Just came across this. Super informative and observant. Your hard work paid off; it wouldn't surprise me if Naughty Dog worked with actual hunters on this (maybe even some of their own staff hunt recreationally, you never know!). Also, extra kudos to you: I come across a lot of informational clips on YT all of the time. While they are trying to provide information, many presenters pad their videos too much (sometimes to the point the video is much longer than necessary) or even fail to give concise explanations for their info. Some people just RAMBLE. You have avoided those pitfalls! I am a new subscriber now, too...can't wait to watch your other vids and see what you come up with next! Take care.
Man, Moses, I really appreciate the feedback. It's good to know the effort and details is appreciated and let's me know that I'm accomplishing what I'm setting out to do, so thank you for that, and welcome to the channel.
@@duncanjohnson697 - Interesting. Going to have to look into that. Thanks!
@@duncanjohnson697 @wolfofthorns - I was able to watch a video or two on this finally! The whistling language is called Sylbo, and it's used in La Gomera, an island in the Spanish Canary Islands on the west coast of Africa. What's crazy is that their language has MANY more meanings that just the brief whistles that the fictitious Seraphites use! Apparently, it's based on the rise in pitch of how they would speak in Spanish...mind blowing! Thanks again for doing this video, Dan...and thanks Duncan on the 411! Cheers.
@@WolfofThorns - WHOA! So I came across another video, and there is ANOTHER whistling language that is going extinct, this time it is on the Greek island village of Antio. Similar methods, it seems. They say that it traces its' origins back to Ancient Greek times, to the Persians. Very interesting!

@@eat_pray_porg8450 An awesome find, Moses. Thank you for sharing this. They sound like birds chirping at each other, which makes one wonder what birds do say with their chirps, especially given their responses to human music, to say little of avian intelligence that certain species express. Some of the whistles are evocative of the call the Seraphites do. Awesome stuff, Moses.
Wow, playing the game again knowing what each whistle means is so cool and more immersive
Happy this helped to make things more immersive for you!
Damn. I was so focused on hating the game that I never really had an opportunity to notice small things like this. Incredible.
Game has so many more small details that I really like
"Alright, I should go to sleep, I have more important things to do tomorrow"

Lmao

AGGHHHA
Best game I EVER played. Hands down and I’ve played some Legendary Games..
I can’t stand the SCARS. They can rake leaves in hell for all I care. But their whistles were very smart as communication.
I found Abby's old account!
I like to imagine that the call and answer whistle is them going "report in" "all clear" similar to how militaries use an "echo" response system to confirm that a squad/soldier is still in combat shape
Really appreciate the effort on this video ! Probably not easy !!
Did you know that there is a whistle language spoken in one of the Canary Islands, in Spain? It is used by shepherds to communicate among the island's valleys, it's called Silbo Canario.
By the way, congrats on your job decoding this language. Thank you!
Honestly the first time I heard their whistles, it sounded so unsettling that I thought they only used whistles as their form of communication and not talk. (Especially the “Man Down” whistle. 😰) But then later on I heard a few of them converse and alert each other from time to time. So my unsettledness started to die down into confidence thinking they’re just simple human beings and not demonic beings… 😅
Cool that you can learn these whistles as a player and use it to your advantage.
feels amazing to be able to tell what they're saying
and i actually passed that small test in the end hahaha, great video
Thank for them i have PTSD every time i hear a whistle, and people in my country love whistle to communicate.
Glad you enjoyed the video, Werewolf! What country do you live in where they whistle to communicate?
@@WolfofThorns Brazil, people use whistle to call, to warning, to help, to sing (A lot) very common in Factories and street Markets, even Police and drug dealers use tactically, but thing is people here is so used with whistles that they don't care. Which makes more difficult to whistle.
