  • Testing out a full throttle take off in my 1970 MS55 Toyota Crown. It has a 4M with a 3 speed automatic transmission. Only mods are a custom air filter, supra electronic distributor, and twin mandrel bend 1.5" exhaust with glasspack hotdogs.
Unlike most old Crowns the secondaries in the carby actually work!
I think it goes pretty well for what it is!

Goes better than my '90 Volvo!

@Hemiyoda I don't think so.. I helped put it in with my mechanic, we just had to modify the mount where it bolts to the block, and then set the timing. From memory it is running fairly advanced but i haven't checked it since as it seems to be running great!

I liked how my 3speed in the MS65 shifted, too bad it wasnt really suited for highway cruising.

@Hemiyoda I know! They rev way too hard on the highway.. would love to put a lower ratio diff in it..

Have you regraphed the 5M-E? dist? The advance curve on my nordic spec 4M looks different to the 5M-E. 5M-E tops out at 30degrees @ WOT, 4M at 35 degrees. 4M has larger combustion chambers, needs more advance for max power.
