This was my absolute favorite vlog of yours. I loved seeing how you work to balance motherhood, self care, work & all the things. Your calming aesthetic and honest reflections are everything 💞 Congrats to Michael! Such an exciting time for your family!
I think these videos are the perfect mixture of teaching and motherhood combined. And how to balance both. Definitely love this! Thanks for showing the hardships of teaching.
💕Thank you for your transparency. This teaching year is draining me. I feel you! I can also relate to being an introvert. I have to force myself sometimes to go to my community group at my church too. I love going but it feels really hard sometimes to make myself socialize when I’m on empty🤪. But my cup fills when I’m with my Christian friends and I love diving deeper into our Sunday messages from church. You are doing a really good job at balancing your work and home life. Thank you for sharing!
💗as a teacher and a mom it brought tears to my eyes to hear your pep talk…bc I love teaching but sometimes am so drained…I want to make a difference but what you said about fixing trauma really resonated. Thank you for that 💗
💕Love your heart to heart towards the end. It was VERY needed. My heart needed that❤. I work with at-risk kids so my classroom is a minefield of triggers, trauma, and behavior that shows they’ve been through so much in their little lives. I’m going to write the reminder “don’t let their behavior steal your joy” on my office white board tomorrow.
💕 brings back memories of teaching with a child. I was blessed that my parents kept mine so never worried about her and you are blessed with grandparents keeping Jordan. I had to be at school by 7:45 so was there by 7:30 but only lived maybe 10 minutes away and was home by 3:30. Teaching was not as stressful in those days… my child is 35! Congratulations to Michael! As always, enjoyed this video. You are doing a great job as a mom, wife and teacher! Don’t ever let the devil convince you otherwise. So glad you share your faith!
one of my favorite videos you've made ❤️ i know there will be so many times in the future that i will go back to your talk about not giving away your joy for a job/uncontrollable behavior. it's so important for teachers to hear. i love how you care so much about your students but still have a balanced life. you're literally the only teacher "influencer" i enjoy watching because you don't make me feel guilty for not thinking about my career 24/7 and having other priorities/passions. also congrats michael!! all your hard work is going to pay off!! :)
I loved seeing a whole week in your life.💕 I am a mom to 2, and I’m in school to become an art teacher. I totally relate to the burnout. Whether I’m home all day with my kids, have a full day of classes, or am subbing in the schools, it’s just a lot. The work never ends because being a mom is a full time job, on top of another job/school.
Let me just say this is the 2nd time I comment on your vlogs. I’m a Pre K teacher and I have a 21 month old son. I felt in my heart everything you said. I have a hard time leaving work at work and just focusing on my son in the afternoons. I feel drained and that talk you gave yourself I will try to keep for myself on those day I need it. Thank you so much!
Love this video! 💕I teach 1st as well and I often have to remind myself that we do the best we can with the time we have with our students to make sure they have a safe environment where they can learn and grow!
It’s amazing to me how I had such a hard day yesterday because of student behaviors and then I saw your video this morning. The message you share about not letting their behaviors rob your joy is what I needed to hear!
I don't normally comment on videos, but I recently found your channel after searching for relatable working mom content. I have been binge watching your videos, and you are truly a breath of fresh air! I, too, work a full-time, very demanding job, and it's hard to balance it all. I love how you share your faith and that it can be difficult to put yourself out there and go to small group. Seriously one of the best and most relatable videos I've seen in a long time! God bless.
Yay!! Congrats to Michael! I’m so happy for your family 🥰 and I’m proud of you for keeping your perspective when it comes to teaching. I know it’s not easy when you’re in the thick of it! 💕
Sometimes I find it helpful and motivating to say to myself “I’m not good at x YET” because you are not permanently bad at things if you keep working on them and sometimes as an introvert or anxious person we can be harder on ourselves and more critical about our social skills than we deserve!
💕 it’s so nice to see a teacher getting away from teaching-focused content and focusing more on living their life outside of school. I’m a 4th year teacher and seeing teacher content 24/7 drains me as I’m already trying to fight burnout. I, too, am working on finding my balance in life.
You channel is such a breath of fresh air. As a Christian, mom of a baby, elementary school teacher, and content creator I find your content to be so relatable and inspiring. Anytime I need advice I search your channel for a video. It’s like having a friend I’ve never actually met. Thank you so much for being you and sharing God’s love.
I loved this vlog and even though I originally subscribed for the teaching content, the Christian, motherhood, and life content has been a huge motivator and helper through tough times and I am definitely a fan. Congrats to Michael!! 💖
💗 Always look forward to your videos. Loved that clip of you talking to your students about "think time". "Was I being respectful?" I am definitely incorporating that in my classroom!
The heart to heart at the end made me subscribe to you. I work with kids by substitute teaching and working Afterschool and I needed to hear that. I plan on full time teaching once I have my teaching license and it is so easy to get overwhelmed by students and what they have going on or what they deal with. God put you in the classroom for a reason! 💖
Speaking as a teacher who is also a mom, it's really nice to see a week in my life that includes teaching but isn't the only thing in our life and is not the focus of our life. I just had my second baby and teaching is really hard right now. Thank you❤️
I love this type of vlog! What you said about not letting a 6 year old (or anyone) steal your Joy was so powerful and true. As someone a bit older and in teaching (special Ed 18 years) that is something that took me a while to get a handle on. Proud of you and grateful for your channel! ❤
I have no idea how people teach without having some type of faith based routine to help push them through the day! Thanks for sharing that part of your life. Also, I think we need a sweater haul / daily outfit video!! I loved every single one you wore in this video!
Congratulations Michael🎉I don’t have kids yet and I am a teacher and I truly think about how difficult it must be to be with children all day and then come home to my own😅 loved this video💖
Congratulations Micheal that's great news. Emma this was such a productive vlog I loved it. And I love your positivity. It was definitely contagious 😊❤
I needed to hear that stealing joy rant/pep talk because some days are really rough for me too! I have a lot of behavior problems in my class and it’s my first year so it’s really challenging!
I love your content more and more with each video!! Thanks for the reminder to not let a 6/7 year old steal your joy. I needed that this week! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Thank you for being the constant reminder that teaching is just a job and should not hold the power of stealing my joy 💕 I am on the struggle bus right now and really needed to hear that. Also, congratulations Michael!!!!🎉🎉🎉 A big celebration for your whole family. PRAISE GOD❤️
💕💕 I thank God for Christian teachers who inspire and show compassion to kiddos everyday. I am a first grade teacher and want to remind you that you truly are doing amazing and those kiddos are so lucky to have you.
Thank you Emma for your channel! I just recently came across it and have been going back to watch your older videos like this one and loving them. This one especially hits home so hard! I am a teacher and mom and I know you are no longer teacher but I appreciate you leaving this video up cause it is so relatable that it made me tear up … it can be so hard not to let our day as a teacher impact us in our personal life especially as a mom and having a one year old at home now as made it so eye opening to the message you said here teaching is our job not our whole life and we should never let it steal joy!! 👏♥️♥️ thank you! ♥️♥️
Same here, have to get up at 5:00 and go to bed at about 9:00/9:30. But truthfully I sometimes fall asleep at 8:00 in front of the TV 😅. Loved your vlog 💞
Your videos are so calming! I really enjoyed seeing how you balance teaching and your personal life. That is something I am currently working on in my own life. 💕
I envy your beautiful sunrises on your drive to work! My drive is still pitch black. The sun rises after I get to school, so it was nice to see yours. While I definitely miss seeing teaching content from you regularly, I’m enjoying your new content just as much. 😊
Congrats to Michael for graduating! Loved this glimpse into your week. You do so much, and it is clear that you try to give 100% every day, even if you’re exhausted, which is so inspiring. 💗
All you parents out there who teach and then go home to your own kids wow! I’m only teaching right now lol and it’s a lot. Thanks for the glimpse into your life and loved the pep talk at the end!!! 💕
Wow I realllllllly get what you said about being an introvert, not wanting to go out on a week night, but also wanting community and enjoying when you do go. I struggle with this too. I GET IT. I also understand the get in the car and- sigh lol. I'm a high school teacher and I feel exhausted at the end of most days.
I am not one to comment, but I have to thank you for the shift in your channel. I am a teacher and a first time mom. This was the perfect video as I struggle trying to balance it all.
Congratulations, Michael! Emma, thank you for your continued real-life perspective. Not every day is a good day but we make the choice to find something positive. 💗
First: This video was such a great balance of all kinds of content and I loved it!! Felt like I was truly spending the week with you 💖 Second: I love the coral leggings you were wearing Wednesday when you were bathing Jo! Do you happen to know where they are from? Third: Dry Shampoo Granny tip.. I put hairspray on my hair first then the dry shampoo because then way less of it soaks in and it looks grayer! Fourth: Can't wait for your next video ♥
💕 Love love loved your realness in this video (and in every video) but this one particularly spoke to my soul!! Also, I hate that someone started your day by telling you about the stain on your shirt! 😭 I love the five second rule-- if they can't fix it in five seconds, don't say anything!
Congratulations Michael! 💕 Thank you for sharing this vlog This is really interesting. My husband and I are thinking about starting a family and I toy with the idea of saying a teacher or being a stay-at-home mom. Obviously it'll be whatever we can afford. But I love to know how you decided what to do? I love seeing that you and Michael really parent together.
Congrats Michael!! Can you please do a morning routine with times I am a student but also a mommy to be and I struggle so much with time management and am late to everything especially in the mornings. Also you should make a video on some of your favorite recipes!!
I don't have kids or a job at the moment. I do get what its like being a working parent since I know someone who is. I tell my figure skating coach who is a mother and as a coach, that we do our best to balance work and our own family life. We aren't perfect but that we learn that it is hard to deal with someone else's kids and have to come home to our own still. I tell her that a lot. I just think its something we all realize once we become parents. So if anything, think about the things that make you happy still and don't let the bad things kids do take away from the good things in life😊
Yay Michael!!! I’ll bet he is so relieved to be done! I teach second. No kids of my own, but I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to balance being a mother and working outside the home as well. God gives you the grace and strength to do all He calls you to do in whatever season. I am totally exhausted by the end of every day too. Totally hear you. And your pep talk is perfect.
I am in that place where I just get frustrated by situations-often with the adults and not so much the kids. God gives us these situations to shape us. They have spiritual significance. Don’t give up!
And you made me smile when you hoped for a snow day because, where I live, 2 inches is like the daily dose. But we are probably a little better equipped-plows, salt etc. 50 below last week with wind chill. Brr..💕
💓Love you Emma!
🎉🎉 Congratulations!!!
Also a teacher here! First year though. I try to go to bed about 9:30 and get up around 5:30 everyday. It never feels like enough 😂😅
Also thank you for the very real talk about students behavior! Can’t let it steal your joy, also can’t let the parents steal your joy 💕💕💕
Congratulation to Michael! 💖
Yay Michael! That's so much work good luck with what is next for y'all
Edit 💞
According to actual data a teacher makes approx 1500 educational decisions a day. Enough to make a person tired for sure. We have warm up Wednesday this month and I wore what I consider a pair of pj pants for warm ups. I got away with it:) It is sad some of the behaviors teachers deal with today. It was not nearly as severe when I started almost 30 years ago. I hope you have a relaxing weekend with your family. Go Michael!!
💓 not that I am a straight to coffee kind of person when I wake, I try to have it only once a week no more than twice. But when I do I learned something my husband shared with me, there’s a science behind it! I don’t remember it all but maybe try waiting to have coffee 90 minutes after you’ve woken up, not earlier than that because you reset whatever it’s called that makes you sleepy again.
I need to try that!!
You are amazing. 💓💓💓
The perfect video 🙌💗💗💗
💕Jordan is so cute and sweet. The 100th day is always a LOT. The behaviors are amplified and they are too excited to follow procedures. Mine is in 3 days and I'm not exactly excited for it😂😂
Jordan has the same name as me! She’s growing up so fast she looks like a big kid 💗💗💗
Congratulations Michael 😊
Do you know where you got your red sweater(you wore it on Wednesday I think)? Every time you wear it I think about trying to find it. It’s so cute and looks so good on you!
It’s from target but it’s a few years old!! Thank you!💗
Would love to know where your earrings are from. They are all so cute ❤
Congratulations Michael on getting your masters in nursing!! 👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Technically I go to be at 9:30pm but some nights - like tonight later…. I just loved this video friend… Thank you for being you and transparent…. ❤
I know my 7 year old daughter Julia would do a vlog like this on Fridays starting at around 5:45am

Congrats to Michael and congrats to you for doing the very tough work as a mom and a first grade teacher every day. I am a first grade teacher and my own kids are grown and it's still so hard with students! I think your teaching and being a mom to a one year old is incredible. Loved your comment about not letting the acts of students steal our joy and I am going to try and remember that each day. Great vlog!
🩷
I think you should find something else you’d like besides teaching. It might make a big difference in your days.
