My father had 1987 Audi 90 sport quattro 2.3 EU version and that shit was bulletproof. And it made the best sound ever! I regret to this day that he sold it before I got a chance to drive it….
Yes that's a glaring omission in the fit and finish department. No manufacturer would get away with this today :) Even on my old Honda minivan there is a plastic cap to cover the hole.
@@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec i have a 1988 Audi Coupé B3, and i can honestly say the fit and finish is pretty damn good on my car, i just had it restored and it shines like new. Also there is no armrest there but instead a seat manual forward-backward adjustment roll. I feel like the armrest hole is intended to be a hole For forementioned adjustor and got repurposed as a armrest hole. Pretty horrible but also kinda charming 👏🏼
Superb design on this car. It looks very good and they were quality products. The quality criteria applies to many cars from the 90s and early 2000s. They were built as good as they can be. It was more to it than just money.
"is the Audi ready for the video people?" "Small problem sir. I accidentally nicked the armrest and now it has a tear in the leather" "No problem, just tell the presenter that the slit is an access hole to secure the armrest to the seat, they're usually pretty stupid these people, so they'll believe anything"
I had this one back in the 90s with 2.3L engine & 136hp. Coming from Germany the cars display showed max. speed of 260 km/h & on german Autobahn it did it easy up to 240km/h - while it was listed in the papers with a max. speed of 209km/h. This 5-cylinder went like stink - no wonder, it had a special exhaust called "Fächerkrümmer", usually forbidden in germany by the "Tüv". But Audi got the permission as an exception. Only best memories in my mind, this car was great & very good constructed. Mine had a gold-bamboo colour & black tinned "Treser" (german audi tuner) backlights along the entire backend & also white front indicators. Very stylish that time. 😂👍
Some prefer the 8C some the 8D, but both have their problems. Sure the 8D is more modern, slightly better to drive, more spacious and has partly better engines, but the 8C has a MUCH better galvanisation. With the 8D Audi tried new ways in production which wasn't always better than the older method. If you want a more sturdy car with better quality buy the 8C. If you want more comfort buy the 8D.
Awesome such a fully packed 90! At the time of this vid in 94 it was better to wait for the A4 though...
They didn’t come out here until ‘96.
@@DougsCars aha nice fact!
The B4 was the better engineered car. The A4 B5 was developed under cost efficiency, the B4 luckily wasn‘t
Definatly not, the 90 is a much better all around car
@@DougsCars September 1995.
Questa versione era favolosa. La più bella in assoluto
Yeah nice. I have 90 2.3 20V Quattro and 2.2 Coupe. 5 cylinders is music for the ears. 😁
Nice i have a 91 2.3 quattro can't beat that sound
@@jamarharrison7895 yeah best engines ever.

I love the way women dressed 🤩
so comfortable and feminine
out of all the innovative features in this car they couldn't find a way to cover that 'button hole' in the arm rest? lmaoooooooo
There’s a bit of Sunsetter Retractable Awning commercial about these presenters.

I wonder how many customers were pissed at that slit on the armrest.

A Fächerkrümmer is a manifold
@@DN-yh9qq Yes. Google helped me to find out afterwards, but I was too busy to correct it. 😉
I just bought a nice, low mileage audi 80 avant quattro 2.6l v6 with ac and cruise control from 93 last saturday.
I still have the video tape that came with my 2001 TT.
5:19 that looks like a tear.
It's for a button and also doubles for seat service.
where can i order one?.
I had a 95 90. Now I have a 04 A4

The type 8C is from a time when Audi was Audi and tried new stuff.
I'm in the UK, I had an Audi Coupe 1996 model, Not sure if it was available in North America? Fantastic car overall.
