Hehe yes bless him! I love having him in my vlogs, it seems odd when he’s not in them. Not long until the next video but the best one is the 3rd episode ☺️
Hi Victoria, I'm so happy to see your evolution and your achievements in photography/video, especially within the Fujifilm ecosystem! I look forward to the next videos so I can watch this new adventure with the Slovenian bears! Once again, I wish you all the best, always! Love from Portugal
Thank you for this very lovely comment! It was very touching to see you mention my evolution in photography/video, thank you for that. It’s a lovely thought that you have watched the growth ☺️ you will enjoy the next few videos coming up as I have a few from Slovenia 🙂 All the best and thank you for watching all the way from Portugal - a beautiful place too! ☺️🙏🏻
It's funny, I've lived in Slovenia my whole life and the thought of seeing and photographing brown bears has never really crossed my mind - but you have definitely inspired me to do so!❤
Aw really? Well I have to say, you live in a beautiful country - There is so much nature and loads of trees, it is truly beautiful and I was very sad to leave. It is also lovely that you have been inspired, you really should it is a wonderful experience ☺️
Indeed. Yes, there's plenty to explore - then you should absolutely visit Slovenia again in the future! 😊Yes, I will definitely have at it one day, thank you so much once again for your wondrous and "wandrous" contribution! 🐻
I have absolutely loved using it so far, both for filming and stills - the is a lot on the way 😄 and it’s great to hear you love yours, i’m sure it is beautiful for deer 🙂
Great video thanks. Showing me places that I will never get to so thanks for that. Don't you just love the FUJI system. I just got, well a few months ago that 200 F2 lens, and wow is that thing sharp. I also use the X-H2S. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! and it is lovely to bring folks along on the journey. I do completely love the Fuji system, been using it for 4 years now and it is amazing. I bet you adore using that lens all the time, it is fantastic! happy shooting 🙂☀️✌🏻
The little bits I have seen do make the bears look magical. Silly question but are they dangerous? I can’t get a sense of how big they are yet but I’m sure I will …
They are very magical! And to answer your questions, the brown bears in Europe (especially in Slovenia) are not aggressive to humans, they are actually quite timid. People that have been involved in an attack as usually because they startled or surprise a female with cubs. But when I was photographing these bears one of them jumped at the sound of a twig snapping in the woods, so they are timid. Also, I wasn’t sat in the open, I was in a secure hide, being silent for up to 6hours waiting for a bear to appear. And size wise, they are quite big! Around 150-300kg depending on the bear. I hope that helps 🙂
Amaaazing! Slovenia is also one of my bucket list destinations! Photographing brown bears has never crossed my mind though. Maybe, after seeing how this adventure of yours unfolds, that too will be added to my bucket list. Your photography bag looks heavy by the way. 😅 Looking forward to the next video! 😊
A top bit of words from me, make it the top of your bucket list. It is beautiful! If you love forests, mountains, nature and a quiet place, then Slovenia is for you. I really fell in love with it there. I think once you watch the series you’ll be booking a flight out ☺️ And yes my camera bag was super heavy - i take it on the plane as hand luggage and all I was thinking was “please don’t weigh my bag” 😄😄
All that yummy Tele glass 😍🤩 ... Now I only wish Bears were not so dangerous because they are so cute and I just want to hug them. Living in California that is a life long dream, so I'll stick to hugging big giant redwood/sequoia trees for now.
It is a beautiful tele and did not disappoint ☺️ Well the brown bears in Slovenia are quite timid and not aggressive to people (unless provoked or startled) but I can imagine that is very different for the bears in the US. And yes, hugging a giant redwood is not a bad alternative, quite a lovely one 🙂🙂
Great Vlog as always, I’m really looking forward to this, we’ve been looking at these guys. Just a silly question, you packed your backpack, but didn’t leave room for the 200mm, where’s that going to go, I’m looking forward to you using that as well, been looking at the used price, and I’m very tempted
Thank you very much! And lots of shots and footage on the way! And no such thing as a silly question, I actually re-jigged my bag after the video and the 200mm went in the top right section where the bean bag was, it fit perfectly there with the lens hood on. Well… the video won’t be good for you because the 200mm did sooo good! Especially in the low lit forests but you shall see in the next episode and the best images with the 200mm (in my opinion) are in the 3rd/4th episode 🙂
Really nice preparation video, Victoria! The images are perfect, as I have seen on Instagram! Did you use the teleconverter or not too much? These trips are rejuvenating the soul! I am glad you were able to experience photographing the brown bear! :)
Thank you! I am excited for the next episodes as they have the best shots - took me a couple of days to warm up 😅 and no I didn’t use the teleconverter much, 2 reasons, the first is I actually really liked the 200mm focal length it worked great! But also, when using the teleconverter the base aperture is f/2.8, so i didnt want to go up a stop and kept it at f2 🙂it was definitely a rejuvenating trip and definitely what I needed ☺️
Victoria, what picture profile You usually use for filming on Your Fujifilm cameras? I m curious cuz for example standard profile still seems a bit too flat for me.. I was using Canon before and I was just happy with standard picture profile straight out of camera! But on Fuji there is thousands options of tweaking those so…
For my filming I mainly shoot in f-log, I just prefer it for colour grading. If not I will use Eterna (i hope i’ve spelt that right). Yes there is so many options, I think that’s why I prefer f-log 🙂
@@wildandfreevictoria Thanks! I just started playing with X-S20.. had to sell Canon gear from some reasons.. probably will also try f-log cuz ready profiles or recepes not always match my liking… Greetings 👋🏻🤩
I had no idea there were so many subspecies of Brown bear. After I saw this video, I took the time to research it some: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subspecies_of_brown_bear . In the North Cascades, BC, and Alaska I am sometimes on the lookout when I hike because an accidental confrontation with a "Grizzly" doesn't always go well for the average "human". It will be interesting to see Brown Bears in Slovenia...and the environment you photograph them in...
Yes I didn’t realise either until I found out about brown bears in Europe a couple if years ago go. Fortunately enough the brown bears in Slovenia are quite timid and shy of humans - i don’t know what they are like in other parts of Europe. But I agree with you there, I would be terrified of crossing paths with a grizzly bear! 🐻
hi! Can't wait more! I'm so exciting about your energy, productivity and happiness. Please be safe in the wild fields! You need us!
Well there is lots of good stuff on the way, I have to say the whole week was fantastic! Hehe I am always safe don’t worry 🙂
2:15 Lil Erik!!!! Omg, what a cute lil bear he is! 😍
Hehe thank you! I had to add that sweet little bear in! He is too cute! ☺️
@@wildandfreevictoria Happy you did and amazing video as always Victoria! 😁
Looking forward and eager to see Your experience and some pictures with the 200!
Thank you! And there is loooooads on the way, the lens performed fantastic! I loved it! 🙂🙂
Love the atmospheric backing track.
Thank you ☺️
A great intro for the „series“, looking forward to the next part🙂
Aw thank you! There is a lot of good stuff on the way ☺️
Erik at 6:32 being a happy helper 🥹 I am so excited for the next installment. The teaser footage has been gorgeous!!

Yass and hello youu! There is lots of good stuff on the way, I think my favourite episode will be the 3rd one but they will all be good ☺️
@@wildandfreevictoria I will enjoy all parts 😉

This made me smile so much, thank you! 🙂

Well there is a lot of good stuff on the way so stay tuned! And yes it was super kind of them and i’ll be sad to send it back 😄
@@wildandfreevictoria I get it 🙂
You will love the 200. I use mine with the tc for deer in woodland and its just perfect.
