Thank you for this Jamie! I'm currently taking my first steps in filmmaking and your tutorials are a massive help and inspiration. I just finished a short video on Barcelona where I used the building grow effect thanks this tutorial. Keep inspiring!
Thank you for another great video. I have been using resolve for about 3 weeks and your guides have helped tremendously. Looking forward to the next one.
@@JamieFenn I just started a series for UA-cam and was quickly limited by Movie Maker. My buddy was trying out Resolve and I am now in love. So much power and ease of use.
Another amazing tutorial Jamie. Very easy to understand and follow along. Thinking 🤔 of other applications in addition to the building to use this on. 👍
Hey man i have been watching a ton of your videos learning how to edit with Davinci and just realized we both live in the same town! Let's go hit Ajax!
Hi Jamie, thanks for being so Cool! Love and respect your channel and content. May I ask your short opinion .. I do not have a video editing program yet.. I love what Davinci Resolve can do.. But for a beginner would I be better off getting something like Filmora? Interface etc.. Cheers mate!😎
Fantastic, just a thought, maybe at the end of your videos of fusion you could just freeze the clip for a second just on the node layout, for me i think i would find it much easier to refer back to as can then work on davinci in another window and just slide from window to window, hope this makes sense, Naming each node is so much better then not. im sure you have made the fusion page so much easier to use for so many people, many thanks
Hey, Just thought I'd drop some positive Feedback. Had quite a bad time for a bit and wanted to find sth new [[17 yrs old , doing my A-Levels and stressed af, dont really have time to do much at all]]. So, I thought I'd try to get into editing. Tbh, over the past weeks i tried quite a few of your vids and , although I dont have the time to really make something that would bring me any sort of benefit , I really enjoy playing around with random short clips from games I'm playing w friends every once in a while. Sure , my editing skills and creativity is lacking up until now, but some effects due to your tutorials look really dope to me, and, although I dont post any videos or so , I really enjoy doing those edits on the side. I hope you have a great day , because you sure made a lot of mine a whole lot better. Gave me something to look foward to at the end of the day when I got some random idea in class to a clip i recorded the day before. Be blessed man.
Wow first of all thank you for such an amazing compliment. It really makes me feel good when I make peoples days hahaha. Keep playing around with Davinci and just keep getting inspired. Glad I could help you get creative. :D
@@JamieFenn I'm dragging on the screen and it doesn't work it creates a shadow box. I'm using a moose pad that is on my laptop. Are you you holding a button down at the same time?
One last thing where did you get the sound effect for the building grow part. And what’s the name so I can download. Also look out for a tag I will be tagging you in this can’t wait to post on ig. Took several tries but I finally got it🙌🏾🥳. Also video request can you do a eye transition tutorial?
Awesome video, just a note: could you explain how you decide to link the nodes? I didn’t understand why, for example, linking different nodes the wall went behind the building instead of being on the front, at 07:33. Or how that strange masking blob at 05:00 was fixed just linking the building node to the merge1 node... If you explain why you do what you do I can understand, otherwise it’s just mechanical learning, it’s compartmentalized to this kind of project. Just my two cents, the rest is gold, I love the idea of the effect, I’ll surely try it!! Thanks for sharing
Hey thank you so much. Honestly with longer more advanced tutorials I tend to try and make is as clear and concise as possible without going into detail on everything because if I didnt then the video would be an hour+ long. I've put a ton of other videos where I explain that multiple times and since this is one of my most advanced tuts I feel like there were a few things I could skip.
Jamie Fenn thanks for taking the time for replying me, I’ll surely check your other videos out. I understand that you had to cut many details, it’s just that I’m not used to the nodes mentality, I’m too used to the adobe ecosystem...
Ahhh ok. And no problem, I try to reply to everyone the best I can. Yea its quite different (I came from FCPX) and I was like WTF when I tried doing basic compositing. Check out this video -----> tinyurl.com/vujasgg Its a great run through of the whole program. (Well a lot of it.) I go over the very basics in the fusion portion.
Bro such a great video ! I have tones of questions too since it doesnt go as smooth like in the video. when i create the second polygon, it creates a "window" in the luma key too. The result it is showing the true colors of the sky footage inside it as if it ignores the luma key. Maybe you should create a course for advanced effects :)
Jamie.. I cant do this effect correctly . When I put the luma keyer fx and I play with the building and sky, I cant isolate the sky and building separately correctly no matter how much I try . Is there a work around this?
Every scene is different. You may have to mask out the sky with a polygon node like I do. Not exactly sure what you're fusion composite looks like and if im not there I cant help you.
I have a 24-70mm kit lens and a two prime lenses, a 50 and 85 which one should I use for the building grow effect also can use vertical for ig or would you recommend horizontal?
Very interesting, but please tell us what and why you are going to do something like "click on the polygon tool" before you do it. Showing us the effects of what you have done after you have done it is a constant disconnect. Yes. One can watch the video several times to figure out where you are going and how to get there, which is what I have done. Otherwise, a very informative effort, so thank you for that.

what is the short cut for zoom the video, I see you zoom easily.
