I'm sitting in a park in Washington State. I put out a small pile of pine nuts and I get to see them up close while they eat them I was watching your video when the mating calls and stuff happened they all went a little wild!
Interesting fact -- we have a pattern here in my backyard in Bay Area, CA. A common sparrow lays her eggs in these Junco's nests and lets the Junco's care for the sparrows babies. Its sad to see a big fat sparrow following the tiny Mommy Junco around for food. This has happened thrice in the last two years.
Wow. I know house sparrows occasionally take over Junco nests, but I didn't know they had parasite broods. Very interesting. Well, I hope the baby Juncos do okay.
@@battlefoxx I'm not an expert at these birds.. it maybe a cowbird or a finch as well doing this. Likely not a sparrow. Do cowbirds hang out in the Bay Area ??.
Great info! Thank you sooooo much!
Hey, that's really nice of you. These are great little birds to have around.

ahhh, how fun. thanks for watching.
Information packed!! Great video! 4:08
Glad you liked it!
They absolutely love crushed peanuts that you can put on your deck and then every morning they will wait for you 🥹
I love these little Junco guys. But, I don't like it when they fight themselves in the car sideview mirrors...happens a lot in the parking lots.
Loved the video! This year I have gotten into bird watching. There are a lot of juncos in my area :)
Great. Have fun. Learn one bird at a time in detail, then all the rest come really easy.
You are so much fun! Thank you : ))
ahh, thanks

@@venkateshnayak4430 i think a cowbird brood parasite is the more likely answer
@@venkateshnayak4430 in fact, cowbirds are not natural to SF and they have been taking over the wrens and yellowthroats
Anyone else pronounce their name like the month June-co?
