I'm going to connect a few dots for you Brad my man since I've now seen you react to and enjoy so many different songs by Irish/Scots artists and you always seem to enjoy them! The angelic sound you are hearing is a kind of 'Celtic Soul' with roots in traditional folk music. This culture has produced so many beautiful contemporary female singers with Moya Brennan (who you can hear in this song), Enya, Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries, Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins, Sinéad O'Connor, Eddi Reader and Annie Lennox being just a few of the more famous examples. All these ladies incorporate traditional folk singing techniques to some extent or another.
A lot of their work is split between soundtracks for famous films and TV shows and then there is their more typical new age mixed with folk music in a mixture of English and Gaelic/Erse.
It started off as a family band in the 70s. Enya is part of the family and has played with them.
The film here is the last of the Mohicans, but they've done a lot of others like Robin Hood and Harry's Game.
if you cant get enough of this sound watch an old tv show called robin of sherwood. the chanting, the 70's syths, the drums, it's all there all the time.

She is. Enya was briefly in Clannad in the early 80s.
