    I think the problem with gunships is not necessarily the gunships themselfes but all the other things next to them shooting at you and hindering you while you‘re trying to focus them

      It's definitely a pain when you get stuck in a bot drop cycle. I was in one myself not long ago.

      I hate how they target hell bombs. They should only target me. Other bots fine, sure, but let the gun ships only target me please.

      No, it's the gunships.
      There's only a handful of weapons that are good against them and most of those are call downs that can get stranded near the tower

    I love taking the Las cannon for gunships despite its drawbacks. I use it to become the dedicated AA squadmate, and only ever pull it out again to backstab a tank, hulk, or cannon turret. Its much more like an opportunistic utility tool then a dedicated weapon.

      It’s also great for surgically removing the arms and legs (and eyeslits) off hulks, the faces off of devastators and even the legs off of chicken walkers. I tend to pick it over the autocannon at the moment.
      (Yes the time to kill isn’t great but it can deal with most opponents if you can keep your aim steady and it can do so with functionally limitless ammo - I also run it with shields to provide some stagger resistance.)

      Pair it with a personal shield and you can easily do what I do, running it as your primary!

      The laser cannon also can kill factory striders from a distance. It's better than the autocannon in my books for sure. About even with anti-material rifle due to the devestator match up.

    I'll say that the laser cannon has been working really well for me on level 7, though I've also been fighting on a cold planet. It's got a really nice crowd clear aspect to it, if you sweep across a crowd at head level, and I've had pretty decent luck vs Hulks and tanks with it.

      It will definitely work in helldive. It can kill every target available. It is still the third best weapon. However, it's dwarfed by the effectiveness of the other two.

    Gunships are the one thing that make me hate using quasar. The cooldown on it means you're 100% gonna get a volley of rockets on your location. I would switch to the auto cannon or anti mat if I didn't want be able to take outposts out from a distance and run a jump pack

      I bring the AMR and the EA-Ts.
      Bot drop detected?
      Calling in EA-Ts.
      Coming up on a base?
      Calling in EA-Ts.
      Wanna save nades and need to blow up a fabricator?
      EA-Ts beacon through the door.
      Fabricator walker?
      Call in EA-Ts, pot shot face guns with AMR before delivery, grab the two rockets and try to disable the back cannon, run around a bit killing chaff and devastators while waiting on cooldown, call in more, save the team who are maining quasars and auto cannons, be a big damn hero.

    For bots I use the autocannon a lot. The stationary reload just means I get to really learn how cover works. There is a beauty to the minigame of putting solid objects between you and the enemy.

    I do have a counter point to the autocannon taking away a backpack slot, taking away that slot gives you additional stratagem slot that the backpack would take up. Its not for everyone but its a not a pure negative

      @JebblesJunior My go to loadout for bots atm is autocannon, shield generator, 500kg and airstrike. Gives me a versatile options for all scenarios. Speaking of the shield generator its a very option for dealing with gunships also, firstly as giving you a moment in time to clear the sky safely, and secondly, the dome protecting the hellbomb means that gunships cant kill it.

    My worst enemy ever is poor preparation and bad aim. Also I keep dropping my supports on the factories because I keep dying at them and trying to re-up AT the factory.
    This video helped me see why my current strategy and load out are bad, time to make some much needed changes. Thanks for the insight, Jebbs

    Gunships are easy until you have an annihilator tank deployed because the gunship passed your location along to the little guys at the base of the factory, broiling you in combat while a second gunship spawns and is able to blow you out of cover.

    4:10 I think the laser cannon's niche is against static objectives. Bunker, mortar, turrets... Along with teammates who are ammo-hungry and clear well. Free bullets aren't worth much if some ammo packs are left for you after the group's eaten their share.

    While its absolutely fair to prefer the AMR over the AC I don't feel like comparing the AC to a double stratagem combo is fair at all due to the opportunity cost especially considering that one of the three automaton operation modifiers reduces your stratagem slots to 3.
    Without the supply pack the AMR has ammo economy issues only holding 6+1 magazines with 7+1 bullets in them and resupplies only 1 mag per ammo box and 3 mags per supply brick (the ship module that gives full ammo is still bugged). 7 ammo per magazine without an extra round chambered from the previous one combined with a 4 shot breakpoint means you can't even kill both gunships without reloading.
    The AC on the other hand has 10+2 clips with 5 rounds each that kill gunships with only 2 shots and resupply for 2 clips per ammo box and 5 clips per supply brick so 20% more max ammo and between 17 to 35% more efficient resupplies on top of having up to 100% lower breakpoints against a few enemies.
    You lose out on extra stims but with the exception of lobbing impact grenades behind a tank to kill it from the front you can use the AC for everything you would need an impact grenade for and it lets you take stun grenades without sacrificing much of anything. (and you can kill tanks without a clear shot at its vents by shooting the side of their turret with the Scorcher or using the extra Eagle/Orbital that you can take thanks to the extra open stratagem slot, edit: or use impacts anyway but reserve them for tanks and use the AC for other stuff)
    Both weapons have their strengths and weaknesses but the autocannon is extremely efficient for its cost, so much so that Im afraid it might get nerfed.

      And for me personally the fact that the AC has a hipfire reticle and is very accurate with recoil reduction armor makes it very appealing because I really don't like losing my peripheral vision.

      Like I said, I definitely encourage others to use that one and make up their own mind on it. There's undoubtably a place for it in a lot of loadouts. I do see an uproar coming in the future when it inevitably gets tweaked.

    Usually run with scout passive med armour, amr, plasma punisher, senator, impacts, EA-Ts, orbital laser, and ems mortars.
    Can usually get around the map without too much issue, and can handle most everything. Hulks end up being about the worst part. And factory striders. Drone factories aren't too bad if the teammates aren't schmucks.

    My issue is that I dont always bring a weapon that can deal with them. I usually take other stratagems to fill the gaps but gunships dont really have anything other than support weapons that are effective against them. Autocannon turret I think can deal with them but they usually target ground enemies

      If you ping an enemy the Sentry will prioritise that target unless it is already shooting at something.
      So the second you see a ship, deploy a sentry and then quickly ping it

    I used to main the autocannon, and I loved it. Picked up the AMR during that daily order a while back, and I absolutely fell in love with it for bots. AC is still great! I just enjoy the AMR more these days.

    Any thoughts on the HMG now that is has a 3rd person reticle? The red dot is still off though.
    I'm trying to find alternatives to the AC and AMR.

      Edit: HMG + DCS/Diligence or AMR + burpgun. Just had a map with wide open spaces, and nothing that could take out Devastators at range. That was not good.

    Question out of the two new stratagems we're fighting for in this major order which do you think would be better? The anti tank mines or the airburst rocket launcher

      They both sound gimmicky.
      But having a mine field you don't gotta worry about stepping in might be nice.
      Don't think airburst is gonna be great for what's in the air.
      When are we getting that quad fly by wire launcher?

      They're both not that awesome to me if I'm being real. It's definitely the airburst though. It's not as situational as anti-tank mines and you don't need to lure targets into it.

    The laser cannon has been the go to Support Weapon for Bots for me. Unless I plan on playing close range with the Arc Thrower which is also strong now, the Laser cannon does what the Autocannon does but without a pack and has infinite ammo.
    The only drawback is it can't deal with mediums as well as the AC or Fabs.
    The cannon deals with Hulks (more easily than you think, just shoot their legs off which is super fast and ez eye hole shot) , Tanks, turrets and Gunships. It can also be used for the Devastators but the Dominator and Scorcher are better for that role.
    Now, if there is a Factory Strider... Yeah you're dead but that's why you have a dude who uses a Quasar.

    Thoughts on turrets? I often take the Autocannon turrets as distractions when playing solo and have found that setting them up on the slope opposite them to direct their fire is pretty good cover for both the bots in the base and is more accurate than I am to distract and drop the gunships. Just need it to be far enough to not get immediately rocketed into the ground by the gunships.

      I've seen mixed results. I think it's definitely more useful in solo play. If not for the damage at least it's a distraction.

    how do you feel EATs go against gunships? seems like they'd be pretty decent at the very least bc it calls down 2, so you can shoot both gunships that spawn and then blow up the facility afterwards

      I would say it's up to chance. If you get double gunship spawners the will outnumber you faster than you can get them back off cooldown showing up in groups of 4. If you manage to only get one and act quickly you'll be ok.

    On the ReShade front, I've been working on adapting an awesome nightvision preset with a toggleable ECOTI module with some folks.
    So far we've got sets for green, white, amber, red, and white filmless tubes.
    If you're interested I can get the files packed up for sharing.

    I use Spear + EAT combo for everything however I barely leave enough resupplies for my teammates. The positive is that I clear all gunships, Hulks and tanks for teammates.

    main thing i dislike about them are not the ships themselves... but how bad it is to play with the railgun when it comes to them. takes forever. so stupid how they nerfed it to the ground

      The railgun is in a very weird spot right now. You can one shot a hulk, but heat vent damage is pointless. It seems like it's become a very ineffective weapon against both striders and gunships. If they could tweak it so that it would maybe two shot strider miniguns and two or three shot gunship thrusters(Both in unsafe of course) that would be a fair change to me.

    Controversial take, Spear is actually really good at taking out Gunships. It one shots them and can track through the weird dodges the Gunship take. The only real downside is the slow reload and that can be mitigated with a buddy reload. Also I supposed you lack enough ammo if the first hellbomb gets taken out and you have to stick around longer than the initial assault.

    Funny enough, the method I have personally used would be shield generator relay. I find it fun to just run and throwing one near the gunship factory and putting a hellbomb inside of it has been my fun/ let me solo it approach.
    lately I don't use backpack slot to often because I prefer to run recoiless or autocannon.
    Edit, I was also one of the people who would use the scorcher to shootdown gunships, by aiming for the cockpit.

    7:10 my five second opinion is if it’s supposed to be NV, it’s gonna need a LOT of film grain. Like more than default Left4Dead film grain.

    Nah, laser cannon is fine vs bots. You need to take a good primary though.
    Laser only for hulks, tanks, turrets, gunships, striders.
    Primary needs to handle everything else to it's face.
    AMR is too strong vs bots, but weak vs striders.
    Team reload is strong vs gunships, and keeping double fabricators free of air craft.

      The AMR can take out both strider miniguns in one magazine. It kills striders with a mag or two in the belly which is defenseless without miniguns.

    I think the main complaint of the Autocannon you had is a very strange point to focus on, as your 'build videos' made me start running the Recoilless Rifle for dealing with the big bugs during Estanu runs. But, hey, opinions change all the time, stagnation breeds complacency, and complacency in spreaders of managed democracy is a fascist's wet dream.
    I definitely need to practice more with the AMR, I've gotten a bit too used to other weapons and my AMR game be lacking.

      It's a bit different as the categories of enemies aren't all that similar. Also I've rotated into the quasar for bugs recently for pack space, but it didn't really exist then. On one hand you need something heavy like an EAT or RR to handle the big bugs and primaries can take everything else. On the other hand with bots you can scale back quite a bit so long as you hit critical points.

    ITS GOOD AT DEALING WITH EVERYTHING BUT FABS AND DROPSHIPS
    you my good sir have a skill issue. it can consistently drop gunships, pop cannon turrets, tanks, hulks, and is good CC if you have nothing else. yea sure it has downsides, but it also has infinite ammo (when used right) and is an overall swiss army knife

      I never said it can't take out gunships, and if quickly breaking heat sinks is the claim to fame that's not good either. Like I said it's cool if laser pointers impress you, but it's mid because a myriad of things do it's job better.

      @@JebblesJunior it also depends on what you're pairing it with, i tend to really like it since it covers whatever job you need it to do. you're also a supply pack main- the lascannon totally misses out on all of its bonuses. i generally prefer the jump pack as it actually gives you more opportunities to use the lascannon effectively- retreating, flanking, longe range sniping, you name it.
      pair it with the eruptor and you straight up dont ever have to even get close to outposts or objectives to destroy them
