    Thanks for sharing this. I currently work in Bicester very near (what I think is called) the London Road level crossing and when this line opens for real it's going to interesting to see how it affects the down time of that crossing. I believe that Network Rail are looking at alternatives to reduce the impact on traffic flow but their options are limited due to space around the road/level crossing.

      Your right iit is the old London road level crossing there was talk of closure ore a bridge over the line as the barrier would spend more time down than up, there was a station on this line that delivered milk every morning. To queen victoria, sadly that station was bulldozed to make room for this line including the station masters house,

      No problem, and yes those barriers will be down for a lot longer when East West Rail service start up properly. It's an awkward location to provide a cost effective solution.

    Just think how useful this line could be when and if it gets to Cambridge for the east coast ports it would save the notorious trip round north London for any trains west of London brilliant video work,😊,

      I agree but there is even more that could be done throughout the route. The most obvious is the link from Aylesbury alongside HS2 running into Winslow. If they wanted to be really creative what about restoring the link line just outside Oxford parkway to the cotswold line near Yarnton? The bridge over the Oxford Canal still exists and would allow for a continuous route all the way to the Welsh boarder. It becomes even more compelling if the six mile link is restored at Honeybourne, via Long Marston for Stratford Upon Avon and Birmingham.

      Thank you. I try to record the best video possible using decent equipment and editing/grading software.

      @@charliea9910 I think we can't get too carried away due to the cost of restoring rail links - the fact such an obvious example as this has taken SO long to get built indicates how only the most beneficial of links are currently likely to happen.

      @@charliea9910 unfortunately the link between Stratford racecourse and Stratford station is now a link road and roundabout on the old trackbed, at long Marston there's an office block right across the trackbed,

    Excellent to see this up and running 👍 (part of). Would be great to get to connect the East and West without having to go through London.
    Will freight be able to use this from the Eastern ports such as Felixstowe to continue to the West Country and vice versa?

    • @MyRailwayVideos
      @MyRailwayVideos  3 дні тому

      I think freight will play an important part over the route, though it may take a bit of time to reach its full potential in that respect.

      @MyRailwayVideos  3 дні тому

      @@bryanduncan6178 Yup. Cost savings are key, even if they turn out to be a bit short sighted and cost more in the longer term. Big strides have taken place with battery/hybrid trains over recent years, so perhaps a tri-mode train (diesel, overhead electric, and battery) might offer a solution in the medium term, or fast-charge battery facilities at Milton Keynes/Bedford/Cambridge. The previous situation of 'it's either diesel or electric' has now been muddied with lots of other potential solutions. Though initially it will be a diesel operated railway.
