    Im a 9 handicap golfer, been struggling with an over the top swing with driver and long irons for years now. Tried this drill yesterday for about 2 hgours and started to "feel" the in to out path. Played today in a comp and although I only scored 34, I eliminated my fade.
    This is the best drill ever. Thanks very much.

    Hey Adam, just wanted to say a big thank you for this genius drill! I have pretty much tried everything under the sun to stop coming over the top but nothing has worked. In the end I learned to live with my slice. I play off 18 and manage to score under 80 now an again when Im putting well but deep down it is disheartening every time I see the ball slice to right and seeing just how much distance I am losing. This video came in my youtube feed and I became intrigued. I immediately grabbed a 9 iron and went to a local field to try it out. I was utterly shocked at how well it worked. I mean I was stunned! I just couldn't believe how straight I was hitting the ball and not only that it seemed to fly further with much less effort. This drill has transformed my swing and I will be using as part of my daily routine from now on. Huge thanks and respect to you Adam - Subscribed.

    Subscribed! Coming over the top has been my Achilles heel for so many years and watched many UA-cam videos but yours hit the nail. First, whipping the club too inside during backswing as you described (watching my own swing videos I have been doing this), second and the most worrisome to me is that I attack the ball too hard and forget letting the swing do its job. I am going to remember your drill of tossing the club out without looking at the ball and pre-cocking the wrist before backswing next time when I am in the practice range. Thanks coach!

    This new question is a very good one, I watch a lot of video and I don’t think I’ve seen this, but I want to know how to take my swing from the driving range to the golf course because I do really well at the range but not even close on the course. Thanks

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  5 років тому

      Sorry you are struggling. It's a question that puzzles just about every golfer.
      Naturally it's a bit easier to find consistency on the range that the course because we get so many more reps on the range (at least regards gaps between shots) that we can usually get our timing going. Of course we are usually more relaxed mentally on the range, less fear of consequences.
      The boring, but correct answer is 1) to continue to work on a sound golf swing. Simple, sound mechanics are much easier to repeat than complex swings that rely on timing to work well 2) quieting the mind....less conscious thinking while we swing, and less stress over outcomes.
      Hope this helps.
      Best, Adam

    Hi Adam, you are the best golf instructor, ever! ... Good or bad, I hold you personally responsible for me spending 6-12 hours every week, on the course. ... My handicap is now floating around 7-10, and you are the instructor who is responsible for me dropping from 36+ to 7-10... You have so many great lessons... As I improved, one of the many things that resonated with with me was: "Driver: you need to get that thing down there, and if you 'shorten-up' the course, believe me, the game will become a lot easier..." ... And then I worked on the irons, sand pits, and short game, and putting.... ... ... Thank you so much again, from Simon, and son Teo, at The Sands, in Torquay, Victoria, Australia! ... You are the best... We will meet you some day soon in Florida... 4 years away...

    Excellent swing thoughts and pendulum theory. It’s exactly what I struggle with. Thank you.
    Question: I feel as if I have more control of direction if I think my swing power comes from my left shoulder( lead), but it also throws off my sense of balance. In order to have a quiet mind, what besides for lots of practice do you focus on?

      Thanks, glad you like the videos.
      I don’t think the techniques are much different for a tall person, assuming the clubs are well fit. Likely you’d be more bent forward at address, but it’s still about trying to deliver the club to the ball according to its design.
      Generally, tall players have an advantage in creating speed, but more challenges with plane etc.

    The printing on the bottom of the video covers up the ball and whatever else is on the ground.

    My issue when not coming over the top is that the club face is too open

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  5 років тому +1

      Keith,
      In that case I'd experiment with grip changes, then just put your attention to snapping the face shut, regardless of what else happens.

      It’s a free country, watching my videos is not mandatory (although the channel has around 60 million views, so some people like the videos)
      No hard feelings, Adam
