Background music not necessary and a little bit distracting. Good video though.

I heard before that the “in the beginning” part in Genesis 1:1 of the Hebrew Bible is technically grammatically incorrect but I recently read an article that made an interesting point. If you have an opinion on it
The article basically says that this might actually be an intentional exegetical to the Wisdom in Proverbs 8:22 where Wisdom is referred to as the “beginning” of God‘s work. So the statement in Genesis 1:1 could indicate that God created the world through his Wisdom. So a possible correct interpretation of Genesis 1:1 is “In Wisdom, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Personal passions are also consequence of corrupted nature, You cant say to someone who is addicted wel is your fault so deal with it? And thinking you are some how better.

We have a corrupted nature meaning we are subject to sin, but does not mean we are bound by it. I agree addiction is hard, and yes maybe at the beginning we should not try to put responsibility on the addict. But give that person years of recovery they will very quickly come to themself and take responsibility for what they have done.

What do you mean by personal passions? Are we talking about someone on drugs for example? Although we are not there to judge anyone, we have to realize that we all have a will. If I decide to enable a passion within me and feed it, it’s on me. I have done this with my own will. The desert fathers teach us that when you fight the passions, you arrive at dispassion (although this is extremely difficult). The more we fight, the less the passion takes control over us. That is what the saints lived. So we do have a responsibility that cannot be denied when it comes to exercising our will.

The senior Abouna at the parish that I attend in Sydney Australia has been serving as a prison chaplain for 25 years and knows all to well the consequences of personal passions. He very much does his best to help people break free from such things.
