It was 1954, I was a 12 year old white boy living in Detroit, listening to one of the two local black radio stations when I first heard B.B. King. I have been a fan ever since of B.B. and the Blues, and the Blues men of the 40's and 50's and the rebirth in the 60's when the British Invasion brought the blues and the bluesmen back to life.
i greW UP listening to jazz and rb boy did i miss out on something very special, iam now 63 years old. Mr. King has turned me straight out. Bless you Mr. King,Truly one of the BlackWonders of the World!
Saw BB at the Hook and Ladder Club in Toronto , It was dinner and a concert , I was really pissed on how much the meal was , this was back in 1976 , Then BB and his band hit the stage , I really did not know who he was . The blues have been a part of my life ever since , he came to every table and shook our hands , he signed his picture , which I still have today . I would have paid double for that night , also I married my date from that night , been married for 43 years this September - RIP BB and Thanks
I know: a lot of people didn’t liked his playing/singing at his last years. But this performance… you just have to pay respect to the King🤷🏼♂️ He was about 80 at this concert and played/sang his heart out. Outstanding. Never saw such a performance from him at his later years again. That was a special night. You can tell. Man I just love every second of it🙌🏻
This is literally my all time favorite performance by him! Makes me tear up every time. I saw him twice in 1998, & as an aspiring musician at the time I told myself, "THIS is what aging gracefully looks like." I'll love this man & this particular performance, until the day I die. ❤️🔥
I know some of yall are new and get your music cheap and fast like a TV dinner but what you gotta do is slow down and pay attention to what is happening here and remember that music is supposed to take expression and language and transfigurate it in the ether so that it says everything that each individual needs to hear. I say listen up....he is saying something that you need to hear. Do you hear that? Ok good, we might get to that promised land after all. I know he did....
This IS the greatest version of "Sweet Sixteen", EVER! I want to learn how to do the falsetto so I can sing this, & Freddie King's "Have You Ever Loved A Woman".
I'm 18 living in Brazil in 1988 and hear this wonderful man playing on the news, had never heard of Blues ever before, nor did I speak any English. I picked up the guitar then and enjoy playing blues to this day, now over 50 in the UK, I pay my respects here to you King ;-). RIP
I was lucky enough to see B.B. King perform live at a Doheny Beach Blues & Jazz festival back in 2009 (if memory serves). I remember him coming to the stage in an all leather American flag jacket and he was incredible! Etta James once said that this song was written about her, though it’s hard to confirm. Thank you for sharing this! B.B. King was one of a kind. Even Elvis Presley loved him. 🌹
Does my heart good to see all these beautiful comments to the MAN who defined and championed the blues the last half of the 20th century and became the elder statesman in the 21st, RIP sir.
You are Missed very much B..... Thank you for all the great music... Live @ Cook County Jail, 1st Blues record I ever bought. I was hooked then @ 16 and still diggin it @ 59. Thanks to ALL the Blues men then and now. Keep it alive.
Este homem foi direto p céu, pq n sei se vcs sabem, mas o estilo predileto de Deus e o Blues que tem 5 letras que o nome do filho dele Jesus rima com Blues!
On Saturday nights my old man would be in the back bedroom with his old LPs. I would try to go pass by the room without being notice because I was just not interested. Now I miss both the music and I miss him so very much. Thanks
There's something about this particular version that gives me goosebumps every time.. I saw him live 5 or 6 times and I can tell this isn't your average performance for 2005. It's like he turns the clock back to 1974 and just channels the song.. The band got the arrangement of the Sonny Freeman, Bobby Forte band down too.. that helps… Miss ya B.
One thing that's ALWAYS struck me is, how soft spoken he is. But then, when he starts singing?! My ENTIRE SOUL goes, "WTF?!" and "WHERE T F is that coming from?!" The absolute PERFECT bluesman! GOD, I miss him.
In 1973 I celebrated my Sweet Sixteen Birthday in Indianola, Mississippi @ Mr. B. B. King blues club called Club Ebony on Church Street. Indianola, Mississippi is my mom's hometown, that's way Mr. B. B. King is buried. There is a B.B. King Museum there. 🎼🎵🎶♩🎤🎸🎹🎷🎺🎻😀😀😀💞 Rest In Power Mr. B.B. King 👑😇💞
A true legend. We will never forget you brother. I'm helping to keep your memorie and music alive every day. You will live on with us and in our music. Long live the king
B.B. was my hero. I had the opportunity to meet him after a show-I was speechless, literally! I was so excited when I tried to speak, nothing came out.LOL I did get some great pics!
I'm 38 years old. I grew up listening to great artists like BB King, Bobby Blue Bland and Johnny Taylor because my grandmama loved the blues and now so do I! Amazing music!
Technology can never take over the true musician and his instrument with the raw talent and richness that makes you tingle that these true blues artists have like this man and many others, like him .The king or one of a few . Missed greatly! Thanks for giving me my memories.
And this, ladies and gentlemen is how you sing the blues.BB puts more soul in one note than most people have in their whole bodies. What an inspiration you are!
i'm a big fan of Mr B.B King, From the plantation to the king of blues !! a real big success story ! that's why i always say : he is a wonder, a king and a legend in every single word ! R.I.P
The King Of Blues, Sir Mr. BB King, transported me to the sweet heavenly realms with his spirited soulful unique voice and the splendid maverick 🎸 guitarist. That band is also phenomenal. Rest in Peace Dr. BB 👑 King.
Saw him at Albert Hall in the mid sixties he broke a string and told a little story about his guitar Lucille while he was putting a new one on. King of the blues.
We played BB's songs in the 60's and he was a giant to us. I was a keyboard player and we played the blues. Nobody did the blues better than BB King.

I'm speechless! Real talent!
If your body DON'T go Numb after listening to this man's Greatness, you will never appreciate BLUES!!!
How can anyone give this a thumbs down. Listening to this in June of 2020 this man is a legend!
Only dicks with not a clue about music will give this a thumbs down.
i think they had the phone upside down
i agree
John Morin...The "thumb downers" have no reason to be on this planet!!! And should not be listening to REAL BLUES stuff!!
probably a vegan carbon0 gender neutral feminist

I loved this. He was so old he had to sit down. It’s not exactly like the studio recording. Makes it even better.
@@ghillieflower This is WAY better than the studio version!

To the young guitarists : B.B. King isn't using a row of pedals or computer interface . Guitar and Amp and 100 tons of Talent . 🎼🎼🎼⚜️🎸☮️🇺🇸🏄🌠

RIP to the greatest Blues Legend of all time.
This is what the world is lacking there ain't real musicians like this anymore
I saw him Live 4 times. He was always good but when he was still standing - he was a force of nature
I love he still did the falsetto's at age 80, my favourite part of any of his songs. This song has to be one of his greatest. Nice rendition 👌🏻
This IS the greatest version of "Sweet Sixteen", EVER! I want to learn how to do the falsetto so I can sing this, & Freddie King's "Have You Ever Loved A Woman".
Some people sing the blues. Some people play the blues. B.B. is the blues.

That was exactly my thought!! He seemed so surprised by the band and even sang in his falsetto. Something he never did since the 90s
Absolutely I found this version is exceptional good as well. Bb was at his best that night!
