I bought a new Marlin 30-30 lever action last year and it is a great gun. They have been making great improvements in the last few years. I had read about all the quality control issues so I contacted the marlin rep before purchasing and he was great. He admitted their issues and worked me through everything they have done and are doing to bring their quality up to spec. I was convinced and am very happy with my purchase.
I picked up a 1895 cowboy today, Sept 28 2018, looked over it....and it looks pretty good overall. Even the forearm. Its rounded like the older 1..and the barrel and the receiver, is 1 color, and the wood looks good..out of a 10, I would give it a 9...and I love your video's...keep it up
I only own one .45-70, and it happens to be a Marlin 1895 Cowboy (CB). I purchased it before Marlin was bought out in 2007. I decided on this model for a few reasons: Needed a .45-70 big bore for hunting and knock-down power. Needed reliability and a sturdy designed rifle. I chose the 1895CB because it could do everything I needed it to, along with having a 9 round capacity. It may not be the perfect 'Bush Gun', but it will serve for that as well. This one is one of my favorite rifles in my collection. I can't see myself owning another .45-70 because this one does it all.
The 45-70 is simply a go-to round but the shooter really needs to know the drop/distance numbers. The Freedom Group has been buying up a number of older name companies and the quality has completely gone down the tubes... The remarks made about the trigger being very stiff comes as no surprise. 100+ year old Marlins are smooth by any measure and compare well with old Winchesters. We had a recent production model Marlin 30-30 in our shop and the wood to metal borders had 1/8" gaps! It seems like older Winchester and Marlins will continue to rise in price, day by day. Thanks for the honest review!
I have one of these rifles and it is my favorite! with the 26" barrel the recoil is less than my .30-30. But, I found some 430grain from HSM called bear loads. The rifle holds 10 rounds but with the bear loads about 4 consecutive shots is about all you want. Love this rifle!

Not every round will set tanerite off hot 357 mag out of a rifle will but not a 4" revolver same load but would be a fun science experiment to see what can and can not set it off
Owning one of these rifles I was amazed at the faults you pointed out. My rifle was manufactured early 2016 and I have to say, it didn't have any of the faults you pointed out. Bluing was perfect, fore-stock fitted brilliantly, etc, etc. The one thing I moaned about and not for long (I fixed it) was the (perceived) sharp edge around the handle. The other thing at the moment is that it costs me $A3.75 per shot, lol, while shooting it in. That'll change when I start reloading.... All in all, I love it, so do the local "Marlin knockers"...... Thanks for posting Hick, really enjoyed watching this. Cheers from downunder :)
I'm glad people still enjoy shooting old school rifles. Most people are all "tacticool" now a days. My grandpa instilled in me a love for old school rifles. Don't get me wrong I love modern sporting rifles too, I just think it's a shame that some people don't enjoy older rifles.
Yeah, there's a lot of that tacticool bullcrap going around these days, and a few too many people that seem to think that it has to have the Glock stamp or use the AR platform to work. The CCW arguments get even dumber, sadly enough.
Vaun Earl I'm 18 but to be honest as a young rifleman everyone thinks I'm into that tactical stuff and I'm always drowned out with it. But I like these old school cannons like grandaddy used to shoot. Both my grandpas had a huge effect on my way of doing things
My Cowboy is in .45 Colt . What a beauty. Had my friend and gunsmith engrave my initials on receiver. I sometimes get it out just to polish and admire its American steel and walnut. A great sidekick to my various wheel guns in the selfsame loading. It’s gleaming octagonal barrel a nod to times past. Also have an octagon Marlin 97 long barrel. Shoots .22 short, long, long rifle interchangeably without adjustment. A beauty as well and so enjoyable to shoot. Breaks down for cleaning with only a coin. It a perfect companion to my Ruger stainless single six hand gun in ubiquitous.22 as well.

Hickok is one of my favorites on the shooting channels! Pure objectivity in his shows. Can't stand those self proclaimed, young punk Rambo, wanna-be UA-cam firearms channels............
My fiancée bought me one of these as an engagement present for proposing to her, I got it in October of 2017 and I've got to say it is an excellent gun! The fit and finish on it is great, the sights are right on right out of the box, it cycles very smoothly; just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there, that I've got nothing bad to say about this gun, I just absolutely love it!
I’m in love with this rifle. There’s just something so satisfying about leverguns for starters, along with the longer 26in barrel, and having 9+1 rounds of .45-70 on tap just takes the cake. Big bore cowboy assault rifle perfect for a brush rifle role especially with .45-70 or defending the homestead. The super heavy trigger though?! I just watched a review from Jeff with Gunblast and he seemed to like it, saying it was around 4.5lbs. Huge fan of your vids Hickok, thanks for dedicating your time good sir.
I recently acquired this same model through my local gunshop though it is one of the original JM models. The 45-70 is my all time favorite rifle cartridge and I have owned many over the last forty or so years. That big hunk of slow moving lead has never allowed a whitetail to take a single step after only one shot and back in the pre-Leverevolution days, when I exclusively used Rem. 300 grain SJHP ammo, my big old Maine moose walked only 50 feet or so before dropping using my old 1895SS. I did have one problem with my 1895 Cowboy model in that I tried to sight it in for close range work where most of my hunting shots tend to be between 20 to 50 yards. Sighting the iron sites in at 50 yards I couldn't get the hits any closer than about 6 inches high using the Hornady Leverevolution 325 grain ammo. While I was able to adjust my hold to overcome that problem I instead chose to mount and sight in a scope to compensate for that and it's now a tack driver. Your new model certainly didn't seem to have that same problem! Have you heard of this being a common issue? The octagon brl and that 9 round magazine capacity won't let me loosen my grip on this rifle either way, lol.
I still like the look of their stainless Model 95 SBL .45-70 the best. There's just something about a 'compact' lever action rifle that gives me a nice big smile.
If you are talking about a 'compact' then I like my 1895CBA. It is the cowboy Hickok is shooting in this video, except the barrel is the 18.5" with a full mag tube. I like this because you get the best of both worlds of the guide gun and the cowboy. Octagonal barrel, full mag tube straight stock. But I also like my full size cowboy as well. I have the matching set.
Ohh heck yeah. I purchased my first Marlin a few weeks ago being the 45-70 SBL and I love it. My favourite rifle. Ohhh... I also bought Federal ammo today. I was going to get something else but since they help make your videos possible... decided to support them.
I know exactly what you guys mean ! I had a Marlin 45-70 guide gun in stainless great gun ! I traded for another love of mine a original 1897 Winchester 12 ga built in 1957 the last year. Can't to find another Marlin 95 I do miss mine ! 45-70 is one of my favorite rounds!
Hicock, just got to tell u I love your videos man. For so many reasons lol... Just everything u do and say is spot on man. Thanks for what u give to all your viewers. 💙😃👍
Its interesting to see the world of difference in quality firearms vs. any other guns. There are guns and then there are firearms that make gun collecting so much fun. Amazing aim by the way!!! 👏👏👏
Shout out from England :) Love your videos. Think I've worked though all of them since discovering your channel last year. Really nice, detailed, wide ranging selection of firearms with some fun to boot. Keep em' coming!
btw, Hickok 45 thank you.. so much. you are the one true thing we have right now. TRUTH!!!! your videos on guns help us all find the right buy for what we need. I appreciate that honest in them .every firearm is different and we need a review to help us choose.
I have a vintage 45/70 CB and a Guide Gun (ported) and love it. I also had the CB in 45LC just like your but made early/mid 2000's. Sent it back to Marlin (not Freedom group- Marlin) 3 time due to blueing issues, fit and finish and issue with excessive lead'n. After sending it back twice for the lead'n issue a friend did mold of the chamber and the forcing cone was cut almost at 90deg with a sharp transition. Called Marlin (pre FG or Remlin as it has been called) and they stated the chamber was "with in spec's". I traded it off shortly after that. I now have a Henry Steel Big Boy in 45LC which shoot amazingly well. The point agrees with your statement about Marlin's production, QC and customer service going down hill in its last years before Freedom Group acquired them. I am glad to hear the functionality is now there on the FG Marlin's but until they get there fit and finish QC squared away, I think I will be buying Henry's.
James Lagnese Side port is nice and if I could have one with both at an affordable price I would have went that route. For the 45LC I see the tube feed as an advantage when loading from the empty state. I going to get pvc and fashion a speed loader tube. The only disadvantage is loading on the fly which a loading port gives you. As for the 45/70 Henry I am a little turned off that the capacity is not equivalent to the Marlin SBL or GBL. The Marlin's (Remlin's) boast a 6+1 while the Henry is only 4+1 with a full length tube. That's the same as my late 90's Guide Gun with a 3/4 length tube. Haven't quite got that one figured out yet.
My 444 is 4+1. I never considered it a handicap. One neat gun I saw was a guy that bought a Marlin Cowboy in 38-55 and converted it to 444, so it has the long mag tube and he had tiger stripe maple used for the stocks. It's beautiful.
Really good for Elk. Fend off a Bear really well. Nothing will save ya from a Mountain Lion, just too darn fast. Love the cartridge, so easy to reload. Early 90's Guide model is my keeper.
I picked up a 1885 CB 26 inch today and Marlin was listening to you. The fit and finish is Outstanding the barrel is not as glossy....i am very pleased with the New one, manufactured May 2019
Hey I'm new to guns in general and I've watched most of your videos. Watching your videos has helped me so much in picking my first gun. You're very knowledgeable and safe with guns and I like how much you push safety. Thanks for being a great resource for people, especially people like me. Btw 45-70 is the best haha.
Bought my 1895 GBL right after I got back from Afghanistan in 2012. I bought it because I watched one of your 45/70 vids. Found out later it was a Remlin:(. However it's worked and works flawlessly! Thanks for the video. More 45/70 PLEASE!
I've got some older Marlins and I know the Remlin era guns were very poor for fit/finish but they seem to be much better now when I handle them at gun shops. I'm glad to see them come back and with some new catalog offerings! Now if they would just bring back the levermatic....
It's a shame they killed off the 444 and I haven't heard anything about quality improvements. I think a lot of Marlin devotes are pissed off by the drop in quality when Remington bought Marlin. I have a 1982 444 Marlin with the MG barrel. It shoots better than my .30-06.
Watching this video 4 years later and knowing what happened to Remington, I gotta say I'm looking forward to buying this rifle when Ruger starts making it.
Guys a buddy came down with a marlin 45/70 shot low found a guy on you tube say Remington put the wrong site's on some. We cut down the front site an made it shoot better so he can use it in a month for deer season. He's going to buy new site's for it. Sad really
I like that rifle. I noticed it shoots a little low. My mid 90’s Winchester 1886 reproduction shoots a little high until about 200 yards. I love octagon barrels also. The modern 300 grain cartridges I have purchased and reloaded for are amazing. I truly believe modern lever actions and modern reproductions with modern cartridges could easily and safely be used for African dangerous game. They deliver that much energy, penetration and expansion cavitation. I mean those original cartridges could take a big bull buffalo out to 600 yards. That’s just an incredibly effective cartridge. I have to say I very much appreciate your patient gentlemanly manner and instructive knowledge as a positive ambassador of firearms and all shooting disciplines. You are very much appreciated.
I use to have one of these and loved it. Looked up the serial number of mine, said it was made in 2007 in Connecticut a few years before the whole remlin debacle. With 9 rounds of 45-70 in the tube it's a hillbilly battle rifle! With the 26" barrel 45-70 ammo is not going to go any faster. Yet very easy to handle and not as big as you would think it would be, altho a bit nose heavy when fully loaded. Put a Skinner peep sight on it and it was good.
Nice shooting too. I’ve always liked your interactive 2 liters, and cans of spray paint, too fun! Over the years I’ve learned so much about firearms from you. Thank you for imparting your knowledge about hand guns both revolvers and semi automatics as well as the rifles like this Marlin model 95 Cowboy.
I've always been impressed and satisfied with the authority of the .45-70 when it knocks down silhouettes. My pre-Freedom Group 1895 CB has great fit and finish and nice wood with some nicely-subtle figure in the buttstock. The bluing on the receiver and barrel match.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets particular about the stocks and bluing on these. Took me forever to find a new marlin that had a decent blue with a butt/fore-end that relatively matched and had a nice grain.
New shooter here: You have me dreaming of shooting one of these. I've fired a 375 and some big shotgun slugs, but I want to experience this particular kick. Looks fun.
Here I was initially thinking it could only hold four rounds but he just kept shooting; but I guess that's one of the differences between the Guide Gun and the Cowboy.
I bought a Marlin 1895 Cowboy two months ago. The fit and finish is good and the action is real smooth. I put a Skinner sight on it that works fine with the original front sight and replaced the safety with a saddle ring. I shoot 300 grain lead on 15 grains of Trail Boss with good accuracy. I had some doubts about Marlin but the gun that I got is just fine. The reason I settled on a Marlin was the loading gate, I like Henry but not the way they load.
Been watching your videos for a while now and a great job as always. You are informative as well as entertaining. Tell John the camera work is superb as well. I love seeing the watermelons get shot!! Keep up the good work!
I bought mine new in '03 ('02 manufacture). It needed a little rubbing with steel wool to get rid of the finish runs, but the stocks were well fitted and rounded into the metal (like your 1894). The barrel is not that spray-paint gloss but a beautiful satin finish that matches the sides of the receiver (the top is flat) and the magazine tube. I could shoot it into less than two moa with the semi-buckhorn sight, but I quickly fitted a Brockman receiver sight with a (forgot the name) variable aperture and a big Lyman globe miles away up front. It is my most prized Marlin of many (all Marlin Marlins).
Your in the UK? I think you can own lever guns, i know you can own bolts and shot guns there. Lever guns are probably ok. Join the sport, the more shooters there are the more support you will enjoy. Most Brits today think firearms are from another planet. Didnt used to be that way and it doesnt have to be that way.
So sad you Brits have given your gun rights away. I actually have never been a "gun" person myself but when they started talking about taking our gun rughts away I started buying firearms. I so believe that the population owning and bearing firearms is key to freedom and democracy. I will say that the loss of firearm owner ship will be loss here as well and it will be our demise.....
Finally got a Marlin 1895 in 45-70. I wanted one about as long as I have owned firearms. Never had the money. At first, I was worried since I heard Marlin's quality control had started to diminish. But it came in better than I expected. It is a very beautiful for a plain rifle. The trigger is light and crisp. Though I agree that for the price, there should be a certain amount of detail work, the rifle I recieved definitely broke in beautifully. I also kind of love the less elegant look. I also just love the feeling of satin finishes.
thanks for talking to Marlin people . Hope it helps. I ordered a stainless one for my boy last year and had to send the first one back because the fit and finish was just horible. the second was much nicer btw.
Oh Lord, had one in hand @ the defunct Gander Mountain in Palm Beach, Fl. & i sat on the fence. It just felt so right, too. Thank You, for another great one.
I was stoked to get the .45-70 (Old Reliable), but even maxed out it just wasn't pulling things down fast enough. Might have screwed myself with the modern weapons mod. Still... honking around with a 20mm ATG or Vulcan is pretty nice, if you're not in a foot race.
best knock-down power of any deer hunting rifle that I've ever shot !!! ... 30-30 they keep on running , 30-06 they keep on running , 45-70 they drop where they stand ... no question !!!
I really enjoy watching your videos I've been thinkin about getting myself a 45-70 for deer hunting which one would you prefer I'm stuck between two choices I've been looking at the cowboy model that you show on this video or the guide gun from one of your other videos I'm just wondering which might be the better option did you see much performance in accuracy with the cowboy model seeing that it has a 26 inch barrel as compared to the 18inch barrel the guide gun has also most of my shots are usually taken under 200yards I'm just wondering if I should save a lil more and get the cowboy model or not if it would be worth the extra 150dollars
Wow....today I officially added a Marlin to my burgeoning Gun Collection. Amazing timing. This is why Hickok is the Elvis of the online Firearms Community. 😊 Synchronicity.
Picked up a 1895 45-70 cb 2020 model. Fit and finish is excellent. Added a safety delete with a brass follower. You have a awesome channel. Keep up the great work
It's AR500, so even .308, .30-06, 5.56, 8mm Mauser, etc. do very little damage to it. At 75 yards, which is a bit closer than recommended, they last about a year, generally, before I hammer them to death.
This was my second purchase from Marlin after my 30/30. I have no regrets in either one. Truly an heirloom class firearm and both will be handed down at some point
I would love to come to Moscow, provided I can pack my Glock 19 while I'm there, as well as browse some of your best gun shops and maybe pick up a select fire AK to bring home on the plane. :-)
I've been living over here in Moscow for 14 years, and I can tell you the gun shops will just break your heart.....lots of fine weapons, none of which you as a foreigner can legally buy or export. But if you DO come, let me know, I'd be happy to show you around, keep you out of trouble.
nice...my dad has an old Marlin.35 JM model...love it! I see the top rail is still the same...it's funny my grandmother's family was Hickock.. changed to Hickok..
Black Walnut is a bland wood. I’m a custom writing pen maker and Black Walnut to me is just lack luster, it’s okay but nothing to write home about in my opinion. Than you for such a great and thorough review of this 45-70 Marlin. I’m with you, I think that the octagonal barrel is totally the old cowboy look, very cool!
Hey Hickok, at the risk if sounding like a complete newbie, I gotta ask, what was with all the paper(I think) flying out on the first few shots with the handloads? Not too familiar with handloading or 45-70 either, just looked odd like confetti or something. Anywho, wonderful video as usual brother, keep up the good work, we all appreciate it!
I came across a 1895 CB in 38-55. I have fired the 45-70 in the past. A buddy used it to hunt Elk. He reliaded as a hobby. The first time I fired his rifle, it beat the devil out of my shoulder. I've fired big bore before. But this 45-70 just kicked hard. One day we were firing rifles and he brought the Marlin and his repro 1873 Trap carbine. Same reload ammo. The Marlin was pain...the " Trap" an officers version was just a soft shove. I finally " fingered" out the butt on the Marlin, plastic, was so narrow. The trap butt was wider. Thst 38-55 was sold before I got back. Now...That Marlin rifle is like hens teeth trying to find one.

+DudeistPriest I know a few guys who carry single actions for ccw, I sure wouldn't want to try mugging them.
Vaun Earl
I'm 18 but to be honest as a young rifleman everyone thinks I'm into that tactical stuff and I'm always drowned out with it. But I like these old school cannons like grandaddy used to shoot. Both my grandpas had a huge effect on my way of doing things
But when i get old enough to conceal carry I'm getting a Ruger Single Six 22lr to practice with and a Super Blackhawk 44mag to carry

I would like to see a video of a firearm from the second you receive it from buds. Kinda like an unboxing video Hickok 45 style.
This has got to be my favorite video so far, thank you Hickok and John! keep up the great work!
I live in the Netherlands. We are not allowed to have guns so i watch your channel a lot....jealous of course...

Hickok is one of my favorites on the shooting channels! Pure objectivity in his shows.
Can't stand those self proclaimed, young punk Rambo, wanna-be UA-cam firearms channels............
Bought one of these for my old man for fathers day. Still waiting for it to arrive!
Work for Rem. Arms, got it with employee discount. Employees come last unfortunately!
Glad you're keeping racism alive and well in your family.
What? What in the world does this have to do with race?
Yeah.. cause that made NO sense once so ever... Someone is "racist" for.. buying their father a gun for father's day...???
Don't mind the liberals, when they're not licking doorknobs they're race-baiting online.
The 4570 is 1 of my favorite rounds and weapons, Marlin did a pretty decent job with that weapon. It's on my buy list for sure
I LOVE the Marlin action. Smooth and simple. Takes me about 2 minutes to disassemble and clean.
I know what you mean; it's like having an absolute "artillery piece" we can easily carry around in one hand. :-)
😉
I know exactly what you guys mean ! I had a Marlin 45-70 guide gun in stainless great gun ! I traded for another love of mine a original 1897 Winchester 12 ga built in 1957 the last year. Can't to find another Marlin 95 I do miss mine ! 45-70 is one of my favorite rounds!
Hicock, just got to tell u I love your videos man. For so many reasons lol... Just everything u do and say is spot on man. Thanks for what u give to all your viewers. 💙😃👍
It's really interesting when you shoot the red plate, you can see the miss dropping just low, and then you adjust. Thanks for the great content, man.
The Henry's are neat, but I don't like how they load. It's a little clumsy. I'd rather have a side port.
James Lagnese bet it was gorgeous.
James Lagnese wow that is indeed beautiful!
Really good for Elk. Fend off a Bear really well. Nothing will save ya from a Mountain Lion, just too darn fast.
Love the cartridge, so easy to reload. Early 90's Guide model is my keeper.
Lowell KD8WVY yes I love my G model
Will be getting this model 1895 cowboy for my 25 year award from work in a couple weeks, will be my first lever action.
How do you like it?
I picked up a 1885 CB 26 inch today and Marlin was listening to you. The fit and finish is Outstanding the barrel is not as glossy....i am very pleased with the New one, manufactured May 2019
Just ordered mine, can't wait, all my long guns are lever action, but all are under 20" (16, 18, & 20"), will be my first true long gun 🤠
Finally got it, love it, beautiful gun so happy, my favorite 45-70, favorite lever action. 🤠🔫
love the video. Im a disabled vet and was forced to sell my 45-70 and miss it so much. still have rounds for it
Hey I'm new to guns in general and I've watched most of your videos.
Just get a savage 99 bud.
Sad really
bought one of the standard model 1895s about a month ago and I can say the fit is much better.
Agreed
Wonderful video finally a gun that fits your frame thanks for all the hard work you do
Those 45-70 punch like crazy ! I would like to try one
That lever sound never gets old.
Sound of safety
I use to have one of these and loved it. Looked up the serial number of mine, said it was made in 2007 in Connecticut a few years before the whole remlin debacle. With 9 rounds of 45-70 in the tube it's a hillbilly battle rifle! With the 26" barrel 45-70 ammo is not going to go any faster. Yet very easy to handle and not as big as you would think it would be, altho a bit nose heavy when fully loaded. Put a Skinner peep sight on it and it was good.
The way he laugh's every time " he smokes some pot" is the best. His dad jokes are on point!
Can we write him in for President??!
Yes
Absolutely!
You don’t already?
Stainless and all these new high speed science finishes are great for many guns, but I will always love the classic blued and wood guns.
I've always been impressed and satisfied with the authority of the .45-70 when it knocks down silhouettes. My pre-Freedom Group 1895 CB has great fit and finish and nice wood with some nicely-subtle figure in the buttstock. The bluing on the receiver and barrel match.
The Sound Of That 45/70 Marlin lever Action cocking is pure music , you guys in the states are just so lucky .
Just bought my first one today! Along with bullets can't wait to try it out this weekend
All of these videos are so damn entertaining. Hickok45 is one talented gentleman
I would buy one in a shot! Thought the stock was attractive. ..maybe in better light it would look better?
Watching Hickok firing the 45-70 reminds of Hank JR. A country boy can survive.
You can't have to many 45-70s!
Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets particular about the stocks and bluing on these. Took me forever to find a new marlin that had a decent blue with a butt/fore-end that relatively matched and had a nice grain.
horandy LeveRevolution 325 grain is my favorite 45-70 hunting round. really made more for these lever actions more so than my single shot
I'd like to see more info about ++P handloads with LeverEvolution bullets out of this 26" heavy barreled rifle at long distance.
New shooter here: You have me dreaming of shooting one of these. I've fired a 375 and some big shotgun slugs, but I want to experience this particular kick. Looks fun.
did i count 9 shots?? good lord that's some firepower
@@maxotto9877 yup ten with one on chamber
Plus one
Here I was initially thinking it could only hold four rounds but he just kept shooting; but I guess that's one of the differences between the Guide Gun and the Cowboy.
Just one of those could make of things....
"Your always allowed a +1 unless it’s a double barreled shotgun or anything of the sorts."

The M95 cb was my first time dealing with the 45-70. So much fun
It is my most prized Marlin of many (all Marlin Marlins).
lucky yanks, you can have all most any firearm you want. love the video Hickok 👍👍
Hey you gave your country away.Soak in your own gravy.
@@rickwilson8622 unfortunatly alot of us didnt give our country away. We had our rights stolen before we where old enough to have a say.
20:50 fine solid particles in a gas are considered smoke, no "technically it's dust" needed :)
thanks for talking to Marlin people . Hope it helps. I ordered a stainless one for my boy last year and had to send the first one back because the fit and finish was just horible. the second was much nicer btw.
The lever action and loading sounded a lot smoother on the JM model then on the newer one you tested earlier.
Great show. I bought one 12 years ago and still love love "plinking" with it. Glad I stumbled on to your video. New fan.
I have a mid-1950s 336-A in 30.30 that I absolutely adore.
Also gotta love the sound of big brass being ejected from a rifle bolt or lever. My 375 H&H sounds amazing when I pull the bolt on empty brass.
looks like a black chrome finish on the barrel.
I just started looking at 45-70 lever action a month ago and I've seen two articles in magazines, online, and now this video. I guess it's a sign.

great as always!!!!! maybe a few more close up the targets being shot please??
Oh Lord, had one in hand @ the defunct Gander Mountain in Palm Beach, Fl. & i sat on the fence. It just felt so right, too. Thank You, for another great one.
This is giving me flashbacks to Far Harbor.
the one in far harbor was pretty wimpy visually lol
aye, a properly loaded 45-70 could drop most anything that moves.
old reliable......mmmmmmmm
i crapped my pants when saw it in game since I have that exact marlin they used in the DLC. wayyy underpowered though for sure
Holy Moly, this rifle looks great, i love it! :)
This is one of my favorite rifles of all time. I love mine though it is an older "JM" model, I am happy to see that the quality has returned.

Picked up a 1895 45-70 cb 2020 model. Fit and finish is excellent. Added a safety delete with a brass follower. You have a awesome channel. Keep up the great work
How much damage did that do to the red plate? That is a beauty, and a lotta rifle!
It's AR500, so even .308, .30-06, 5.56, 8mm Mauser, etc. do very little damage to it. At 75 yards, which is a bit closer than recommended, they last about a year, generally, before I hammer them to death.

I use a paper wad behind the bullet to eliminate leading.
can you make a video of how you load them?
Well with a username like that I wouldn't take you seriously or answer you either. LMHO!!!!
I like this one hands down over the shiny one. Very nice! Good big game rifle.
