I would absolutely listen to all of these on a regular basis. Also, can we just talk about how much more unsettling Aimee’s tune was because of the teletubbies?!?
it actually freaked me out a lot more than i expected, its not the fact that its the teletubbies, its the teletubbies in a horror game but nothings changed
That Justice Cow track literally gives me goosebumps. It’s my new favorite thing. I wish it were on Spotify or something more accessible. I could listen to it for hours.
Ngl, I love Aimee's contribution. The beating effect and boosted harmonics are really cool with that wonky rhythm. It sounds like the intro track to an album I really want to exist.
This video sent me down a rabbit hole (because of Justice Cow's epic piece and the intense way it hurt me then hooked me) into the entire hyperpop genre, and it's been my new jam for weeks now and I have at least one new artist among my forever favorites because of it. Thanks for doing what you do, man, this video literally changed my entire music-listening landscape by dumping some wonderful new exciting stuff into it and I'm really grateful!
@@sai-pc5fl you can dislike it but you cant say the song sucks. The producing in the song is incredible and it makes the song slaps while still making the lydian scale sound ugly
Nice For me the challenge kinda failed tho lol, it's not ugly, it's just dissonant and weird, and that's fantastic. Aimee Nolte i feel succeeded however
@@osaze2708 Well yes and no ? I guess ? The context of the dissonance is what makes it ugly for me; like a lot of "jazz chords" have tension notes inside of them, but the way they're used doens't make them ugly (for me atleast). This is why for me Aimee Nolte did the best in the project because it is pretty much only dissonance, there's no sense of relief or anything. Like beauty pretty much only exist because dissonance does, if it is only dissonance then something is very wrong But after listening again a few times, Justice Cow is also very very close lol All of the songs were genius tho
bro i really love your piece. In the ending i actually hear how the music saying "bAass..... BAAAssss bAAZZZ". thank you for creating this such a beautifully ugliness
Thank you very much! I can't really listen the music with commentaries, they are such a distraction, I'm even raging a little bit. Great music, by the way!
*serious question* Can you repost with video only reaction cams of the rest of the collaborators? Like a little bubble in each corner of the other 4 listening. Because at 6:05 i *need* to see Justice Cow's reaction to that run! Thank you in advance. -music loving youtube viewers
What’s your opinion on short scale bass guitars? As someone with hypermobile finger deformities, I’m having a difficult time with 1FPF techniques and basslines 😭
I would honestly say try to find info online about playing simandl instead of 1fpf if you're having a hard time making the stretches you need to. Short scale basses can sound a little muddier on the low string just by virtue of being shorter. It's like the difference between the way the lowest note sounds on a 14ft grand piano vs how that lowest note sounds on an upright. The upright doesn't really sound as clear, it's difficult to pick out exactly which note is being played. The difference is not as pronounced between a normal bass and a short scale bass as between the different types of pianos, but it's the same effect. Another thing you could try is a multiscale bass to somewhat solve that problem of muddiness while also making some stretches easier. The problem with those is that they're much more expensive in my experience, until you get into the $1500+ range. The cheapest thing you can try is to come up with techniques that work for you as opposed to using techniques that other people have developed, but that takes a huge amount of time and effort.
0:00 - Shubh Saran (though clicking on the timestamp doesn't work)
1:22 - Justice Cow
2:46 - Aimee Nolte
4:19 - Music is Win
5:27 - IDK, some dude.
missed the opportunity to say the phrase "Uglydian" AGAIN
Im very disappointed

They all failed the challenge magnificently
@@HeinGodeke it would’ve been a boring challenge if they just played random notes from a scale that don’t work well together.
Nice
Aimee definitely wins. That shit was so eerie.
I agree
the challenge was to make lydian ugly not eerie, so while i do agree justice cow's take on lydian is the winner by far.
An underrated part of this epic: They all made MUSIC VIDEOS as well as awesome songs.

They are all genuinely awesome tunes in their own right with the exception of Aimee's disturbing composition
Awesome in its own right, just hard to listen to
Nice.
Justice Cow's submission tho 👀
It sucks

not only that, but music is win and shubh saran's takes are literally beautiful.

You can't leave us with just 6 minutes and 48 seconds... More of this please !!! Locrian, lydian, mixolydian, whatever...
damn, that bass tone adam was using was CRISP
With this, I have finally found a way to mix my two favorite modes together...lydian and locrian! Loving the tritonic vibes here!
good taste! what about altered and lydian dominant?
Shubh's performance reminds me of the half life 2 and half life alyx soundtracks, 2 of my favorites.
Justice Cow's song is terrifying, but it's also really cool. I loved it. But I'm also scared.
I really like the dark yet dreamy quality that Shubh Saran's take on uglydian has
"Quivering flanks, market tanks, don't call it necessary" that line really resonates with me
So glad I checked the description to find just the songs. Please make more of these modal composing vids.
