Bought mine with serrated spine back in 1988 while serving in Alaska, Cost then was $55 and have literally used it for 34yrs without fail. Best Knife I've ever owned including my K-Bars.

I used mine back in 2006 to cut up around 10 ton of trees and cart them to the footpath for council collection after cyclone Larry devastated our area.
Half my yard was covered in fallen trees and I had no chainsaw etc and no help so it was BMF time, and boy did I have fun slicing and dicing and after 4 hours the BMF was still going strong.
Several years later I sold my beloved knife due to financial difficulties and I've missed it ever since. If anyone out there has the same model as in this video, check the bottom end of the guard and if you see a small engraved RW you will know that's my old knife and it's a hard full on worker. LOVE IT! It will look after you. 🥲

Sorry to say they don’t make it anymore. But that being said. Private sales are still available. Can’t see anyone wanting to sell it once they use it. Only way i could see it happening is through an estate sale. Price tag worth it for me. Paid just shy of $300. Worth it!!

Had one in the late 80's. Hoss of a knife.

I have one that I purchased in the mid 1980s from the Cutlery Shop. The one downside is that there seems to be a corrosion issue when the knife is stored in the sheath for an extended time, even when the blade has been oiled before storing. I now treat the knife with a coating of Break Free and cover the blade with waxed paper before storing in the sheath. It's a good idea to replenish the Break Free and change the waxed paper from time to time if the knife goes unused for a few months at a time. The ultimate answer is to get a new sheath made that won't stain the blade. The knife is strong and keeps a sharp edge. It's a keeper!

I got sick and haven’t had the opportunity to use the knife in years with no issues of corrosion . I am a hunter so i used to oil and store my rifles and they would rust. I learned that the oil was the reason for this. I did some research and the oil attracts moisture and the impurities in the oil as well cause an issue. Even in a vehicle. If you change your oil and store your vehicle a couple years it is recommended changing the oil again b4 any major use.
That being said, I stopped oils on any metal. Instead I clean it as best i can b4 storing. Haven’t had a rust issue in years with no use and being stored in a gun locker. I do have a bag of silicone beads in the locker to attract moisture so that helps as well. Just some tips that may help.

I’m actually purchasing one so this helps a lot to see it in the flesh! Or the steel so to speak lol. Thank you.

Sweet I thought by now I was one of the only guys that had one. I got mine in 1983. It’s in pristine condition. Mine has the saw back. Only problem is it is a monster of a knife.

It is a monster agreed. So handy when in the bush when you have forgotten your hatchet. :-)

Believe it or not. I just purchased a mint condition serrated blade version for a tiny amount of money from a thrift shop. I didn't have a box but who am I to complain.

How do you recommend something that hasn't been made for more than two decades??? lol. Can you get a hold of one? sure but it's $$$-$$$$ even in used condition. Collector's item.

My apologies. I did not know they were discontinued. I guess when you own one you stop looking to get one. Shame they did cause it is still my favourite knife when I’m in the woods. Highly recommended if you can find one. Retailed at $270 when i got mine.

I recommend getting one regardless of the $$$, they continue to go up in value and still the best heavy duty survival knife made.
