Out of the Box - Episode 4 - ENGWE EP-2 Pro Electric Bike unboxing and review

- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- I was approached by a company called Engwe that specialises in electric bikes. They asked if I would review one of their ebikes on my channel.
I have been thinking about improving my health recently and thought that seeing as I am now over 60 years of age a power assisted ebike could be the answer for me to exercise without putting my body through too much stress.
Little did I know that it would be so much fun that I actually forgot my age whilst testing it out and had a fantastic day of fun, safe in the knowledge that if I ran out of puff, I could just 'power' home.

Your smile at the end says it all.
That was good fun, watching you have a blast.
Great 👍 to see you again
Great surroundings, you have done well to move to your new location.
Good on sir!. Health and happiness look good on you .👀👍.
Looks awesome Marty! I'm pretty sure u have a lot of fun this day :)
Very nice change. It is so wonderful to see you back. Looks like you really enjoyed that.
great drone work! those shots were amazing!
Kudos to the photographer!
I have never heard of an ebike before but it looks neat! I can see it is very well made and easy to assemble. Thanks for sharing this neat tutorial on it.
Looks like you had great fun Marty, enjoy, take care as always from South Africa
Looks like a proper tank of an e-bike. Good stuff.
Looks like you tested that bike to its full extent Marty , even crash testing 😉 😆..... Great looking bike though 😉 👍
Thank you for this Marty. I'm in the market for an e-bike, I love riding, but my "fake" metal knee acts up when I try to ride for a while. Thanks for taking some spills for the team!
The area around your home is lovely. Props to the drone operator!
Great music from Dyalla! A New Zealander!.
Great video. Loved it.
Excellent footage. What drone did you use?
It's a DJI Mini 2 - The best drone I've ever had!
Those peddles remind me of the metal ones that struck my shins in my youth!
If it's a keeper you can swap the brake levers, either flip them or swap brake hose/cables. You might need a bike shop if they are hydraulic as they'll likely need to be bled.
Nice review Marty!!! You need to take the paint remover to it and do a Marty’s Makeover on it. Will have to look into this. My wife and I have been looking for a powered bike.
How long before Kevin nicks it and goes into town for a booze up?
Hi Marty
Nice Unusuel Unboxing Video but very professionell Doing 👍 The Bike looks Great and you are a Smart Bikeguy 🚲 Have some Fun and a good Time. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭 to Australia 🇦🇺
Marty's Motorcycle Mayhem .......🤭👍
Seems you were happy with that.
Great fun - As others have pointed out - your saddle needs to come up quite a bit and handlebars look a bit high and need to be dropped.
I don't think you can drop the handle bar as it incorporates the folding mechanism. A lot of people have swapped them out for bmx bars.
Just great! Something else Kevin can use to make trouble for Marty. ;-)
❤WE WANT KEVIN!🐨
This looks very similar to MATE bikes…. Enjoy it!!!
This is the most active any of us will ever see him...
Hello Marty nice bike. Don’t think l could have put it together
Left/right brake operation? One of those quirky differences between US and Australia.
Interesting to see if a sports wear brand will sponsor him with a Lycra bike suit…
Merry Christmas Marty and Julie ,oh and Kevin. Hope your well.
You look like a kid with a new toy. I suspect we will soon see a lesser Marty. Biking can be very healthy.
MARTY---SCAMMERS ON YOUR CHANNEL! (my original message is below).
Love ya, Marty! Very cool, man... Maybe the birth of a second channel, here? Also... I hadn't thought of it until now, but has anyone ever told you that you have a likeness to Bernard Hill? Love ya, bud! -Vic
@Martys_Matchbox_Makeovers Can you guys just keep a list of all the people that you're trying to scam? I get like...30 of these 'wins' a day. You're just wasting your own time. Every time I see one of these, I report them to the channel creator. Also...Marty is an Australian man in his 50's. The last time he said 'yo' was probably in the early 1980's. ALSO also... He doesn't seem the type to use the number '4' for the WORD 'FOR'. Lastly...'@Martys_Matchbox_Makeovers' isn't his UA-cam handle. Does this ever work for scamming? Or...do you just get off on preying on the weak-minded?
im wondering why i need a license to ride my moped if this bike is faster. 😂?
Dunno what the law is over there, but in order to get around licensing requirements here in the USA, ebikes are speed limited to 20mph. (approx 32.2 kph) I have a Motan M-70 with similar technical specs to the bike Marty was riding, and it's hard limited to 20. Once the motor reaches that speed, it dials itself back so you can't go any faster.
@@TheAquabears well over here in denmark theres no law for ebikes, but for mopeds there laws left and right.
@@beamer8907 Sounds like you better get an Engwe for less money than a year's worth of petrol.
I'm just doing the maths here. 10k views, potential sales of this bike, 1. Cost to company of sending bike, $385. Profit from 1 sale of bike, $862. Company pockets $477 from this video.
Doesn't really seem worth to trouble.
Not taking away from MMM. Love the channel and the content. But a 13 minute advert for an e-bike I'm not interested in would mean of lot of regular viewers would skip it so smaller audience.
I guess that's why I'm not making $500,000 a year in marketing.
Well, you don't have to watch the video. Wait for the next one :)
Arse. Don't watch it then. All these haters.... I just don't get it. Jerk.
@@murrij You're spot on. You don't get it. Marty isn't interested (I must presume) in a smaller audience, but that's what this video got him.
I've had one for a month now - only been out on it a few times as it has been really wet in the UK.
Pros- Good fun, goes well, decent value for money it seems.
Cons - Quite heavy, so hard to ride without assist. I'm also still waiting for the extra 16ah battery I ordered as a combo with the bike. Initially promised it would follow after 2-3 days, then it was late Nov, then early Dec. Still no sign :( I've seen a couple of similar comments online from folks with the same problem - it's a bit naughty to sell something that they don't actually have in stock without warning the customer first.
So you're going to paint that one in Tamiya grey primer next right?
Fantastic vid. They better have paid you for this on top of giving you the bike. Mans got bills to pay and farm to run.
Great camera work Marty. You did the firm proud
Should have asked Kevin to help.
No, wait…
Imagine the chaos if Kevin took it for a ride!
I know you really bought the bike for Julie. It sure seems like a lot of fun out riding the country side. Take care and be safe.
Hi ya Marty. I can’t imagine a better spokesperson for Engwe than you. As always, a great video. Well produced and entertaining. With just a hint of comedy. Well done Marty. You are the man. And that’s quite the e-bike. The drone footage was great. Was it Kevin or your son operating it? Thanks. I look forward to more adventures. Don’t hurt yourself.
Don’t let Kevin anywhere near it Marty
Pretty cool machine, thanks Marty 👍🏻🇦🇺
Great video
Marty’s Motorised Meanderings!
Missed an opportunity to Photoshop the MMM logo into that ploughed field…
Fun watching.... Great video Marty.
Not so long into the footage of the cycling, Kevin jumped into mind!
I see I am not alone with that thought.
👍🏻👋🏻
Marty you need a stunt double - LOL at least you and the bike are OK, Loved this video! That bike looks like it's hella fun to ride. I'm going to have to look into it. Anyone want to buy my standard Schwinn? I bet it would run great where I live - hardly any hills of note.
Loved the drone work.
Conversions for Americans - LOL. 45 KPH = (just under) 27 MPH. / 100 km = (about) 62 miles. / 50km = 31 miles.
And UK peeps too lol.
A c.30mile range ain't too shabby, would get me to work and back.
Thank you
Yeah, it's a shame. People just can't leave well enough alone... Now, after hundreds of years of perfectly accurate measurements using the imperial standard, they want to change to a "better" system because some people cannot seem to grasp the nuances of the tried and true standard...
Marty does his own stunts!
😁
I think I’m more interested in purchasing the drone that was used to make this video! Excellent footage!
Raise the seat up quite a bit and you'll be more comfy and feel more in control. Fun looking bike.
Glad you are ok after eating dirt.....twice lol
$1,099.98 US dollars. Little to much for me.
😀👍👍 Love your shed Marty!
Nice review, although I would be concerned about the rake on the fron forks, it’s very. Vertical, making it unstable I believe, prob very good for tricks, but not high speed cruising
Yes, that's what struck me, and I think accounted for the first "misadventure".
bicyles that come from countries that drive on the right hand side of the road (Like america) tend to put the front brake on the left, rear on the right whereas countries like the UK and Australia tend to oput front brake on the right.
Marty Knievel.
Hi Marty, I have a Leitner ebike that I've ridden for a couple of years. I believe that Leitner is an Australian brand. I've ridden my ebike in a variety of climates and terrains in the USA states of Florida, Arizona and Pennsylvania. I like the landscape that you rode in your video. BTW, I am a tad over 60, too. Stay active and good health to you.
Very nice drone work!
Hi Marty, just a bit of advise, you should set the saddle a bit higher, your legs don't stretch enough when riding. This might result in muscle pains when riding longer distances because your legs can't stretch enough when riding the bike. Cool bike by the way ;-)
Thanks for the tip!
MARTY! Someone is spamming the replies with a fake account using your name and image. Block and report them.
Done, thankyou for your concerns.
Doctor said get fit, so I bought an E-Scooter and E-Bike
That Bike is a lot of work! And I'd thought putting together Matchbox Playsets were a Challenge each time I'd open a Matchbox Playset for my diecast picture openings.
It would be illegal in the eu. Only pedalassist is allowed and only a powerd topspeed up to 25kmh. Also only a 250watt engine allowed
Nice photography and beautifully shot Marty! Nice to see your videos again - you’ve been missed!
Liking this little slice of life piece~ Feel like I could probably get some good use out of one of these
Well, at least in the warmer months; wintertime in Canada means a lot of snow and I'm not sure how well it'd do in half a metre of the stuff 😅
That was a gnarl fall on gravel 😮 Hope you back and shoulders are okay Marty 👍
So, the obvious question, does this also come in a Matchbox issue? If it does, I'll buy one for my 3 year old grandson (who loved your John Deere restoration!) and send it to you for restoration after he plays with it.😀
One of the best Videos for that bike. Including droneshots and Stunts. I like it. Thank you for this great work.
" OH NO " Now Kevin will be all over the outback visiting his Chums. lol
Once again a great to show. It is good to expand one's horizons; as much as I Love your matchbox makeovers, you have such a strong camera presence no matter what you do; it is great.
Thumbs up for dusting yourself off after that spill.
Both motorbikes' and bicycles' brake levers are swapped left-to-right from country to country. As the bike came from a California company, the front brake is on the left. That's how they are in the U.S. You can swap them if you want.
Learned that from an episode of Happy Days...
Yes, front brake on the left is traditional in North America, but the cables can be easily swapped side-to-side. In most instances, you don't even need to disturb the levers, simply remove and re-attach the cables.
Nice looking e-bike! You really needed a helper for unboxing and assembly.... but maybe not Kevin. 😀
Great drone work!
Nice bike marty, did Kevin cause the crash lol
Great film-work on this. Where you live looks amazing.
Loved it. Would also love to see some longer footage of the trains that run on those rails if you ever have a chance!
I was hoping we might get some airbrush action 'makeover' on the new bike. Sure looks like fun!🙏👏🏻
Where's the Matchbox makeovers ?
Two crashes in one ride! You're a madman!!!
Very nice e bike! I like the folding feature. And such a gorgeous area you live in. Those wide open spaces are just beautiful. You guys are very fortunate to live there. Thanks Marty!
Your Saddle is much to low, in this way you will damage your knee joints.
This is all I could see on this video - I was shouting at it - "saddle's too low, mate!"
He says he is not into pedal power (yet?). Maybe his knees won't hurt that way.
Hi from the UK a cold morning and going to get colder
Yes Cousin, Winter is creeping in here in the US too. Makes me long for spring and we are technically not even in Winter yet. 😲
So cool filming! Great job!
The reason the front brake on a motorcycle is on the right is due to the clutch being on the left. Every bike I've ever ridden, aside from those with a foot brake, has the front brake on the left, and the rear on the right... And that's a lot of bikes!
Don’t what country you’re in but in UK rear brake is always on the left, I never heard of anything else?! Bloody dangerous to change it. Also this e- bike is illegal in UK an Europe, shame.
@@rickcrutchlow8073 US here, I guess it would be, but the brain adapts pretty fast. One endo from using the front instead of back, and you'll change your tune. Here where I'm at, this bike wouldn't be powerful enough for me, but the RV crowd would love them for the parks. Sadly, I can see why they might not be street legal in many places though...
Was Kevin running the drone for you?
Nice countryside Crash Test Marty. Looks a bit like Rutherglen.
Thanks to Engwe and Marty for letting us see what to expect with this product. Looks like a not too difficult assembly.
This bike looks to be very sturdy. Much sturdier than your normal electric bike. I guess that's because of it's ability for off road use. The welds on the frame especially look hefty.
@@denniswhite166 it's bl00dy heavy lol. more like a little moped -at least twice the weight of a mountain bike.
if you get one i can highly recommend taking the battery out if you have to drag the thing up and down 2 flights of stairs every time you use it.
If you have to use an extension cord to recharge use one with a very heavy wire, yet as short as possible.
@@benleydon I just started looking into it. I have no reason to lift it into an auto. But taking the battery out of it sounds like great advice. I'm in the USA but I don't know if they ship here. It's free shipping in Australia! I would only have to push it up two steps on my back porch into the mud room. Pretty sure I could do that even at my advanced age. The big advantage to me is that mopeds need to be licensed in my state but electric bikes don't.
When you first said you wished you had three hand I thought: "Where is Kevin when you need him?" Then realized with his help, it would still be in the box, you trying twice as hard to get it out. Biggest Matchbox I've ever seen! 😉 Thanks for the review.
@Martys_Matchbox_Makeovers Gladly, though in reality I know Kevin would leave you "short handed"...
No stunt doubles were hurt in this production, only Marty! Nice bike to get around in such a beautiful country!
Boyz and their toys. Great for your location.
I bet that cost a few quid to send to Australia!
I just don't think this bike could do what my pedal bike could do when I was a kid.
I could jump 75 Matchbox Londoner double decker buses side to side!
Marty, how many Matchbox's can you jump with this coal charger bike?
Looks like a great bike Marty , the welds are done great , machine welds , tires look wide and strong .
This will get you out in the fresh air for sure .
Enjoy my friend , when you see a track , think train .
Mike .
Cool bike, not particularly attractive but it looks sturdy and durable. Tires look like they'll get you just about anywhere. The one thing I really dislike is the handlebar angle. I don't know if it's adjustable and Marty liked then insanely vertical or like me didn't know if they were adjustable. It looks more like a pallet jack handle all upright like that. It's got to be awkward riding like that.
They picked they right guy to review their product. Many city folk will be raising eyebrows & caressing their chins.
