Veja Marlin First Run Review: Has eco-friendly performance finally landed?

Following on from the Condor 2, VEJA just launched the VEJA Marlin - an eco-friendlier shoe built for performance. It's lighter and VEJA says it's tweaked to deliver a more serious ride for serious runners. So does it stand up to the test? Have we finally got a shoe made from more sustainable materials that also delivers a competitive performance on the run? Kieran's taken this for a couple of spins and here's his take in on VEJA Marlin first run review.

Thanks for this review. As someone who goes through 5 or so pairs of shoes a year I’d prefer something a bit more ethical from a labour and eco point of view.
How would these compare to a Mizuno Wave rider in terms of fit? I’ve noticed that the sizing chart runs out of half sizes at 42 euro so I’d need a 43, normally a bit big for me in other shoes.
As my normal brand is mizuno, I tend not to mind the hardness especially as I tend to run on mixed surfaces anyway.

$180 for such a ugly looking shoe.... no wonder the sun hid behind the clouds ha ha.... some things dont deserve to be recycled....

We don't think it's that bad looking to be honest. The green colourway is much nicer than the black.
