sharing, Irene! Yo are certainly not too late. But, yes .... Starr ASAP. I especially say that due to your comment about your son thinking he comes from wealth. That is a clear indicator of not being taught the value of a dollar, hard work and living below your means. He will catch on very quickly. You need to get him using that debit card and patrol the heck out of it. Every transaction is an opportunity for discussing and teaching. Good Luck!! Hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas, as well. Many blessings wished to you in 2019!

    Tracy, regarding how to utilize the cash in the envelopes to make online purchases, we keep one (and ONLY one) credit card with a high reward program and we purchase as much as we can with this card, then deposit the cash into our household checking acct and pay the card off in full each month. It sounds like a lot of extra steps, but those cash back rewards add up quickly (and why NOT take advantage of them?). xoxo

    Tracy, you look gorgeous. Can you please do a video all about Botox and fillers. How many units? How often? Ian afraid of having anything done but you make it look beautiful and natural. I’m 28: when would you suggest I start getting Botox to prevent wrinkles?

    Don’t you really still have 24 paychecks - just allocate the last 3 checks of this year to the next year’s Christmas envelope. Then the last 3 checks from 2019 go into 2020 envelope.
    Would love to see money management for teens!!

      @TracyHensel  5 років тому

      Yes, as I mentioned in the video, there are 24 paychecks coming from that income.

      I must have misunderstood. I thought you said because you want the money available to shop by early December, that you really only had 22 checks to draw from. I enjoy your videos! Happy 2019!

    You could put that money onto a gift card also.

      Yes, gift cards would be classified as gifts.

      I think she meant the whole envelope amount to be put into a gift card in November and then use that gift card when you yourself buy the gifts.

      Yes. Take the total amount and put on a gift card to purchase gifts, online or in store. 😊

      Hi Lynn! A debit card works the same as a credit card. It's just that you are not borrowing money that does not belong to you. You have the money up front.

      Tracy Hensel ok my debit card you can’t use for purchases online I would have to use Paypal if I did t want to use my credit card but that is a hassle if you need to return it would take up to 30 days for a refund I’m in Canada by the way I think some banks have visa debit cards now
