  • The Veja Condor 2 is the second generation performance running shoe from eco fashion-shoe maker, Veja. With the Condor 2, Veja continues its quest to create running footwear that doesn't rely on petrochemicals, so-called post-petroleum shoes.
Made in Brazil, the Condor 2 is designed as an everyday trainer rather than serious performance racing shoe. It’s made from 57 per cent bio-based and recycled materials (the rest is virgin plastic and rubber). The upper is made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles, the outsole is 30 per cent wild rubber, and 31 per cent rice husk. The insert is a form of Pebax made from 100 per cent plant-based Ricinus oil. Even the laces are made from recycled plastic bottles.
Unlike some 'green' shoes we've seen from the likes of Adidas and On, it’s not, however, recyclable nor is everything biodegradable.
It's £130 in the UK and $160 in the US.
And the all-important questions: How does it perform on the run? And how does this second generation eco running shoe stack up against the growing competition like the Allbirds Dasher and Salomon Index?
We've tested them all. So hit play on our Veja Condor 2 review and find out.

Great concept having eco friendly running shoes, would have liked to have heard they used recycled running shoes rather than bottles! But any recycling is good recycling! ♻️

Not soft, not responsive and really hard and stiff. Maybe should be a lifestyle shoe straightaway. Ugh these companies... Crazy calling it a performance shoe and anyone can barely run in them. Thanks for the review.

I recommend this brand too, in case you want to try it, a Kenyan brand of sustainable shoes that is respectful of workers. The brand is ENDA. All the best

Think that I would opt for the Reebok Forever Floatride Grow over these, which are heavily discounted in the UK right now.

Hi Mark, (Kieran here), we not had a chance to run in those. Look like they have potential though.

Have you got the On Cyclon on your radar as an eco-friendly running shoe? Different concept with the subscription and recycling them regularly but could be interesting!

We certainly do. Looking forward to seeing what that shoe is like and the whole subs concept is definitely something we're gonna see more of.
