Of all the “How to make a Kabar” videos I’ve seen, yours is the best my man. I like that you made the tang a little wider than usual, it should be good and robust. I’d carry that knife on my belt any day of the week. Excellent work!
Oh my friend, I am very happy to read such a comment. Thank you so much, I'm glad to hear that you liked my version of Kabar. A big hug for you. 👍👍👍
Beautiful work.
@@operationsbrunei7902 Thanks my friend 👍👍👍
Cool .. Ka-bar has always been my favourite knife ... So iconic , simple and reliable !!
Thank you so much my friend 👍👍👍
Awesome job remarkable craftsmanship the only thing I would have loved to have seen is a leather stacked handle cuz that's what the original ones had but overall great job
Thank you my friend. Yes, without a doubt with leather it looks much better. But where I live it's hard to find leather, I'm looking for future projects. Hugs. 👍👍👍
@@MakerHA well if you go to k-bars website you can buy a rehandling kit and make your own blade they sell those for only $20 they're normally used when you want to rehandle an old Ka-Bar but knowing your skills you can make your own blade using an actual Ka-Bar kit handle
@@tristanbarnett6271 I understand, that would be a good one, these kits help a lot.
@@MakerHA well all you'd have to do is go on ka bars website and they should have them available I would love to see that LOL
@@tristanbarnett6271 Ok, I'll take a look. 👍👍👍
Excellent workmanship. A knife to be proud to carry.
Thank you so much my friend 👍👍👍
Now thats what i call👍👍knife my friend thats lvly job sir dont wori that people juge your work your last mistake is your best teacher bro👍👍🛸
Thank you very much Darren 👍👍👍
Such a grand effort with beautiful results! And most glad you didn’t opt for the stacked leather handle! Something different always catches me eye! Well done chief!
Thank you my friend. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, I was out of leather, so I opted for wood. 👍👍👍
I love how this turned out! Its a work of art!
Thank you very much my friend 👍👍👍
Un Artesano increíble !!! Excelente !!!
Muchas gracias mi amigo 👍👍👍
Very nice!!! some great ideas , k-bar is one of my favorites knives.
Thank you my friend. Yes she really is one of the nicest. 👍👍👍
I like yours better than the current stock offerings, you got a better tang on there. Piece of advice though - the originals did not have that slight backward sweep on the cross guard and it’s actually awful when you have to use the tool aggressively.
Thank you my friend. I understood 👍👍👍
Классный нож получился! Но я, для бльшей надежности, посадил бы рукоять на эпоксидный клей. У тебя золотые руки дружище!
Спасибо, мой друг. Да оклейка была бы намного прочнее, согласен с вами. 👍👍👍
Love how you made the pommel. Will use this in the future. Great looking knife.
Thank you my friend. As I don't have a lathe to make it right, I had to improvise that way, it ended up working, you can do it, it's a success. Hugs. 👍👍👍
can you tell me in details what processes you made after the bluing process
I just sanded it with 1200 grit sandpaper and made the handle 👍👍👍
@@MakerHA can you also tell me in details what did you do from this time 9:49 to this 10:21, and for what purpose.
and thank you for your time.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yes, I can, so I dipped the blade in iron perchloride, it is normally used to develop Damascus steel, but I like to use it to dye the blade and give a small layer of protection against rust. The first liquid is iron perchloride in which I leave the blade submerged for about 5 minutes, then I have to neutralize the acid with a basic solution, which I use water with baking soda, then I just use fine sandpaper to mark the knife lines.@@rafik8229
thanks a lot@@MakerHA

Ficou muito bonita, realmente uma obra de arte!

genius way of doing the fuller. Did you have a way of measuring the depth, or just eyeball it? Great looking blade!
Thank you my friend. It was just in the eye 👍👍👍
Beautiful knife. Miss the stacked leather though.
Thanks my friend 👍👍👍
Great video, awesome outcome. I would have placed a stacked leather handle, but I love ir anyway.
Thanks my friend 👍👍👍
Lindo esse vídeo dessa faca KA-BAR 👍 gostei muito do trabalho.
Muito obrigado meu amigo Elias 👍👍👍 Abraços.
Does look really nice but was it made from two pieces of metal welded together ? At the beginning the blank looked like it had a scarf weld in the middle of it ? Don’t think I’d trust that .
Thank you my friend. No, she was not a soldier. This is a whole knife, no part I had to solder. 👍👍👍
It’s that kind of steel that they used to make the knife I have though about buying one of those but they are not a long as i would like they made them shorter for military purposes and yet durability and so because of that looks amazing ❤just like what I would hope for in my future knives
👍👍👍
Trabalho fantástico! Parabéns!
Muito obrigado meu amigo 👍👍👍
Good looking Ka-Bar you made there!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up as a support
Thank you so much as always my friend helping, thank you. 👍👍👍
I was gonna use an angle grinder for the fuller, after watching this video I'm gonna do what you did😮
Yes, I find it easier 👍👍👍
Great looking knife. I like the pin in the pommel. The only thing I would have done different is flipped the hand guard. Having the curves go towards your hand may create some hot spots. Overall sir, great looking blade.
Hand-Schutz umzudrehen entspricht aber den Vorbild nicht. Tolle Arbeit.👍👍
Thank you so much my friend, I'm glad you liked it. Well, I followed the typical knife model, but those curves towards the hand are always a door to getting hurt. 👍👍👍
@@Miki59 Ja, das würde über das Messermodell hinausgehen. 👍👍👍
Good looking clone!!🤌🏿
Thanks 👍👍👍
Beautiful knife!
Thanks my friend 👍👍👍
I like the handle, very good looking.

>Blank is just mild steel welded. Twice. Every single part of blade is not streight. Not even a single streight line.

Brilliant video great work. I wanted to ask what the attachment is to make the blood groove at around 4 mins? Thanking you in advance
Thank you very much. I do it with die grinding stones, it works very well 👍👍👍
@@MakerHA fantastic thank you very much.
You can get the ones designed for use in Dremels at most larger hardware suppliers. Will fit most die grinders, drill presses etc. not really suitable for a drill, though, as they don’t rotate fast enough.
I like the K Bar inspired job..well done mate despite what the knockers might say. A shallow counter sunk to set the peen into would leave nicer finish on the pummel??🇦🇺🙋♂️🇦🇺
Yes it might be better 👍👍👍
I thought you did acid etching when you have multiple steels to show them. That’s the first time I’ve seen it with just one. Is that to just change the color a bit? Thanks
As this solution does not have much loss of the solution itself, you can do it one at a time, as long as it is stored in a closed container. It is not only used for color change, but for surface treatment, and it protects the blade against corrosion. That is, you create a thin layer and prevent corrosion, it is not 100% effective but it helps a lot. It is also very used for revealing damascus steel, which you have different materials that will present different color. 👍👍👍
@@MakerHA gotcha. Thanks

Very nice just like an original, great job mate..
Thank you so much my friend 👍👍👍
Good job sir.
I want to know something
What do you use to sharpen the knife? I mean what is the liquid
Sorry sir my english not good enough
Hello my friend, the liquid I use is iron perchloride, it is an acid, ie you need to neutralize it afterwards with a solution of water with sodium bicarbonate. 👍👍👍
That looks really good
Thanks my friend 👍👍👍
I think you might have actually managed to perfect the Ka-Bar with that tang and handle!
Thanks my friend 👍👍👍
Уважение мастеру!
Спасибо, мой друг 👍👍👍
what drill use for lines and what is size of metal which you marked how did you know what drill to use?
I have the measure of the width of the blade, just take a drill with the same measure, that when you scratch on both sides that the line is in the center. If you don't have anything to measure the blade, you take a drill similar to the width of the blade, measure it in the eye, that when you scratch both sides it gives you the right center. 👍👍👍

That KA-BAR design is one of the best there is. What a great job you did ! I heard, though I've never seen one, that the Israeli military issued a very close copy of a KA-BAR that did have a wooden handle instead of leather.
Thank you my friend. I didn't know that, that they had already made a ka-bar with a wooden handle, many do not understand that it is a copy, and the reason for using it in wood, but not every place is easily accessible to leather. 👍👍👍
@@MakerHA Thanks for getting back! It would be interesting to see how they made their wooden handles in Israel, and what kind of pommel they have. If I can discover that knife, I'll further that information on to you.
@@williamgunnarsson You're welcome, my friend. Yes, let me know yes I'll be happy to know. a big hug.
@@MakerHA I've tried to locate something on the internet about the Israeli wooden-handled knife. No luck so far, but there is a similar knife made in Sheffield, England for Israel, but with leather handles. Still looking. I'm becoming more and more interested in finding out about that particular knife myself.
@@williamgunnarsson Yes, you also made me curious about this knife, if I find something I really want to see it
very impressive
Thanks my friend 👍👍👍
Where do you get a stencil like that? I'm playing around with Photoshop editor and I can't figure out how to get the proportions right?
Normally I place the image in a size on the computer screen that I think will look cool and with a pen and paper I go over it. If you have doubts about the size of the knife, look for where it is sold and the description will have its measurements. You save a photo and enlarge it on the computer until you reach the size 👍👍👍
