Judging by the fact that they've been using a Skoda Karoq as their CarThrottle transport & filming car, and the fact that in the earlier videos of Ethan & the other guys following Alex there were some shots of the steering wheel with the Skoda badge in main focus, I'd say there's already been some support behind the scenes long before they even started this High Mileage Hero's series.
My 1985 Celica did 698,000km. Its currently being pulled down for a full nut and bolt resto mod. Boosted motor, wide body, full custom interior. All new paintjob. Etc... Been a long year of rust repairs already
This car has been in my family since new. It was bought only to be our traveling car in 1985. I received it about 3 or so years ago sorta as a present as it was on its way out and im a mechanic/pannel beater and painter by trade. I have big plans that are mostly full filled. Im waiting on just a few parts and the motor will be finished. I have a 4 wheel drive floor pan thatll be cut out so my 162 wont be a FWD itll be a AWD. Im aiming for around 150-170 wheel kw at all 4 which should be do-able considering the motor is essentially built. Plans are to keep it stock looking but around 2 inches wider then factory, so ill be extending the arches fully without showing bolts or harsh lines. I have quite alot of sweed (i dunno how to write it, swead, swayed ?) To be appolstered onto pretty much all the interior. Itll be my weekend road warrior as i already have enough other vehicles.
My dad had a grey Octavia with the beige interior when I was a kid. I loved that car so much that cried when he came home one day with a brand new Chevrolet Captiva.
My dad bought a almost brand new one in 2004 and I grew up with that car as well. So many memories. A year ago my dad bought a new car and since then the octavia is mine. I puked in that car so many times as a kid and now I drive it around daily.
Hope you guys enjoy the video! And congratulations to Kevin Bridges for winning Miles' dyno printout from last week's episode! Inbox us your email and we'll be in touch!
Absolutely fantastic and honest love for cars. Also extremely cool that the cars manufacturer reached out to you, really goes to show what a legitimate force Car Throttle is in the eyes of the auto world.
It’s amazing that Skoda themselves got involved kinda makes me want to buy a Skoda. Plus life goal achieved I made it into a car throttle video!!!!!!!!!!
Blair Henderson this Škoda has over 400k miles because engines were built freely back then (20 years ago), and car manufacturers didn't over inflate them with all sorts of filters that stress out the engine in order to reduce air pollution. A modern Škoda won't last like Miles did, but your emissions will go down (and road tax). So, there's a win and a lose for everyone.
Sergiu Puscasu it's mostly because the engine is undertuned. There's still newer Skodas like Taxis that have been well maintained that have quite a distance on them.
> Argowal That's a Skoda from another time , now they've been bought by VW if I'm not mistaken That was, in fact, the first car Skoda did, after VW took over.
*Alex, what do you think of my idea that you should visit the factory with Miles where he is born/built?* Anyway, this is awesome! I can not believe that there is so mach love for Miles! Like proper OEM parts are given away from the Skoda dealership and a compleet respray that's worth a lot of money, for free from those awesome guys! Can not wait for the next video!
Us petrolhead love the story, Skoda loves the story and it's good publicity, Painters, mechanics and factory parts are getting their own visibility. Everybody is a winner. Miles is like an old grandfather who was a boxing champion. Maybe he's not fit as day 1, but it brings a lot of great memories that you wanna listen to.
I’ve been to the factory and it’s actually really cool. It’s like 3 quid to go round, you see them all being built and you get a bit of Skoda history. Go in the winter time and they have an ice rink outside as well :)
Man, you actually do the most awesome PR stuff Skoda could ever dream of :) And it actually is a really nice project! It is great to see that somebody is appreciating an old reliable car instead of just beating the hell out of it as they do in other channels :) Great stuff, keep it up :)
When the first video of Miles was published i was afraid you guys were gonna run it over with a tank or some other senseless but fun form of destruction... As a huge Skoda fan, i'm glad that isn't the case!
The guy who owned that before must have really done a job on those electrics if Skoda couldn't sort it out! Mmmmm my favriot, screwed up electrics.....
Yeah, I recently had some brake light issues on my Volvo, my dad chased it for a while, I said I wasn't going to put a wrench on electrons and just to take the car to the dealership. The car is still stock so I don't have a problem with taking it to the dealer's.
I dont think cars never make it to that many miles because they break down, I think its because people just get tired of owning the same car for 15 years
Gabriel Pedrosa my argument for when people say that is if you gotta spend £500 repairing something, either way you're loose that money whether the cars worth £10k or £200, you'll still be £500 worse off!
Yeah my dad drives for his work and he got to over 600,000 miles on his pickup and had to replace the transmission and all the transmission cooling which was $8,000.
our 2000 hyundai santa fe lasted 400,000 miles per hour but it got totaled in 2013 after the transmission and brakes broke down the value of the car at that point was less than $500 so we sold it and got a new car
Superb car channel popupd late on my youtube page any how i love octavia its my first car and i am still utilizing it to work and outstation the best thing is an average even i m broke down today to get her back fullfresh but healthy built by skoda .i have crossed 160000 miles till now wd her in last 14 years still more to come like the video you did appericated a lot thnk u ..
My dads 2003 GMC Sierra Duramax has 255,000 miles. My moms 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser at 280,000 miles. A friend I know has a 2002 Chevy Silverado Duramax at 334,000 miles. My Lexus ES330 is at 190,000, and in near perfect condition.
The Firehawk over the years there have been a wave of cars flooding Poland that had their odometers rewinded. When you looked for a used car you could be sure that the seller probably changed the mileage in the instrument cluster. This was especially true for cars imported from Germany

If you mean the top gear challenges with the three old boys, I agree. It's not about the power, coolness or common sense: we want to see nice stories about cars and their hidden capabilities. Please I want that steering wheel I live in the UNITED STATES 🇺🇸 and we don’t have skoda here. I would love to have that awesome steering wheel to show it off to my friends please I want it 😁😁Also I shared this video with 10 of my friends plus my mom and dad they all liked it They all thought you were funny and interesting 😆 ME TOO !!! I’m a fan of the channel been subscribed for almost 10 months 😁 IM DYING TO HAVE THAT STEERING WHEEL 😉😉
You probably will not drive that car enough to increase the mileage much. Do a competition to Loan it to very high mileage drivers for a week or a month at a time to whack some hi miles onto it. Lets see it JOIN the MILLION MILE CLUB ! Get Sponsorship from SKODA & SKODA DEALERS to keep it mint & ORIGINAL AS POSS .
This is so awesome I'm loving this series. I wish I could do this to my aging Pontiac Grand Prix but there's so much rust on it that it's not worth it. Such a shame, it's my first car I bought it in 2011, my junior year of high school, and I've been driving it every day since then to/from college and now work. With 173k miles It runs perfect, but the rust from these harsh New England winters is killing it.
This has been such an amazing series so far, keep it up CT guys and gals! Watching Miles come so far with all this love makes me feel even more guilty about my family selling our 85k miles Bora, which shares many of Miles's parts :'((
Possibly unfortunately these cars will not be economically viable soon. Ulez makes this car too expensive to own for people inside the North and south circular in London. This will get rollout to other major cities in a few years
I think his goal was destroying it as well. He was probably like |--| close to destroying it either on a track or off-road. :D Still, I'm really proud. I feel like they've adopted a handicapped shelter pet and brought him back to life. This old dog still has a few more years and a few more hundred thousand miles up its sleeves.
Dorian Bury Damn! I didn’t catch that the first time. That was brutal. That guy had no idea he even did it either! Good thing the car is getting resprayed but still. He should be more careful next time.

Looks like he have some lubricant or something like that on fingers and on screwdriver because when you look at the door handle you can see the same "scratch" color
BIG props to *SKODA* for getting involved.. their PR guys know whats up!
BrabusBandit This series was great free PR from the start. Props to whatever PR-employee decided to get involved.

8:15 That guy MUST GO BACK!
Skoda is too underrated man, it deserves more attention.
My 1985 Celica did 698,000km. Its currently being pulled down for a full nut and bolt resto mod.

Sure you are
my Mitsubishi magna has done 300,000kms
its a 1994 v6 wagon
Dude, Celica? Man, I wanna see it! Make a video about it pleaseee!!
So your Celica is getting a paintjob and nutjob. I fully understand how someone can be so close to their car.

mad props to Skoda for this!
You think they did this out of the goodness of their hearts? What are you, 11?
don't be rude. You're already a year late to this thread.
It’s just a free advertisement on how reliable their engines are
jinch so the fact they gain something means its not a nice act? Youre the immature one
Recognition should go to VW, the supplier of the driveline
Rare footage of Alex not working on his own car
Haha so true
We NEED to get this to a million miles.
or 1.4 million miles.
don't you mean 1.4 million miles?
Sai Vootukur why 1.4 million miles?
Ilikeboost because he was 400k miles at the beginning... or somewhere around that park.
My 01 Tacoma prerunner has 430k miles on it my goal is a million
Do you restore it and stuff?
7:38 Oh my gawd! I'm in a Car Throttle video, and even in one of the most awesome ones so far! 😅
Congrats!
The before and after pictures are going to look miles apart!
I see what you did there.
Nathaniel Thompson i hate you for that
Painfully dad joke ish hahaha

Love the vids keep it up
I think the car will be red
I want the steering wheel, I've shared and everything! 😂
Car Throttle make the car back whit white accents
please reed my comment and please give me the steering wheel :)
Amongst all of this love island shit, Car Throttle is my saving grace, thank you!
couldn't agree MORE!
Much wisdom you speak.

I guess that if you take care of a car, it will last. I hope that can also apply to modern cars.....
It's a WV inside. Some TDI engines are tricky .miles has been well taken care of .
Mottmatt yeah but this old skoda wasn't maintained properly, yet the engine is still running. If you do this to a new one, it'll BLOW (figuratively).
Call that a lot of rust?

why? they sold the car its not theirs anymore, he got the car in hope his viewers woud support, us viewers supported him so he is giving back to us
GamingPredator when you spend 400k+miles in a car youll understand
i should say aswell without his meticulous dedication to the car.. it wouldn't be here..
Bruh one of my best friends is named Matt Thompson WTF
Matt Thompson I need it
I want to see this car in 2050
just asking with 1.000.000 miles🤣
probably "not allowed" with their plan for only electric cars in 2050
Keisuke Takahasi I thought it was only a ban on new cars, in the sense there are still road legal steam cars I believe.
C A yes it’s only for newly produced cars, well I mean...you can’t just ban all cars from like 1800s to 2049 to drive on the road
By 2040 it'll be told he's not allowed on the road anymore
Nice gesture from Skoda to be fair. Not often you see manufacturers doing something like this
TheBlaggert it makes sense these videos make the brand look so good
He put skoda on my map, Good that the brand recognized him.
Argowal That's a Skoda from another time , now they've been bought by VW if I'm not mistaken
I was planning to get a BM but now I'm having legit second thoughts
> Argowal That's a Skoda from another time , now they've been bought by VW if I'm not mistaken
That was, in fact, the first car Skoda did, after VW took over.
Give the seats new stitching, only seams fit.
I’ll get my coat
this comment doesnt have enough likes
Reference to Topgear?
This left me in stiches! 😂
“Is that my jacket??”
There we go. Behind the door panels lied the reasons why the windows "wood not roll down"...
Cheers to Miles and his team!

I go there tomorrow actualy. I live 40 minutes from Mlada Boleslav.
All that work and didn't replace the carpet.
wobbly sauce the dealership probably only had the vrs interior lying in its store and wanted rid of it
There’s a red vrs in the same room. Maybe they just took the interior from there?
ThinkCleverAndSmart that was their press car, alex had a go in it
Oh, my bad!

I wonder if the first owner knows about miles
sirico there was one owner before miles and knows the plans for miles
It is wierd that the steering wheel has indentations.
DaSovietPotato I used to have a diesel Octavia and I can tell you, those indentations are normal (not the thumb part)

wear and tear buddy, wear and tear. that wheel been touched like ( improper joke ) ...

4:12 the guy destroyed the door with the screwdriver...
GabGas27 how do you even notice these kind of things xd
Robertas Burba I am a lover of detaling and these things make me cry!!!
Least it got resprayed after that
*Skoda.* *Simply* *Clever* (-rly destroying your car)
Looks more like some white goo which was on the screwdriver as there is also some white on the door handle after he touched it.
These videos need to be longer, please...they need to be MILES longer.
Does that mean making Miles to a limo?
Nice pun
I never thought I would ever want a 20 year old Skoda steering wheel

Gert Nulk didn’t matter anyway

A super used steering wheel, I want it.
Nate wu why wouldn’t you? It’s free!
3rd channel I've seen you on.
I'm The Doctor btw
+KidOfEpicness Lol, we must watch alot of the same channels
I dont think cars never make it to that many miles because they break down, I think its because people just get tired of owning the same car for 15 years
one more reason: when the maintenance/repair bills start topping the car's sale value, its sort of an unsettling investment...
DIONNAND000 or the owners get a new car and can't afford having both of them (taxes, fuel etc)
our 2000 hyundai santa fe lasted 400,000 miles per hour but it got totaled in 2013 after the transmission and brakes broke down the value of the car at that point was less than $500 so we sold it and got a new car
This is the best series
I fancy the steering wheel. I’ll put it on my wall in the shed.

CAR THROTTLE'S OFFICIAL CAR
Skoda need to put this an their museum when finished
When it clears the million miles !
Nope this car belongs to the wild
Well, it's a regular 1.9 tdi, with VRS interior, I don't think they would do it.
Yea in Czech republic i think we have one Octavia with 1M km in a Škoda museum. These cars really are indestructible :D
Yeah, half of all octavias there got over 500k km :-D
Its so satisfying to watch miles get restored
AT and HD yeah , better than classic cars sometimes
Kinda makes me want to pull my own car to bits and clean it all up beautifully too!
I thought 178,000 miles on my truck was a lot... Compared to this, its nothing...
178? lmao id call that brand new compared to my corrola with 286k and my truck with 199k
286k pfft thats barely run in compared to my 5 million mile model T.
These are used in the uk as taxis.
300k is not unusual.
I'm at 414,000 on my 01 silverado. Still looks ok but definitely could use some love.
I own a 15 year old Skoda Octavia which still performs 200+ kmh on the Autobahn even though it has over 300.000 kilometers. Great car tbh
The restoration probably costs more than the car itself
no shit sherlock
Remove the "probably", since that kind of car with that mileage is worth a few hundred euros, maybe 1k.
He bought it for £200
twolate2l00k miles deserves evry bit of lurrrv he gets. 👍 😊 ✌ 👌 🔥
Changing a headlight is more expensive.

Then why would the weld a mk1 octavia bonnet? You'd get a replacement for a few quid and save hours

Very good idea. Been thinking along the same lines.
I
This has been such an amazing series so far, keep it up CT guys and gals!
Watching Miles come so far with all this love makes me feel even more guilty about my family selling our 85k miles Bora, which shares many of Miles's parts :'((
#WeLoveMiles !!!!!
Do you think this car could get to 1 million miles?
if kept up with services and such i see no reason why t cant
Idk maybe, if it was a Toyota or Lexus, or scion, I’d says for sure you can get it to 1,000,000. I’m not familiar with skoda reliability though.
Possibly unfortunately these cars will not be economically viable soon. Ulez makes this car too expensive to own for people inside the North and south circular in London. This will get rollout to other major cities in a few years
Yes! Finally he’s being restored! Our High Mileage Hero shall be returned to his former glory! LONG LIVE MILES!
Miles will be 20 in 2 days as he was first registered on the 7th January 2000
Kimi raikkonen: steering wheel
!!!
Like this to tell car throttle we want more of Phil the mx5
He did tell me on the website the v6 swap is coming soon
If that giveaway is serious the skoda wheel would be awesome in the US!
Cars age quicker than people :)
It's just a mk4 Jetta steering wheel lol, but a very cool one
We have the same surname
Skoda is a piece of junk
A true petrol-head I think you missed the joke
I know its been 5 years but i really need that steering wheel.
Pimp my ride - the proper way! :D I love this car and what you guys are doing to it. BTW, what's up with all that wood?
Meal Stub It's keeping the windows up
I speak from experience
Stupid
Maaan, that škoda will be better than it comes from the factory!
It definitely will
If i would get that steering wheel, i will do anything i can to attach that wheel on my g27 (gaming wheel) and post a video about it.
Nicknags same, i have a g27 too. also those old seats 😏
I really like this skoda we had the station wagon version of this skoda
I want Miles to be in a transformer movie as a British Autobot and voiced by Alex his faithful owner.
I wonder If Miles will ever go back to the moon.
Miles is definitely my favorite series on the channel so far, any other UA-camr would’ve destroyed it
I think his goal was destroying it as well. He was probably like |--| close to destroying it either on a track or off-road. :D Still, I'm really proud. I feel like they've adopted a handicapped shelter pet and brought him back to life. This old dog still has a few more years and a few more hundred thousand miles up its sleeves.
I've got a 95 mercedes c220 with 210k on it I am currently restoring this was a great vid to encourage me
@4:13 the screwdriver to the door breaks my heart
Dorian Bury Damn! I didn’t catch that the first time. That was brutal. That guy had no idea he even did it either! Good thing the car is getting resprayed but still. He should be more careful next time.
Looks like he have some lubricant or something like that on fingers and on screwdriver because when you look at the door handle you can see the same "scratch" color
That is definitely not a scratch, just some kind of lubricant.
Lucky Miles!
I bet their doing this for running over Trevor.
I STILL MISS HIS VTEC
4:11 look at this scratch...aaaa
