- The Leupold Custom Dial System® (CDS) builds your ballistics right into the riflescope dial. No more holdovers, bullet drop reticles, or ballistic calculators. Just quick, accurate shots every time.

Please do a video on adjusting down when sighting in with zero lock
I've had two of these CDS scopes and can attest that it's not a bunch of bull scat: IT REALLY WORKS, eventually that is. I say that, because it's not as easy as this video tries to make it out. First, you have to get your rifle sighted in with the original dial before you can do what he just did. I shoot Hornady ammo, and use their ballistic app to help. Then, you have to remove the old dial and hope that it doesn't accidentally click or move. Then you add the new CDS dial and hope you get the allen wrench in the slot perfectly. The bad thing about the CDS dial is that it is only good for elevation NOT windage. Depending on the distance, and where the wind is coming from and what speed, you'll still need to either hold over left or right, or make minor windage adjustments. Again, I still had to use my Hornady app for windage. As for me. I was able to hit a metal pie plate all the way out to 420 yards. Man, was I surprised.
Is there a option to change out the capped windage for a locking turret for the VX-5 HD?
Thank you for the excellent tutorial, Brent!
If I zero’d my rifle at 100 yards do I place the CDS on 1 for 100 instead of 0? Sorry new to this.
Your CDS would be dialed to the 1
I have 3 other leupold scopes.i purchased a vx freedom with the cds..while deer hunting this year I noticed my top adjustment know kept on moving on me,due to the fact it was rubbing in my pack. Will the new custom cds dial that I just ordered prevent this from moving so easily?
The CDS will not make a difference in this case, but any scope model with a Zero Lock dial will completely eliminate this problem
Do you have to zero out your dials before you put on the cds dial?
No, but it is recommended that you do so the dial doesn't move from your zero.

Has anyone found out that the windage dial is designed so it is loose?
What scope are you referring to?
@@LeupoldOptics VX5 HD. Windage dial is "sloppy".
No you need to push the dial in it should not be loose.
@@LeupoldOptics After applying moderate thumb pressure to the dial it still wiggles. I think I have a defective new scope.
