- He’s a Boss. For many students of te reo, Sir Tīmoti Karetū is the Godfather of the Māori Language movement. He may be 84 but he’s still on a roll - and not slow with an eye-roll either.
What does he think of the name for Oranga Tamariki, Pākeha learning te reo or Māori being compulsory? Moana Maniapoto asks Timoti Karetu these questions & more in a rare sit-down in ENGLISH…
The interviewer's manner is delightfully ingratiating.
We all looked up to timoti I loved that he had his name in our maramataka and thank him dearly
This matua is ON POINT...no mincing his words
This was so refreshing, and well done. The care and respect shown, was awesome!!!
Words of the wise
Love this doco interview. Just found now and put a big, big smile on my face x
She said everything I felt when meeting him but this has given a more open minded, mine that is, of what and how he says and thinks. He's blunt but knowledgeable to be able to say what he says. Critisism is good for you to take away and learn from it. When he says theres the door and you remain shows you will take it with a grin and sit thru it.
Always return to view again...
Love...education. educational ❤
Much love koro
wow that's a great interview thank you :)
Loved this interview! Tā Timoti Karetu is such a wit.
Love it. Thank you.
When you see footage of a hui you were present at and don’t see yourself, kua mōhio pai rā koe, aaaa, kua tutuki te whāinga😂
LOL with Moana
Tryna over speak each others thoughts and the tikanga 😂 jus start ur own kaupapa or korero no need to respond to their korero
When when you guys get it. Maori and pakeha are One. Yes. Maori have health issues, but so does asian and parsifica. Remember. The treaty is " not" a partnership
Nah that's your ignorance 😂 Maori are not the same or one with pakeha never have been as long as they dishonour the treaty
