I remember the first time I borrow this with a friend's F4, (8 gen earlier than D800) it was like 25 times faster than my F401s. Jeez we still talking about this shit in 2021 with D800. This is good shit.

The point is some people want the blurry abberated look wide open. I prefer this render to the G version. I own the 50mm 1.8D, 1.4G and the 1.4D. the 1.4D is the best rendering daylight lens. The 1.4G for night, as it is cleaner.

Use it on my D850 for those who question compatibility but here a warning: It's not that sharp when compared to other lenses from Nikon. I'm therefore currently in the process to buy the Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art Series. Research here on YT looks promising although one has to accept much higher weight.

I'm going the other way. I have both the Sigma 50mm and the Nikon 1.4d. Not sure if you've gone ahead and pulled the trigger on the Sigma yet. It's a great lens but I honestly haven't compared it side by side with the Nikon and am not likely to. I take pictures on holiday, mostly of my family. I'm never going to blow my images up to more than A4 and mostly view them on a computer screen or my phone. As such, the biggest factor for me has become the weight. On a recent trip to Paris, I found myself relieved when I didn't feel obligated to lug around the D850 with the Sigma as together they weight nearly 2kg and it gets cumbersome to carry that around (even more so when I also have the Sigma 24mm in my camera bag). I want something lightweight next time and so have taken off the Sigma for now and replaced it with my trusty old Nikon 50mm f1.4d. I'll keep you posted ...

Yes, But it will only work with manual focus because the D7500 lacks the autofocus tab on the mount.

@@sharpvolt2669 The MF Nikkor 50mm (1.4 AI or AI-S) has the same optics but is much cheaper plus it has a superior build quality. For a D3200 or similar I would go for this MF lens.

Buy the AF-S Nikkor 50mm 1.8 instead. Not much more expensive with a little smaller max. aperture.

Good video, but with all due respect, the combination of the accent and the rapid rate of speaking led me to miss a few things.
