I've always find it unusual when some Manila residents get the biggest cars, the biggest house, etc, when there's no space for them. I hope you can influence more Filipinos to think small is also good. Japan is actually a good model for Pinas to think in terms of space-saving for their environment in every way. I see it happening in some condos but it has to extend to probinsyas.

because that's the common Filipino mentality. you need to prove your wealth and success through huge houses, large cars, etc. even the Filipino celebrities do it on a common basis

Not just Manila. It happens in Mindanao, too. People love their annoying Fortuners or worse, those braindead first time buyers that go for Ford

Because 2 generations ago, it was normal to have 5 to 8 children unlike Japan and you know the outcome for the latter. A study is found that incest is common among families who do no to have ample privacy between its members so while it is practical and environment friendly, small spaces are not for everyone. It is also normal for people to flaunt their wealth after rising from poverty - maybe it is tasteless but for them, it is show and tell of how far they have come.
Personally, I love these solutions as I imagine me and my husband living small in our retirement while having the rest of the land converted into a garden.

When you think about all the things they're hoarding (I guess as resource for anything they may need), of course they want big places. We have a large amount of people in smaller areas of the city and that's why it's tight.

Ito yung small house na functional lahat, ang initial reaction ko nung nakita ko yung nook is baka mangalay yung paa pagmatagal na naka indian sit, then may space pala para sa paa. Pinagisipan talaga. Favorite spaces ko are the patio and bathroom.

This is amazing! Careful lang sa pagbili ng shipping containers. Some of these containers are used once lang for a very good reason. Some are toxic and some are even radioactive. We might say, we'll ask muna before we buy. Well, usually contents of shipping containers are private and not shared to regular people, not just for security purposes but mainly to protect the privacy of the company who used it. Privacy of their products' specifications.

I rented a container house for 2 months and here’s what I can say based on my experience. I was thinking of building a tiny house at the province because it is low maintenance and affordable. I have seen some people living tiny and loving it. So I rented one to help me decide if I should go for it. Turns out, it was terribly hot 🥵 during the day. It absorbs the heat from the outside so even the air conditioning was struggling to keep the room cool. But it’s a bit cool at night.. the scorching heat starts at 8am until 4:30pm which is not a good idea if you work from home or just wanted to lounge. I ended up with headache everyday and lost weight from sweating which is great but living in a container gives a feeling of being stuck in a sauna. It definitely changed my mind.

proper insulation with the right materials is the key. lagyan mo pa ng wood or slat wood para matakpan yung sa labas ng container. Mas mapapagastos ka nga lang kasi mas madaming materials ang kakailanganin mong bilhin so in the end parang nagbuild ka lang din ng finish concrete house.

shipping containers are controversial not only in architecture but in sustainable development as well. plus the additional cost to make it livable (doors, windows, insulation, etc.) on top of the price of the shipping container can run at par with conventional building methods, assuming that you won't encounter additional expenses due to inexperienced contactors destroying your shipping container.

    • @krystlemartin533

Agree if only the steel frame similar to container vans are accessible and cheap. I've also looked at LGS as possible alternative. Although developers claim that LGS frames can withstand wind up to 120-150Kph, I know our typhoons can be so much worse than that.

    • @malaya8072

Good foresight on renting before jumping on the bandwagon. I'm thinking of building small but not using a container (heat absorption of metal) while converting the rest of the land into a garden.

    • @Imrozelle
      @Imrozelle 2 роки тому +1

In the past, I also thought using container was genius basically as a foundation for a tiny house. But the more I watched builds, the more I realized just insulating them and the delivery will cost just as much as actually using traditional build resources, like cement or wood, if not, cost even less. Using resource like bamboo is also more sustainable.

35k to 40k per square meter for this quality and detail; reinforced concrete structure, glass and aluminum windows, steel truss and G.I. roofing, ceramic or porcelain tile wall and floor finish. Pwedeng mapababa if magso-source ng alternative materials.
Edit: Gumamit siya ng shipping container. Medyo mahal ang delivery at handling po noon. And additional heat at sound insulation is a must.

It's interesting to see how many brutalist buildings there are in the country, and also how some dilapidated buildings if cleaned up and refurbished would resemble something like what you'd see in 80's Miami (idk what architectural style that is though).

you can save 60k-100k + shipping by taking away the container itself sa design. nagdoble2 ka na ng cladding at roofing.

So bilang isa sa mitikolosong tao tulad ko, if u need power sustainable. U need 2 to 4 solar power supply. Na nag kakahalaga ng 100k kada isa, so if ang bahay mo worth 200k ksma shipping cost, + 300k sa labor cost, + 400k sa sustainable power. It might range more than 900-1 Million pesos, bakit nga ba apat na solar power generator need mo? Bakit, wla kabang balak pag pahingahin yung batch 1 ?
