It's possible to run MC server on a PS3 using Linux. Asked a friend to try it and they gave up after like 20 minutes of the world not really generating. I think that was on a post 1.12 vanilla server JAR though so it makes sense. (that and 256MB of RAM probably haha) Great femboy computing post!
In 2011 I ran Minecraft servers (yes plural, and concurrently) on an Athlon XP machine, as well as an IIS web server and dynmap, because other than my main that's all I had. And yeah it also worked well with a handful of people online.
My grandparents had a very similar model that used some AMD processor. Somehow we kept using it for well over 10 years because they didn't want to upgrade.
correction the "Memory usage" graph in the windows xp task manager shows the Page File usage and not the full memory usage. (Thats why it says 'PF usage')
In all seriousness as much as you may be similar to Druaga1, considering he doesn’t seem to want to make videos atm. It’s great to see someone like you so dedicated to make a tribute to him and make videos in his style. #youareawesome #keepupthegoodwork!
oh, about it carrying over the screen resolution, I've noticed that if I have a monitor connected to the server it displays the resolution of that monitor in neofetch
This video is fantastic, I actually tried this with my Pentium 4 and it worked well, for an hour at least, before the entire room was HOT and just smelled like old PC
Ah the giant red frametime graph, I remember it well from playing Minecraft on my beloved HP NX6110 which was saved from a recylcing center after being retired from a school... Strange, I was happier then playing the dropper on tiny render distance at 15fps :D
@@AlejandroRodolfoMendez yeah, but it does need a new gpu, but whatever gpu or pci(e) device i put in it, it just doesnt recognize it, when inserting a gpu on the pcie port, it just black screen (the gpu was a HD8490) so upgrading gpu is a no-go. EDIT: black screen on both onboard gpu and external gpu
holy shit! this was like the last video we watched before falling deep into dissociation for over a year. pretty sure our sponsor thing is still on auto renew and you deserve it ❤
Just curious, you said that it uses 50MB during idle, but technically it was also running neofetch, wich also uses some resources. Does it automatically calculate itself out of the used ram, or is the system using even less then 50MB?
if it calculated itself out it would be a lie that could cause issues because some people would attempt on running something with the rest unused memory or cpu left, which would lead to crashes.
@@SectorfiveYT you sure? I would argue that it is in fact not a lie because neofetch is only supposed to run for a split second. Human brain probably needs 200ms to recognize the ram usage, so by the time you see it it is accurate. But your propably right because it’s linux, and everything that is not technically true is a lie. (Kind of sounds negativ but I don’t mean it that way, I really like it this way because you know what you get when running a peace of software aka it’s really predictable) It also would not necessarily lead to a crash as there is the swap partition (if you have one) and by the time you enter another prompt neofetch already exited and the ram is no longer used. A fully used cpu also does not crash a system.
Man I love this videos! Although I always wonder how do you make homemade public servers safe? I know I *could* set up the server as de dmz of the router, but I don't feel like that's a good idea for something public. Do you use a dns or something? I'm (still) not good with networks...
