The beauty of the A5 isn't the ash veneer but what's underneath at the back and neck through, not to mention the Fishman's. Plus ofc the military grade bridge and winding gear. This is the kind of classic that you will pay double the price for second hand in around 5-10 years Thankfully, Cort build the damn thing to last a lifetime.
I love Cort A series. I have an A4 and an A5 and are the two I did play more. I'm very curious about A5 Ultra. My only "complain" is that sometimes Hipshot bridge need more excursion to tune B string, depending by strings brand, but is not too hard to fix.
@@jgfakjshfdgkajshd I am looking at different options than this bass, talked to a few professionals and they said it would be tough to replace the one on here.
Some of Cort's five string models are known for having intonation issues with the b string. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'm choosing between this one, the Cort gb modern 5 and some Ibanez five strings. Thanks
As far as I am aware it's an universal 5 string issue. Ticker strings just intonate worse up high the neck. Sometimes bridge regulation is not enough. In the ideal situation the bridge should be slightly slanted to the side to allow for better regulation.
Aw man, I REALLY wanted to hear those fishman’s responding to slap. And tbh, I felt that this video did not do the pup’s (and the instrument) justice: Ultra muted?? Chords and….well you know, Gregor. This guy plays so well - but not today. Could we revisit this? Put the Cort thru it’s paces - a la your usual videos? 👍
Isn't there a push/pull poti which changes the pickups from humbucker to singlecoil as well? Not, that more versatility would be needed on this bass, but I think you forgot to mention that. Great bass! Tried out the 4-string about 6 months ago, unfortunatelly, the shop only had a bunch of ashdown amps and I don't like their sound. Would love to check this bass out with a more clear sounding amp.
@@basstheworldofficial Yes, but this bass definitely has got the push/pull volume knob which switches pickups between double- and single-coil modes. And it's a shame you didn't mention and demonstrate it in the video.
watching this made me want something I have never thought of before a 3-way switch that is a pre-set/memory for the different tones you want, like power memory drivers seats in cars, but you can see the knows twirl on the bass every time you flip the twitch....That would be awesome!
Had a Cort for a time and it was a lovely bass...but the controls are in an inconvenient location for me and I kept hitting them when I was playing, especially when using a pick. So I sold mine in the end.
I have the Schecter with these electronics and I never have the volume pushed in to humbucker, as I'm a single-coil kind of guy. :) But it turns out the electronics are a little different on this Cort. All good though.
I've also Schecter (SLS Elite 5) with FF pickups and electronics and I'm almost sure the electronics on Cort is the same as on Schecter, because FF pickups are in the bundle with their electronics and all instruments typically use the same combination (although I've read about experiments of combination of FF pickups with non-FF electronics). But I'm a bit surprised by small difference of different voice settings in this video. I also make use of switching between double-coil and single-coil modes, which extends the sound possibilities of the bass significantly, but it is not mentioned in the video.
I think it's a really appealing instrument, and would suit me perfectly (physically, visually). But as solid as it sounds, it has no particular sonic _character_ that calls to me. :^/
I think you're a bit late with that one, Cort have been making really good guitars and basses for a while now. They also make them for Fender, Schecter, Lakland, and more.

2 Panga Pangas from 1 video, I like that ratio!
Spoiler alert dude! I 🤣
I've always wanted to play an A5 Ultra. They look like supreme instruments. The new GB Modern series also look very tempting!

All Corts of Artisan A lineage are amazing and here is something seems just outstanding.
King of Priests? I love UA-cam's auto-generated subtitles.
PRAISE HIM!
And Mr Grenier flex and beard. What a team!
All I need is an EQ bypass switch and this bass is perfect
Great video guys!
Rene FlächsenBEARD ha ha !
🤣
Cort is such an underrated brand for basses
Rene is killing it today.
I had a guitar center bass made by cort (ocean) which is the same exact bass as this one. I hate I ever got rid of it.
What kind of spector is that on the background????
I've always like cort instruments. I'd like to own one of their Bass guitars. Thanks for the info.
My dream bass.
Nice & beefy tone at a great price considering what you’re getting, I plan on getting the Cort A5 custom , Soon I hope 💯
This bass looks and sounds great.
Why is the bass player wearing a fisherman's hat indoors? 🤔
Are you kidding ‘let it be’ is always perfect
I really wish I could find Cort instruments in the shops near me.

Is the string spacing on the 4 string 19mm? I’m looking for around 17mm. I could replace the bridge I guess but I don’t wanna ruin anything!
@@Upsetkiller456 if you change strings spacing pickups will not be aligned as before. Are you going to change also pickups ?

These pickups work a bit different. it's a completely unique design. You can read up about this on the Fishman website. Interesting stuff

Hey, what type of bass is that gold one with the white pick guard in the background? Looks like a Spector; but can't really tell for sure.
What's the weight of this bass?
Fishman Fluence vs Nordstrand Fat Stacks...thoughts?
I have basses with both. There's no comparison. The Fluences are way more versatile.

Looks/sounds great - of course in the hands of a great Bass player!
Does anyone know the weight? Kinda looked light - but???…
Great demo!!
🙏🙏🙏
What about the weight?
Dude looks like someone cast a magic spell on one of snow whites dwarfs and he got real big. Slappy the dwarf.
Great looking and sounding instrument, but I prefer jazz bass body, shallower C neck with 9.5in radius over D with flat fingerboard anytime.
Anyone know the weight pls?
Thank you
🙏
Weight?
I am watching this on an ash table top... I am Considering transforming the table top into a bass....
Take it from me……Do it.

Fishmans. FTW!
Swamp Ash is just what a bass should look like, period. I love it.
Hehe, I did not hear any difference for all 3 positions of the switch :D Maybe thats why there was needed some explanation in 3:37 xD
There is a slight difference in the mids and highs, it made it just a bit more clearer.
Go ahead……say Panga Panga just one more time😂
Every time he said “ash”, I heard “esch” and though it was an “Ultra S” model.

in my opinion i hate fishman guitar or bass pickup 😂 (except acoustic pickup), tone from their pickups is weird.

What do you mean this one is different? Is this the first Cort product which is not shit?
