my guess would be because he was going to mention something like a pastry or something for sarah but didnt want to mention it to ellie at the time, my theory at least because if you notice anywhere else, joel hardly ever stutters unless it’s sarah related
I think at that point Joel still saw Ellie as a bit of an annoyance. It's pretty early on in their travels together and he hasn't quite warmed up to Ellie yet.
The classic sound of a man who loves some sorta specialty drink he is too embarrassed to admit to liking. That or he bought an absurd amount. I can relate to the later...
On a different context, I never understood Ellie's feelings about Joel. He always saw her as his daughter but Ellie was with joel in part 1, denied being with anyone else just because she was just scared that those people would die or leave her alone. In Part 1, during that Giraffe scene, Joel proposes her that they dont have to find the fireflies and they can as well go back to Tommy's but she denies. She hates him most of the times just for denying her to die for the vaccine's cause but never thought that he would never allow her to die like that after what happened to Sara. The same girl, just goes on a revenge spree after he dies..just killing everyone in her wake but never thought of spending good times with him or show him some affection. If I was in Ellie's place, I would have surprised him with a bag of coffee myself. The only point where she cared for him was when he was injured. This is the reason why i didnt get connected to part II as i did with part 1. Joel despite of whatever kind of person he was, he cared for her and has gone to any length to protect her and he killed people to protect her and to get her to the finish which is why we all loved part 1.
I think it's really important to remember that contributing to a vaccine was what Ellie *decided*, for herself, was her purpose in life. Joel took that away from her because she was in no position to stop. And then he made her believe that a vaccine was never even a possibility. That's not what a caring parent does, that's what parents do for themselves. Out of fear. Ellie made a decision, a huge one, and Joel robbed that from her. I love Joel, and I empathize, but you really shouldn't paint him as this great dad. He didn't actually always see Ellie as a daughter. He didn't even want to finish the job until Tess guilted him as a dying wish to deliver Ellie to the Fireflies. Really think about it, Joel was about to abandon Ellie and the vaccine mission if it wasn't for Tess.
@@misterkevinoh Nah, Joel was a far greater person than both Ellie and Tess, Ellie wouldn't be a great of a person if it weren't for Joel, Ellie definitely owes everything to Joel
Ellie just said he WOULD trade half his stuff for a bag of beans, a figure of speech. Joel is not that stupid to do that, plus it wouldn't be embarrassing. It's probably more likely a porn mag or some shit. Can imagine some traders would want that in the apocalypse.
the image of Joel standing next to that poster with a goofy smile is just perfect for this video
Does anyone wonder why Joel sounded defensive in 0:15?
“Just... Just coffee.”
His first “Just” sounded he was caught doing something

@@source3lerg always thought maybe he met his wife there
@@Wusgoodfatlip not likely, joel was 17-18 when he had sarah, so joel and his unnamed wife met during high school

That last bit made legit cry. This game, this video game, has no right to make me feel the things it makes me feel.
1:43 joel rizzed the shit out of someone's grandma for that bag of beans
Here here, Joel! Team Coffee!
I just realized Joel got to have some coffee on his last night sad but nice at the same time
I love the part in the show when Joel drinks coffee in his metal bottle while driving

Joel really loves his coffeee
Ah love this
1:00 You bite your tongue. You too Ellie, for desecrating Joel and coffee drinkers united. Coffee Lounges over tea parties.
Any theories for what Joel traded for the cup of coffee?
i did another video on this, he traded half of his stuff for coffee.he tells ellie on the final cutscene with her when she forgives him.
It's either his entire comic book collection, or alot of guns, medical supplies and some of his movies
Half his stuff ellie mentions it thats why we dont see his other guns his pistol his assault rifle his flametowher he gave everything for a lil coffe
Ellie’s immunity

I think joel went for some "dutch" coffee a few times 😉
