Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? It's all one fell swoop... Not two separate incidents. We will have to endure the tribulation; just not for as long as the unbelievers and the fallen away. Some of us will even lose our heads. *_Then_* *The Day of The Lord* (AKA: "rapture") happens, and with one breath, Jesus destroys those who opposed him and this Earth as we know it passes away, and His new kingdom is settled.
The BRIDE OF Christ will NOT go through the tribulation, The church is not mentioned during the tribulation. When Jesus returns we will be with Him (Bride). The 144,000 is what you seem to be referencing, there will be tribulation saints that refuse the mark of the beast that will be killed but the Church (Believers) will have been raptured already. The Day of the Lord is the return of Christ when He defeats Satan at the battle of Armageddon.
He likes reading NKJ but he does compare it sometimes to NIV but I think he only does that since it must be the bible version they keep for visitors at the Church that didn't bring a bible.
