What The Polar Vortex Is And Why It's Happening Now

  • We don't have to tell you its cold outside. It's enough to make even we hearty New Englanders wince and whimper. And now we're learning a curious new term to explain the extreme freeze. It's not a cold snap or arctic air or a frigid spell. What we're feeling is a polar vortex. Sounds pretty ominous, right? Almost like science fiction. But turns out it's a very real thing.

    Does anyone pay any attention in history class? A very prolonged period of warming on a global scale is what caused the extreme cooling period of the Little Ice Age which went around the Middle Ages although in some places continued into the 1700s and 1800s. In this time period, normal winter temperatures could be felt mid-summer sometimes and extreme arctic cold was felt in winter. We're now seeing the exact same scenario. Years of increased temperatures due to the greenhouse effect and global warming destabilized normal weather patterns bringing arctic cold down on top of our hears. You know the old saying "What goes up must come down". If temperatures get really high eventually you get the opposite.

      Global cooling is NOT caused by global warming! It's the sun's cycle! Cycle 25 is a cooling cycle. Notice nearly zero sunspots.

    • @jtc1947
      @jtc1947 5 років тому

      Karim?? MY CONFUSE? GLOBAL WARMING / CLIMATE change could not have been the result of HUMAN activity in the middle ages. Humans did NOT enter the industrial revolution un till the late 1800's or early 1900's.Please explain the connection?

    • @BellaKarim23
      @BellaKarim23 5 років тому

      @@jtc1947 That's not what I meant. What I mentioned about the Little Ice Age is an example of how changes in temperature are causing what is happening now based on what is known to have happened before. Because before the middle ages temps were higher than usual for debatable reasons before the balance was tipped and the middle ages got the little ice age. Yes global warming is the result of the industrial age of the 1800 to now since we are still in that era. What we are seeing now is a period of high heat that brings with it a period of extreme cold like what happened during the middle ages. That's what I meant

    • @BellaKarim23
      @BellaKarim23 5 років тому

      @@mkmason2002 Coincidence only. A period of solar cooling as you put it does not account for the increased temperatures within the atmosphere of the last 40+ years which are melting the polar ice caps as well as glaciers and NASA has mentioned this in one of their many studies. In fact, during the period of solar cooling with no problems inside the atmosphere temperatures should be going down, not up as they have before with other solar cooling periods. Whether you believe in global warming due to pollution or not the fact remains that temperatures are increasing where they shouldn't be and decreasing to extremes at times when it is supposed to be cold and that does not coincide with other periods of history that have seen a solar cooling period. Think of Venus. It is Earth's twin planet in all but atmosphere which is full of the same stuff we are pumping into our own atmosphere. That atmosphere traps solar heat and does not allow it to escape, keeping temps really high, too high for life exists there in a greenhouse effect. Yet with the solar cooling period, temperatures in Venus have gone down a bit because less heat enters the planet to keep the cycle going. It is not a lot of change but it is a change as heat is energy and energy can disipate as it moves. And it is a change that concedes with the solar period unlike what is happening here

    Magnatic fields will only respond to magnatic fields so Earth's magnatic field is responding to some magnatic field.
    Considering the fact one must look at the source of this magnatic field which must be gigantic.
    Again one must understand the effects of the disturbance of this ( Earth's ) magnatic field comprehensively, especially if the disturbance of the magnetic field is going to magnify.
    So a remedy to this fact will be to accept and take appropriate action to survive

      hyvää-elämää-98 as the lands absorb energy from air it will cool the air, but remember land heats and cools faster the water vapor. as the lands in places like Alaska warmup now that most of the ice is gone global warming due to axial tilt precession will see rapid heating in these areas you not just said 2x faster in your video this is global warming wait and watch as oceans begin to heat up watch your water levels rise faster and faster a 1% variants on the 26000 axial title precession is 260 years or 130 each sever zone est. to end without variance in 2000ad so heating could continue at increasing temperature gain and flooding until 2130+ad

    • @romainetomatoes2416
      @romainetomatoes2416 7 років тому

      Thomas Willis axial precession doesn't affect the tilt angle of the earth. If it did, the latitude of the polar circles would fluctuate, causing the polar regions to grow and shrink. However, there is such a thing as precession of the equinoxes, which relates to the earth's location on its orbit at the equinoxes, and thus the date that the equinoxes fall on, which is a very slow process.

    • @verongtw
      @verongtw 7 років тому

      some back ground on axial tilt precession. it runs a full cycle of 26000 years. this cycle can be measured by two sever extremes in 13000 year increments. increment 1 north pole points away from sun at largest distance from sun by the earth it points towards sun during closest approach to sun( this is simple positions in a single year) this is a ice age for northern hemisphere southern hemisphere would be experiencing hemispheric warming. in 13000 years this would flip flop southern hemisphere in ice age northern hemisphere in warming trend (this is where we have been since 1ad)
      these trends over 26000 years means it takes centuries to heat up or cool down a hemisphere thus the long time it has taken to heat up the northern part of earth since we enter the northern hemispheric max solar energy hitting it. it takes thousands of years for the heating to level off and start heading back to minimum solar energy hitting northern hemisphere thus what temperatures should remain higher than 26000 year average thus oceans will continue to warm and expand for 1000-2000 years

    • @verongtw
      @verongtw 7 років тому

      hyvää-elämää-98 yes it takes 26000 years for 1 cycle
