It's pretty poetic when there are companies like Mercedes Benz or BMW who have you pay six figures for their flagship models. They would tell you that having a screen is cheaper than using physical buttons and as a result, it makes things more clean a luxurious. The thing about that statement is that while it may be true that physical buttons and dials are more expensive to produce for a car interior than screens, the knowledge of knowing that companies like Mercedes Benz and BMW have essentially cheaped out by incorporating almost every single function in an automotive interior into one massive screen(s). Here we have Bugatti with the new Tourbillion and this absolutely gorgeous interior that will stand the test of time 50+ years from now. To put it bluntly, people are buying expensive cars, yet said interiors are cheap in the sense that these massive screens will date the interior after six months to a year has gone by along with the fact that the screens themselves are LITERALLY CHEAPER than having physical buttons, dials, and switches. A new fully loaded Mercedes-Maybach S680 is somehow both expensive AND cheap when you consider it's price being at around $234,000 US fully loaded, yet at the same time, it's cheap because of the giant screen being the cheaper way to go than having any buttons.
You have no idea how many features and options a Maybach has nowdays, it would be impossible even to fit 50% of the things it can do by buttons. On cars like those it's fine to have screen
@@caidee I'm well aware of that. But how often are some of these features actually being used? The thing is, Tourbillon is aimed for Concourses. BMW or Merc flagships are just designed for CEOs and not necessarily car enthusiasts. Remember, the only BMWs you will find at a concourse are the rare beauties like the batmobil, 507, z8, E24, M1. And similarly for Merc: the SL300, SLR, Merc-Maclaren, etc. which the typical BMW/ Merc customers are not even aware of! Basically, customers define the car trends, rather than the carmakers, unfortunately. If the ugly large-screened cars were repulsed by the targeted customers, these wouldn't sell. In such a case, the manufacturers would go back to the analogs. This is also why sedans and wagons are being replaced by SUVs, and a manual transmission is phasing out -- the majority of customers are simply not petrolheads (or EV head, either way, no passion for cars).
"Nothing dates a car, faster than its screen technology" Couldn't agree more. How I loved the dial cluster! It is industrial and organic at the same time. Yes it’s easy to just “draw” without doing math😂
Was waiting for this video ever since I first saw Rimac's interview on Top Gear! Thank you for this. Exemplary work by Bugatti!
Never liked the Veyron at all, never liked really much the Chiron, but this... This is really stunning: perfectly balanced in aggressiveness and elegance.
Great video! I love how you mention art deco and give reference buildings!
It’s absolutely gorgeous inside and out! 😍
So happy they haven’t lost it like BMW with most of their new models.
Feels like the Chiron only came out a couple years ago wtf.
You should take a look at the Grand Seiko Kodo (or really any skeleton watch movement) and then take a look at those gauges again. You'll see how reminiscent of a watch those gauges are down to the gears and jewels in the gauge cluster itself. I love it
This is the real spirit of Bugatti. New, but in same time, classical!
The whole vehicle - design, powertrain, materials etc. is a masterpiece. It’s a piece unique. The name Tourbillon is definitely most fitting. Bugatti is cookin! 🫡
Would like to see the 1800-1900kg wet weight
50kwh battery pack
2300hp from the same powertrain
We're entering a period of neoclassical cars, all eyes are on Koenigsegg now
Koenigsegg waste car😂😂😂😂
Who or what is Koenigsegg?
I have a funny feeling i saw the Tourbillon way before it was officially announced, but in some designer's page without the name it has now. Because i clearly remember the designs of the side view Very similar in look and proportions.
The Tourbillon’s steering wheel and gauge cluster is a nice little throwback to the 1970s Maserati Boomerang wheel + cluster concept ;)
If you know you know!
Beauty, I'm glad they still keep the idea close to the veyrons original design from Josef Kaban
Big respect to Rimac, only 36 year old amazing👏👏👏
hey bembli!
i was wondering if you'd take a look at the kimera K39
besides the design and the sound, it's still secretive
but it looks gorgeous, I'd love to see a video about it if you'll ever make one😅
steering wheel integration probably an inspiration from the Maserati Bomerang 1971 !!!
There's something in the front view that made remember the darth vader helmet!... now i can only imagine it in black with red and black interior!
all respect goes to Mate Rimac, what a fantastic and super smart guy!
Bugatti Just took pagani's crown when it comes craftsmanship and design
not even close, a facelifted chiron at the front, mclaren p1 at the back, awful steering wheel/paddle shifters, 8 years for this is hilarious. the speedometer is nice, but the ones on any pagani are much better
@@dddd-uk4vnyea i have to agree I'm not too sure about the steering wheel myself (lol not rich enough to understand I guess 😂) but when it comes to craftsmanship and design Pagani nails it everytime. Just looking at the Huayra/Utopia all around has this beat
@@dddd-uk4vn Oh man, you're in the vast minority who tend to spit on everything. This is not a good character trait that, fortunately, can be corrected with a little therapy.
@@ljuboizsiska5448 im not even hating original comment is the one that wanted to compare this to a pagani in terms of craftsmanship 🤣
the bugatti tourbillon is an okay car but not on par with any pagani in terms of artristry. theres nothing unique or interesting about the design that we havent seen before and for an 8 year wait its underwhelming apart from the engine
@@dddd-uk4vnyou know nothing about design. Just that instrument cluster alone beats any interior pagani has ever done. And I’ve been a Bugatti hater and Blind Pagani Fanboy till day before yesterday. Go watch carwow’s coverage of the tourbillion and maybe you’ll realise what a piece of art this is.
The front end makes me reminisce about the Mercedes L6500. To a small degree!!
Biggest diffuser/ venturi tunnels is the Aston Martin Valkyrie
Mate took a lot of inspiration from Aston for the Tourbillion. He even bought a Valkyrie for himself to study.
Valkyrie isn't even the fart !!
The Lotus Evija also has crazy Venturi tunnels as well.
I agree with your analysis of all the cars you review! Your normally spot on with design!
a modern front engine Bugatti would be priceless😍
I love how the gear change and speedo are like hands on a clock.
Thank you for this thorough, very fine presentation. You obviously fell in love with this marvel. Who wouldn't?
I feel like Honda is the only one going with the clean minimalist interior design in terms of economy cars. The new civic, accord and pilot all have the same flat interior.
Mate Rimac said the only reason they added the screen was because of the backup camera homologation rules in the united states. Which is why it can be stored away if you dont want to use it.
just love this - more style and less bling. And a collaboration with Cosworth on the engine front - even better!
CC850 has a phenomenally gorgeous interior..
There's still a few things about the looks i'm not 100% sure about. It still looks good, and that interior is amazing. I'm also not a fan of the steering wheel itself, but the rest of the interior is gorgeous
Im actually loving the new high-revving engines we are getting in new super/hypercars. Even in the upcoming Huracan replacement were getting a 10k rpm TTV8, which is awesome
Bugatti did it again!😎👌 Another Century, another timeless Design! A nice evolution from the Chiron with an even more emotional engine!🥰😍 A n/a V16 engine, revving to 9000 RPM and having 1000hp with a 1 meter long crankshaft! That's something special! Also I love the Design solution for dashboard and steering wheel! What a car!!!👌
This design draws from the 2015 Bugatti Atlantic - that is an even better design - if you can imagine that! You should do a video on that "secret" 2015 project. I think it would be greatly appreciated by your viewers.
I think this car is my favorite Bugatti, more than the Chiron even, maybe it is because im a watch fan, but all I know for sure is this will be an incredible new era for this incomparable brand.
