Good suggestions here! Evan Williams 1783, Buffalo Trace and Old Forester 86 are solid lower proof options. Think that Evan Williams 1783 might be my favorite out of these.
Keep these types of videos coming. I bought a Benchmark Full proof after the full proof blind. It is great. Only out $22. Keep taking one for Team Bourbon Kingdom, I will buy the bottles.
Low proof on my shelf now: Jim Beam Black 7, Jim Beam Winter, Buffalo Trace, Russell's Reserve 10, Benchmark Single Barrel, Yellowstone, Evan Williams Black, Pendleton Midnight, Stranahan Sherry Cask
In this line up, Buffalo Trace every time. In fact, the best bourbon I've ever tasted is a single barrel store pick I ran across last year. I still have two bottles that I'm jealously hiding from my friends. Having said that, I wish JD still made Lem Motlow ... a back porch in the summertime sipper. Terrific mixer too.
I would've had money on Tincup 14, I just got my second bottle of it after killing mine earlier this year because I thought it was dangerously good for the proof and had super solid flavors. Especially for 70 bucks
In the past 6 months in my area, BT has gone from something you had to grab within a day of delivery, to hanging out in most stores for a while. Still can't get anything but the regular standard Benchmark though. Been checking for the LL/ME laser code on the Russel's 10s in my area and only finding MD or MH. Seems it was skipped over here.
I personally still like eagle rare , if you're quick on the draw big name stores still sell it for $40 bucks. I only need one a year (2 if I share a bottle with friends, and as good alternatives Evan Williams1783, Jim beam black, and any three base redwood Empire depending on the mood as daily drinkers.
I have four that you should add, number 1 where is the Eagle Rare (90 proof)? Two of my favorite daily sippers Reg Pipe Dream (90 proof) and Hard Truth Sweet Mash Bourbon (90 proof). And finally, not overly complex so it would probably finish near the end, but I really enjoy the Michter's Sour Mash (86 proof)
I do love some high proof bourbons for example jack Daniels bonded but I can't drink high proofs all the time. My daily drinker is four roses yellow label. Sometimes i will drink old forester 86. I don't like anything over 100 proof.
First thought was immediately Michter's bourbon. Then I looked it up and realized it's barely over the 90 proof limit. I think it would have crushed the competition.
Should have a segment that is called wisdom by Dave.. when I was growing up we had a TV program called Big Chuck and Hoolihan Hoolihan did a skit that was Called readings by Robert and it was hilarious. Just whimsical nonsense that was gold. I don’t but anything under 90 and those are far and few. Personally I prefer 100-135 as my standard range have had a few over 145 and they were great. Best whiskey I have ever had was a single malt out of California that was 153 proof but drank like 110. And I’ve been around the sun over 64 times so that’s saying something. Been drinking for over 43 years so not a novice by a stretch. Honestly I’m not sure why 40abv is still a thing. Just saying. 🥃🥃🥃
I had some Russell’s 10 recently for the first time in a while, and I was not impressed. It’s $45 here in MI, and I don’t think I’ll buy another bottle.
Jim Beam White Label is one of the worst bourbons I’ve ever had. Evan Williams Black Label is really good.. Buffalo Trace is my favorite sweet easy drinking bourbon..
Low proof just isn't good or worth the money for me. Couple exceptions which are my favs for beginning or ending the night pours. These are all fairly cheap and should be $40 or less.

Jim Beam Winter Reserve has become my 1 and only favorite low proof whiskey. Great flavor for a low proofer.
Maybe I missed it if you said anything, but why is Eagle Rare not in here? 90 proof ($39) for me, I have 5 bottles.
Jim Beam Winter’s Reserve is so delicious at 86 proof!

The RR 10 LL ME was confirmed by the distiller not to contain leftover RR 15 but did contain significantly older juice and was worth hunting down.
Great breakdown! I love to see yall go against the gran and get low, lol!! The newer batches of RR10 and that 10 Cup are excellent!
For me, it's Michter's. In particular Michter's Rye. At 84.8 proof, it is a great pour. I guess that's not a bourbon, but yeah, Michter's Rye. 👍
Evan Williams got me through the pandemic! I mostly mixed it though. It’s great with Dr Pepper.
You should add Michter's Unblended American and Old Forester 1870. If you can find it the Coopers' Craft Original 82.2 proof too.
You ain’t kiddin about Benchmark Top Floor, pretty dang good
Russell’s 10 and Tin Cup 10 would be my favorites going into the blind

I like bib and tucker double char and 10 year 8:50
Hard Truth High Road Rye is a great 93 proof rye.

Dave’s been into the high proof whiskey buy the sounds of that intro ,!!!
Love me some widow jane 10 year.
Evan Williams Single Barrel (86.6 proof) and Bowman Brothers Small Batch (90 proof)

Most enjoy high proof single barrels, including myself. But, I also like a low proof well made whiskey. It all depends on the day and my mood.
going out on a limb: top floor 1 buffalo trace 2 russels 3 four roses 4 and of 5
Add Old Grandad 80 proof. Love that stuff and it's real cheap. $20.
How about Evan Williams single barrel 86 proof
Eagle Rare should be in this group
I go with below 100 but since it’s below 90 you should do a mid range prof between 91-110.
Redemption Wheated Bourbon could compete. It is 96 proof (48%), however it drinks like a sub-90 proof bourbon. Incredibly sweet and smooth.
What no “X” ?
Evan Single Barrel would be my pick
Low proof dusties are some of my favorites!
First thought was immediately Michter's bourbon. Then I looked it up and realized it's barely over the 90 proof limit. I think it would have crushed the competition.
Doesn’t Eagle Rare technically make the cut coming in right at 90. Angels Envy bourbon or rye also should be considered.
I'm a little surprised that nothing from Michters made the list.

Need to do a Rye blind video sometime. Just saying. Cheers 🥃
On it!
South Dakota consumes per capita more crown royal than any other state.
What about four roses super premium? I have been curious about it but the price and the proof scare me off. Anyone had it? Is it worth it?

Eagle Rare
Weller Special Reserve
I had some Russell’s 10 recently for the first time in a while, and I was not impressed. It’s $45 here in MI, and I don’t think I’ll buy another bottle.
Hancocks would be a nice addition in my opinion at 88.9. Would probably blind very well!
Hancock's President's Reserve at 88.9 is so drinkable
Russell’s LL/ME
Wyoming Small Batch is good low proof whiskey.
Eagle Rare? (90 proof)
You guys aren't on X/twitter? Don't be scuuuuuurd 😂
🎉🎉🎉
I would say under 100 is considered low proof
Jim Beam White Label is one of the worst bourbons I’ve ever had. Evan Williams Black Label is really good.. Buffalo Trace is my favorite sweet easy drinking bourbon..
maybe this is just me, but isn't Crown Royal not bourbon?
We all know the king of low* proofers is Michters 10
Low proof just isn't good or worth the money for me. Couple exceptions which are my favs for beginning or ending the night pours. These are all fairly cheap and should be $40 or less.
To clarify, low proof for me is 100 or under
No. I will never buy another bottle under 100 proof....unless it's double oaked, or possibly an interesting rye
No, you shouldn't always have jim beam on your shelf. Definitely not. Not enough room. Plenty of KCs and Bookers for that.
The correct term is watered down. Not my thing.
no, one-offs don't count.
C'mon guys. Anything below 100 proof is def low proof. BIB is the cutoff, and I'd include BIBs in this myself personally.
Low abv whiskey is watered down piss
Dumb. Low proof sucks.
